made sure that he remained not out to boost his career avg. atleast he could have tried to score some fast runs to wipe off the deficit. instead exposed tail and kept his record intact. defeat by 8,9,10 wickets is better than innings defeat. SELFISH PLAYER WHO PLAYS FOR PERSONAL RECORDS...

So you think, he should have falshed a couple of quicky boundries when he was at 70-80 and then got out playing a rashy shot? Clearly, there was a need for the batsman to stay at wicket than get out scroing runs hurriedly. He stayed at the wicket, you say he was there to boost his average. If he had got out, ppl would have said ' what is the use of his experience, he should have stayed at the wicket to save the match. He exactly did that but unfortunately there was no one else to support him. Team is made of 11 players, not one person

I just don't get this argument. The guy was not out in the 2nd essay.11 people make a team. The bowlers were a nightmare in the only SA innings and could not buy a wicket with their life. How is all this Sachin's fault? What about Sehwag's atrocious stroke in the 2nd innings when they were so well set? Where was the need for that airy fairy shot? Kapil was benched for the only time in his career in 1984 Dec. for a similar shot in Kolkata. What about Laxman and Raina? The coaches and BCCI were so hell bent on getting rid of Ganguly. Yuvraj and Raina have proved how difficult it is to replace Ganguly, the least talented of the great quartet. Wait till Sachin, Rahul and VVS retire en masse. We will have the longest tail in the world.

Ignorant; you think its a wish of player on how they play; you should know its a struggle; The runs which he gets take with him to home right; they didnt add up to the total or what?

Hey tiptop.... Ya..he did all that to boost his career average by 0.4... Wow he was dying to see that 0.4 increase in his average... Wash your brain with soap dude!!!
Re: SA
by mukund vaidya on Dec 20, 2010 08:22 PM
so abhijit what is so surprising in that? you think boycott's grandmother will ever go out to play cricket?
why rest of SA bowlers even 2 opening bowlers of SA are useless. they will not be able to get even MY grandmother out.
Re: SA
by sundar raju on Dec 20, 2010 08:07 PM
then our quicks are boycotts great grand mothers not getting out so bad they are dont comment on SA their batsman thrashed our quicksa u dude
If Tendulkar has got that 50th hundred in the first innings instead of second innings in this test we would like to celebrate as much as possible... and again Sachin should have taken more strike and tried to avoid the innings defeat atleast... as we know he is playing for centuries instead of India Win or India's draw in this match or at least yes at least tried to avoided the innings defeat... Let us see in the next two matches whether he plays for himself or for India to Win...
Re: Re: Sachin's worst 50th hundred in this second innings...
by bv gokula on Dec 20, 2010 08:12 PM
yes i fully agree with you. century in the first innings would have been excellent. it just shows he plays for himself a

by Kab Kahn on Dec 20, 2010 08:54 PM
you mean he should have known that beforehand that India is going to score paltry 136 and then SA will post 620 odd runs so that he should score more runs in 1st innings itself. Is he a time machine to know this. And he is suppose to score runs while others are supposed to do what - clap? In the pitch, weather were not supporting in 1st innings that is why everyone failed (he is still top scorer in 1st inning). When he makes runs, ppl say he is selfish, when he does not make run, ppl want to him to score more - what the heck...!

Can't put it better......absolutely spot on Mr Khan
At 36 Sachin has become the longest serving cricketer for India but just because someone enjoys playing cricket is no criteria to be in the national team.

@ sameer, wht the hell do u know about good performance, it is counted only if it helps ur country not ur own records always stop blabbering sachin sachin...he is just another record holder who can never win a world cup for india...
Re: Re: Re: Bow out
by Kab Kahn on Dec 20, 2010 08:58 PM
He is top scorer in both the innings. You want him to score runs or dont? Pls make up your mind. Whatever he scored, went to add to India's total. He is 37 years old and still better than those who are 27-28.

dude sameer, I read rediff comments all the time, but I have to say this is the funniest I have read. Millionaire one was simply amazing. lol
When AUS and WI were no.1 they were never whitewashed in a test series , hope India would not suffer such dubious record. I wanted India to win 3-0 in SA but by look of things Dhoni could be losing his first series as skipper. Durban next venue is where India generally got thrashed in Tests

Well I hate SA cricket , esp their media and crowd who rarely appreciate good cricket from opposition. It is not like that in AUS,Eng and India. They may have appreciated Sachin 's 50 th century but those are rare and exceptional

abhijit, forget SA media and crowd, who rarely appreciate good cricket from opposition. abhijit, you are those type who rarely appreciates good cricket even from your OWN side. rarely heard you appreciating good cricket from anybody other than sachin.

sameer, it is not our bowlers who is the WEAK link. in fact because our bowlers are our STRONGEST link that we are no. 1.
time and again i have emphasized this.
sameer test cricket is the only format where we have to take all the opposition wickets to win. only bowlers take wickets. and if under dhoni we have won 13 tests out of 22 odd then it is because of our bowlers. batsmen score runs. they do not take wickets. surprising how previous indian captains with better bowling attacks than this never able to win 13 tests out of 22.
sameer, out of 52 tests that dhoni has played india have won 22 lost 9 and drawn 21. under dhoni it is won 13 lost 3 and drawn 6 under others (dravid, kumble and sehwag) india won 9 lost 6 and drawn 15.
another fact to be appreciated is also that out of 13 odd wins in 22 tests under dhoni, kumble did not play a SINGLE test.
out of other 30 tests kumble has played many.
sameer, think about it with whatever little brains you have.

only those 2 are good rest of SA attack would not even get Geoff boycott's grandmother out
Sachin's 50 centuries are good..why in the world he would he expose someone like the 11th and 10th batsmen to Morkel and Stern? Will he follow the same tactis if India were to score 33 runs for a win. I do not agree with SRT's approach today...and I am smith did not agree either. To me it was a selfish tactis. He did the same thing in Sydney(2008). He should have gone for some runs and taken the strike.

India lost the match way before that. Alleast now those tailenders will learn from SA fast bowlers about how to bowl. Laxman trusted Ishant and won the match. This was a hopeless situation.
plz sir plz retire we dont want records we want india should win plz retire god enemy snake pig bear cat dog tiger snail ant lord sachi u hav many names retire

I also noticed the same problem with Gambhir, Raina, Unadkat, and Dhoni too.... They too don't retire and give others a chance... I think the entire Indian team is full of selfish people...
Now if YOU were in Indian team, you would no doubt hit 2 fours in 3 balls and retire from International cricket to give chance to youngsters.... Right? ;-)
