Media Mess
by Srini Krish on Dec 21, 2010 07:28 AM  | Hide replies

Media has comletly hyped Sachin and forgot abt Indian team. Dravid also reached 12000..Laxman made a match winning 79 against AUS with tail enders..those things are completly forgotten are not given any coverage.
And not to forget India lost this match. If the same Sachin has been in AUS team..he will be just a another team member..sometime may not be in the team also for his selfish Cricket.
It is simple fact not to expose a tail ender..Can he not see How Steve Waugh and Hussey play. Check Husseys innings of 100 in perth on the 5 days..

Srini Krish

I don't understand people's facination with Aussies. We were world champions before Aussies.
We are #1 in tests since the past year and you are still in the slave mentality of WHITES ?

Laxman hit a match winning 79 , yes. Had this been just another 100, it wouldn't have gotten so much publicity . Its special , 50th test 50. tendy didn't ask for media coverage, right ?

Also how is tendy selfish ? He played the exact same way Laxman did in Mohali for his 79

just in case you don;t have a clue

Total partnership : 130 deliveries ( 21.4 overs)
Ishanth faced 92
Laxman 38

ishanth came to bat at the end of 34th over
Over 35 : Laxman takes a single off 2nd delivery
Over 36,37,38 : laxman takes single off the 1st delivery.

To be honest laxman's contribution in the match was lauded by one and all. No one picked up his risky tactics. To be frank India needed 70 runs to win. In tendy's case, there was no chance for a draw, let alone a win.

It is pathetic as to how people choose to continue being ignorant and hypocritical.

The mistake tendy did was to take the risk of running out of partners, which didn't pay off. Had it paid off, you guys would have whined about something else.

Do u think Sachin can do the magic alone?????It's a team game. Our great batsmen Laxman and Raina failed to score, when the team needs.

I completely agree with Srini Krish. I am not sure how Sachin's fans and Sachin himself would explain this act of exposing the tail enders. I wonder how Sachin would have played if he was on 90 and 8 wickets were down. Would he have still exposed the tail enders? Is it not important enough for India to avoid an innings defeat to gain some psychological advantage? It is however blasphemous in India to ask such questions when Idols are involved!! No interviewer will also ever ask this question to him as everyone wants to me in his good books!!

yes..now you see that Sachin exposed tails..but you didn't when the same was doing Lax in match he scored 79 against Aussies!
There Ishant and Ojha supported him well..but here when Sachin playes innings of time nobody gives him a little support whether it's 136 against Pakistan; 175 against Aussies or here 111* against SA!

sure,

We would also need to analyze why others are not performing besides tendy.

Maybe chuck few bowlers around ?
Maybe bring pujara in place of raina ?

Luckily none of the bowlers is called sachin, they are totally unselfish and therefore do not bother to take 5 wickets...they just warm the benches and expect miracle from sachin!

This is Why Sachin is more than Team India
by super hero on Dec 21, 2010 03:12 AM  | Hide replies

Ask a random passer by, what would you ideally want from Team India?
A non fanatic might say World cup .
A fanatic might say No1 Test status and world cup.
A girl newbie fanatic might say T20 world cup.

And if you ask them why?
Answer: It will make Indians proud. A non-fanatic might not even know
for how many years we have a world cup.All they know is its a big cup
and it will make us proud.

Why are these important anyways? We gave a world cup champion for
every 4 years. T20 chapmions for every 2 years. Constant doubts over
our No1 status and might not hold onto it for more than 2 years.

20 years down the lane, whats so great about winning 2 world cups
(1983,2011) out of 10 world cups so far and almost most of the countries
will have the similar record.Whats so great about winning 2011 world cup?
Indian are champions from 2011-2015. And that too if we loose 5-2 to Aus or
SA, we cant even call them champions for 4 years.

Notable achievements that come to my mind till now
1983 world cup, Titan cup,Hero cup, 96 SF,Sharjah cup,
Natwest trophy, 2003 Finals,T20 World cup,CB Series,No1 Test status.
Except for No1 status, most countries have similar achievements.
But then we have 'SACHIN'.The best bastman ever(Only Bradman can contest).
Most of his records will stay alive forever(If you are cricket fanatic,
then u will know that most of them are impossible to break).A poll in
australia twice this decade said Sachin is the current best player.Ponting
was no-where near in those polls. Current and ex-crickets, commenattors,
everyone alround the world praise him as the best.
That makes me an Indian proud. He is like Dhanychand of Cricket.
He is like a Schumacher ,a Pele, a federer, a Tiger woods.
50 years from now, Indian cricket might become like our Hockey.
Usa, Canada,Ireland,Afghanisthan might be top 4 teams.Your Grand children
might not follow cricket, but they sure will be surprised and happy to hear
that the best player, holder or most runs, centuries is an INDIAN.
He is a phenomenon that happens once in a life time.
I cherish a century from Sachin more than an Indian victory.
This insight is just for Non-fanatics to weigh Team Indian
against Sachin Achievements.
Pakis with Indian names here and other morons with disgruntled lives
who have to vent their frustration on someone, can keep trashin Sachin.
Infact, its no fun without u guys.Sometimes ur comments make me laugh.
Keep coming guys.

in that case we should be proud of rvaindra jadeja, since he is getting free place in the team. Sachin is performing and therefore should quit since a team with one khiladi and ten anadis can never win..

Lallu Topiwala:

THAT is not the news.
The real news is that none of the other Indian "batsmen" are capable of scoring 10 runs; and none of the so called Indian bowlers can take wickets - which is what wins Test matches if you knew anything about cricket...

So keep spreading hatred filled messages for a long time... all the best...

we could have won had there been more decent balling or saved the match with better batting from others. They can assume Sachin is useless like you do and try and win anyways.

Zaheer road to Indian team vs Unadkat....
by NashikMarathi on Dec 20, 2010 08:57 PM  | Hide replies

Zaheer Khan yorked his way into the Indian team around 2000 by winning the Ranji Trophy for Baroda. Absolutely legit performance.

Now tell me what has Unadkat done to deserve the spot in the team over the likes of say Dhawal Kulkarni who was part of the Mumbai Ranji winning team twice. From cricinfo here is his description "In his first Ranji season, he emerged the tournament's most successful bowler, taking 42 wickets and invariably providing early breakthroughs for Mumbai, the eventual winners. "

What more has he to do to get selected vs Unadkat or Jaidev Yadav?

Sachin's tactics hard to swallow
by Bowrie RK on Dec 20, 2010 08:56 PM  | Hide replies

To see Sachin taking singles when he had 10th and 11th no. batsmen at other end and that too when SA fast bowling battery was in operation, it looked as if Sachin knew the defeat is coming so why to bother to shield the tail. A player of his calibre was expected to fight all the way by trying to keep the strike, which he did not do. Sad, personal records may come and go but this tactic of Sachin also shows him in poor light.

Did Lax shield Ishant or Ojha in the match against Aussies when he made 79?
or forget about the single match but everytime he plays with tails he does the same! no..check his innings then and you'll get the answer! He every time does the same and nobody gives a damn about that then!

made sure that he remained not out to boost his career avg. atleast he could have tried to score some fast runs to wipe off the deficit. instead exposed tail and kept his record intact. defeat by 8,9,10 wickets is better than innings defeat.

So you think, he should have falshed a couple of quicky boundries when he was at 70-80 and then got out playing a rashy shot? Clearly, there was a need for the batsman to stay at wicket than get out scroing runs hurriedly. He stayed at the wicket, you say he was there to boost his average. If he had got out, ppl would have said ' what is the use of his experience, he should have stayed at the wicket to save the match. He exactly did that but unfortunately there was no one else to support him. Team is made of 11 players, not one person

I just don't get this argument. The guy was not out in the 2nd essay.11 people make a team. The bowlers were a nightmare in the only SA innings and could not buy a wicket with their life. How is all this Sachin's fault? What about Sehwag's atrocious stroke in the 2nd innings when they were so well set? Where was the need for that airy fairy shot? Kapil was benched for the only time in his career in 1984 Dec. for a similar shot in Kolkata. What about Laxman and Raina? The coaches and BCCI were so hell bent on getting rid of Ganguly. Yuvraj and Raina have proved how difficult it is to replace Ganguly, the least talented of the great quartet. Wait till Sachin, Rahul and VVS retire en masse. We will have the longest tail in the world.
