well before this series Dravid has averaged 79 . Not sure if you know or felt the need to research before making a fool of yourself.
Also, he is kind if missing on batting practice as well. The season just started , so have patience.
The board should have arranged more practice tests in Sri Lanka. It doesn't help if one watched the Sri Lanka A team plunder runs left and right and make the folks that needed practice match the most watch from the sidelines for almost 2 days
they are living in so called foolish world...............
sach this year only has scored 5 century in 6 test that is real sach....
what is so called test batman dravid has permed this year?????????????????????
fact is that if sach donty called 100 in a test that called a failure........but others ala dravid ,laxman, dhoni scored 10 run that called success....
Dravid playing is awful now days,he cant score a 50 forget a century..... i know there are so called dravid fans for whom dravid is backbone for indian batting........
but fact is dravid is no sachin,,,,,who can score century even @ age of 70 years.
Re: Agree but dravid must retire now!!!!!!!!

wait what ? 3 inning failures accompanied with lack of international level batting practice and you are baying for his blood ?
This is the problem with tards like you. Always resort to knee jerk reactions
BCCI tries to make matches and entire tournaments into practice matches by sending in the less talented fellows like Jadeja and garbage like that to represent india.
If I were to select an indian team, guys like Jadeja, Yusuf Pathanm Oja wont be in the frame for selection at all.
I will personally call them and tell them to get lost. They will never get a chance in the indian team for the next 100 years until they are reborn with better skills physical and mental.
The second point is, I will remove Dhoni as a selector and ask him to do just the captaincy. This guy cannot be trusted to select the right name for a new born baby - let alone select a team.
the problem is - he tends to be loyal to players which is good. However, he doesnt care much, if india looses.
He comes up with explanation after explanation. As a captain, we would like him to be a major influence in doing his part to put together a wInning plan for the 2011 world cup.
Knowing him, he would rather be thinking about the next season's IPL. sadly.

I think you forgot to add Ishanth Sharma to the list as well ... from early 2008 he has been a complete failure
Tendulkar is still strong, accepted that,he can still play long innings, accepted that. But age has nothing to do with performance. This statement is false otherwise many senior players would not say bye bye to test cricket.Test cricket requires more fittness than odis,so many peoples even muralidharan reccently said bye bye to test cricket because their body no more supports bowling for so long.Age does have to do with performance,be tendulkar is still going strong

DH - Tendulkar is talking about the indian fascination of finding fault with someone that is successfull.
If a player is giving performance at the highest level and combined with that the fellow is fit and mentally strong, where is the question of age?
On the otherhand we have seen this BCCI fascination of introducing players that havent reached their maturity age into highest level of cricket. This strategy hasn't worked very well, so far.
Take the case of Irfan Pathan, Prathiv Patel. These are fellows that had talent and were never allowed to develop them and hone them in the domestic cricket. They were fast tracked and are nowhere near the national team.
I see many writers here that do a song and dance about the age of the current test players. Now, all you have to do is take a look at the sound beating the india's immature players got in their recent tour of Zimbabwe.
As a fan, I would like BCCI to start focussing on getting the best players to win matches consistantly. I wouldnt want them to experiment with players that have known weaknesses in a test match situation.
You train before the match and play your best players in a match,

Nice observations Talisman....its a fact the BCCI manages to raise funds for them and fill their pockets....But no steps had taken to improve the talent in the Country nor the talent has nurtured & groomed properly before testing them at International platform. We should take lessons from pakistan, the way they are producing young talent especially fast bowlers one after another. This is something that we are missing. After Zaheer, we have not produced a single fast bowler whom we can trust. Similarily after Harbhajan, no other spinner as a backup.

Chandrashekar Rao ... Porkistan cricket board isn't any better than Indian cricket board.
fact the the matter : Porkis love to bowl and Indians love to bat.
If you ever played cricket at any level, you will realize that at grassroot level itself , indians don't want to bowl.
Problem is we are friggin lazy race and always take the easy route. And even if someone bowls , he ends up bowling spin for medium pace since that involves lot less effort.
its not that we have a treasure of bowlers to be found. We are lacking the players that want to be Bowlers plain n simple
Scoring double century in a placid wicket against below average bowling attack and all internet fans in rediff worshipping him? This knock does not deserve much attention as its being given now.

With your logic why only one Indian player could do it..?? The same wkt and same bowling they all faced...?? Shame on ppl who cant appreciate great inning

CM:
True no other Indian player did. It shows Sachin cashed in on where other Indian players didnt. Certainly it does not show Sachin any better than he was. Had it been a challenging attack/wicket, even a 50 odd in dire situation would be rated better. Please remember, Sachin himself and the world over recall his first Perth, Manchester centuries, mind you just being just centuries, not double as quite scitillating.
Extending your argument about other Indian players, Raina scored a century too - would it mean he is greater than Dravid/VVS or he is on par with Sachin.
Lets all Sachin fans give up this hagiography and get real about our hero.

Dear Rekha, I agree with your argument, but here the point is when everyone failed then with this innings, forget about 200, he atleast saved the test match for us. Honestly, tell me after Srilanka posted mamoth Total in 1st Innings, none of us expected the India will win this one. Atleast with this innings he negated the defeat. So, lets appreciate that atleast.

if he has not scored a century or double, then you will tell that sachin even cant't score in placid pitches and against below average bowling. you people only know to find fault on others.
ya its the first time i felt a slight hint of arrogance in sachins statement,..though what he said is true i just dint expect him to come across so strongly..was a bit taken aback when he said that to tony greig..anyway for me he is god and will always be
Re: oh god
by Akash Nair on Jul 31, 2010 09:18 AM
How does stating the obvious become "arrogance"?! You have said what he said was true then what is the problem? Should he be subservient to Tony Greig in your opinion? Give him a break and be proud to have a genius like Sachin in our midst.
Mentally how determined you are to succeed, no matter what come in the way. Its killer instict. Usually most of indian lack this. thats why we live in so much misery and crowding. there is no strong will to focus on work and make our life easy on street. The mentally strong decide your performance and success.
