Winning knocks-highly misunderstood concept
by LG on Jul 31, 2010 02:02 PM  | Hide replies

Winning knocks are not played but a knock of 100 or 200 is converted into winning knock by the bowlers you have in the team.

arey waste LG, all yr statements against sachin. be proud we have sachin for india. i told u already, we indians love to depend on parents or someother one. we dont work hard. same applicable to india team also. all ten players depend on sachin. india needs atleast 2 sachin to win the matches continuously. if one sachin fails, another sachin performs. cricket is not one man show. its a show of eleven players. australians all eleven players performs good, so they wins conitnuously and wins world cups. its better for us talk less about ganguly. no one in the world ready to accept ganguly is a good player but he is luckiest player. he failed in middle. they he got promote to start innings with sachin. with the help of sachin, ganguly performed little bit and luck also helped him. with the help of jagan mohan dalmiya be became famous. gangly also said that thing, sachin helped me lot.

why? What did he say? He was making a general statement in a sense that people should look at performances and not at age of a cricketers. He backed that statement with his own example--at 37yrs of age has has score 200 in ODI and 200 in Test(lasted in the field for full four days).

First check the meaning of arrogant/arrogance and then relate it to what Sachin said or how he spoke.

Hmmmm.... Not sure why you feel anything he said is against you.

The people that write about age here are worried about their own ageing, perhaps.

We Indians have this complex. If someone is more successful than us, we find it very hard to appreciate them.

Instead, it is easy to find fault with them. SAchin is once in a lifetime cricketer. He has the hunger to win and that is good for india.

If only BCCI and Dhoni and Sreekanth will stop the experimentation with guys like JAdeja and pack the indian team with useful cricketers, he will lead us to victory in the 2011 world cup.

Talisman , you spoke my mind .

We Indians have this Terrible Terrible Complex. Actually we have more than 1 complex

1) White mans complex - if a white man says it , it should be right

2) Successful indian Complex : if a non indian achieves something, we are very appreciative, but if a fellow Indian should achieve something, we are suddenly jealous and find ways to bring him/her down, because no Indian should be better than us in our demented mind.

3) Divide and Rule Complex: Sadly 400 years of British rule hasn't taught us anything. we still divide in the name of religion/ sect/ caste/ region/city ... hell even Gulli if given the chance

So wait , lets see here

Ponting/ Aussies can be arrogant till kingdom come
Rest of the world can be arrogant

But sachin err , leading run scorer/ Best Batsman cannot show any level of Pride ( assuming he showed pride in the 1st place)

You know whats the problem ? you are the problem . People like you wont mind rest of the world boasting about their achievements. If a fellow Indian should do it , all hell breaks lose because now the Indian is proclaiming himself better than you , right ?

Agree with Sameer.

Ram Singh - who is the young cricketer you have in mind? It sure cannot be Jadeja or Yuvaraj Singh playing test matches for india.

Can you identify the young turk or turks that are galloping to play for india?

Stupid selection policy costing India dear
by Sameer Bhagwat on Jul 31, 2010 10:30 AM  | Hide replies

Indian outlook is totally defensive. There is no aggressive intent, no planning to take 20 wickets. The selectors are more afraid of losing...so they don't even make any attempt to win. And depend on the toss to try and bat first. Even that will backfire against strong bowling attacks like RSA, Eng, Aus or Pak.

So, never mind the bowlers, Dhoni. Don't pretend that you feel for them. If you really cared about their workload, you would have picked 5 bowlers. Instead you prefer to protect your (already pampered) batsmen.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to see more bowlers go the Flintoff/Murali route: forget tests and make easy money by playing IPL. There also, the bowlers are cannon-fodder, but the torture lasts for much less time, and there is oodles of money on offer.

Summing up, we want more dead pitches so that our Bradmans can boost their test average? After all, shouldn't Sachin get to 50 test hundresds?? Isn't that more important than winning tests?

And sponsors' darling Yuvy is feeling left out...he is sad that he missed scoring some easy runs. He is licking his chops and waiting for the next pitch to be of the same lifeless variety.

Dravid is not performing to the potential and that hunger lost
by SURYAPRAKASH TATA on Jul 31, 2010 09:51 AM  | Hide replies

what surprises me is Dravid is not performing to his potential and his hunge for runs lost. He is just playing and unable to become a team member again since that so called dhoni games of young and youth. Really i dont know, but dravid is no longer a team player. we respect his technique, but love to see the fluent dravid.

Please hold on dear. Dravid had century to his name in the last test played before this series. Just 3 innings later you can't brand that he has lost hunger for runs. He is a class apart like Tendulkar and knows how to deal with these things. Moreover he is our best bet on swinging, bouncy tracks of England, Australia, SA or NZ and has proven records. Just chekc his track record in 2009 and 2010 except for this series. He is absolutely fine and had only two innings failures. He scored 40 plus in the second innings of the first test here and stitched a 100 plus partnership with Tendulkar which eventually proved good enough to save us from the blushes of innings defeat.

Surya we need a change in bowling lineup not in batting. I feel srilankan bowlers did well compared to indians. If australians are in the same pitch they wont allow lankans to score 600. They always come with strategy for type of pitches. But indians are not having any strategy. Simply bowling if they get the ball in the hand. I try to mean strategy as bowling on the legs or outside the offstump. Nothing was there. Only on the final day ojha bowled leg stump line. Why do we need strategy on the 5th day after the match draw? They would have bowled in leg stump line on 1st or 2nd day. So sangakara and jeyawardanae might have taken risks to score their runs.
