Bowler friend wickets for Test Cricket!!!
by Athipattu Narasimhan Balaji on Mar 03, 2010 01:45 PM

Let's build bowler friend wickets with pace, bounce and 2-stich balls which can swing a lot better or re-define the cricket bat usage. The willow is so good that even a tap goes for a boundary and runs are atleast come-by quickly..

Bowler friendly wickets
by Athipattu Narasimhan Balaji on Mar 03, 2010 01:42 PM

Make bowler friendly wickets with pacy & bouncy wickets. Probably introduce 2-stitch balls of old generation for more swing. Let's see the modern era batsman and re-vitalize swing bowling.

These things make test cricket more interesting and not day/night..

Just start the match by 1 1/2 hour early. The match will be over in the morning session itself!

Media

It is the media which is promoting the extinction of Tests by interviewing somebody who milks money using the T20 format. Tests may have lesser viewers nowadays, this is because BCCI holds more ODI and T20 matches. If BCCI follows what Australia does in planning their cricket calendar, things will improve automatically and domestic first class matches and Tests will have more viewers. Again low viewership does not mean it should be stopped.

Tests

Let Tests remain in the same format. Let there be no experiments with the basics. May be certain reforms are required: for example, keep a provision of 1 or 2 more days to accommodate for any time lost during the 5 days due to weather, may be newer ways to protect the pitch and ground from rain so that play can resume as soon as rain stops, more standardization on the distance to the boundary from the pitch, gadgets to help on-field umpires to validate LBWs and No-balls etc.

Jay I agree with you... In All marketing strategies of group of companies, the loss in one product is compensated by another products high profits, same principle can be applied here, as T20 is making huge profits, lets compensate the loss with Tests, keep the purest form of cricket alive, for the sake of the game. And people who work during day.. do watch highlights of the match played during the day, which earn huge incentives, so keep it that way... charge broadcasters for the highlights than entire match, broadcasters will agree, and it is win win situation for all. Don't disgrade test cricket.. it is the Pinacle of cricket..!!! Jai Hind.

Dont compare Test Cricket with 20-20!!
by rahul vij on Mar 03, 2010 08:04 AM  | Hide replies

Its a shame that people with limited knowledge about the game make expert comments . Test cricket has survived centuries and tests a cricketers true potential. On what basis people are arguing that it should go day /night?.it will have an an impact on the genuine charm of the game.Twenty- twenty is a just a current trend and this craziness you see now will diappear as time passes and more no of matches played.Modi is just a good marketer and dosnt know the technicalities of the game and he dosnt understand the passion of a true Cricketer. To add to that most of the people who follows 20 20 cricket neither knows about the game nor they do have passion. Its just a some sort of entertainment. The difference between test cricket and 20 20 is same as the differnce between a classic movie and pure commercial entertainer movie and you could never compare the same!!!!

I agree with you. And Modi should not forget the dew which makes bowling very difficult. And how about making a white ball last 80-100 overs in an innings? It is simply impossible. Modi stop joking.
