more dangerous than a offender like Randiv.

But it is myopic thinking to focus only on Randiv and making it a big issue as if he is the only one in the history of cricket.

Sehwag is no saint as far as violation of spirit of game is concerned. By making this an issue, Sehwag has showed that he is a hypocrite when he says I do not play for 100 or century. That is my point. I have no problem if player play for 100 because it goes to Team score.

Someone mentioned that Sachin was also left on 98 or 99 (?), I do not remember Sachin making it a big issue.

Yes, Sachin raised his voice when a certain Jaychands raised head (denying 200 deliberately)in Indian cricket. We should criticize Jaychands of Indian crickets more.

Its not like Randiv is the only one to do..

But the things need to be stopped at some stage.. Tomorrow, a Ojha will bowl a no ball when Sanga is batting on 99.. Or a Hauritz ll bowl a no ball by a foot when Pieterson is on 99..

Why should the ugly thing repeat itself by discarding as "He is not the first one to do"???

When Sachin was batting, that was a low full toss on pads.. Nothing can be done and it went legbye four.. None can argue that he bowled the full toss intentionally(Even if it was done!!).. Plus, Malinga used to bowl yorkers at leg stump and can be ignored as a missent delivery..

How can u ignore a one foot overstep no ball????

Its a dead issue as far as match is concerned.. But something need to be done to stop this nonsense..

Its at best an act of churlish gamesmanship, there is no point in making it appear as the "Crime of the century". In fact the 4 byes conceded by Sanga before the no-ball also was dodgy as any team would make the best effort to save runs even in a lost cause. We did not see any fielder chasing the ball and trying to stop it.

What is worrying is the Hindi news channels going to town with irrational and rabble rousing statements that Srilanka has replaced Pakistan and Australia as "cheaters". This incident cant be classified as cheating. At best a childish gamesmanship act which I am sure is going to haunt Suraj Randiv throughout his life. Lets not waste too much breath about it and move on....

No ball is not a issue.. Had he bowled a close no ball, none would have been aware of its deliberateness.. But bowling by a foot showed his inexperience.. Malinga who did to Sachin bowled a full toss on pads and made it a legbye four!! Thats experience for u...

I thinks some action needed to be taken.. Atleast a official warning...

Otherwise, a Ojha will bowl a no ball when Sanga is batting on 99.. Or a Hauritz ll bowl a no ball by a foot when Pieterson is on 99..

Why should the ugly thing repeat itself by discarding as "He is not the first one to do"???

In a pond, which contains 50% rotten fish, it is stupid or unfair to blame the last rotten fish added to the pond, for making the pond dirty.

Randiv should be banned
by Alok Pande on Aug 18, 2010 10:13 AM

I agree with Mr. Bedi for banning Randiv. Sangakara should also be banned from playing 5 games. It should be declared that Sehwag had scored a century and the records should be corrected likewise.

Sehwag--a hypocrite
by LG on Aug 18, 2010 10:11 AM  | Hide replies

Sehwag is the biggest hypocrite; He has been boasting publicly," I do not play for 100". On the contrary he does care and play for 100 and he says so to get away from taking responsibility of playing reckless shot.

If he really did not care , he should have let Indian team management to take care of this incident instead of him making it a big issue.

He has lost my respect. First of all he should know that he is no saint as far as violation of spirit of the game is concerned.

LG, going by your standards, in one of the incidents earliers, when Sachin openly cried foul and criticized his captain for not allowing to score a double hundred, though it was hindering team's progress towards victory, what should we all have called him? Hypocrite, selfish, publicity monger?

Sehwag does not required any kind of publicity. He is well known cricketer in the world. Randiv did it deliberately hence sehwag reacted. Any player would have reacted the same except tendulkar.

Sachin gets his backing bcoz of his clean behaviour. Even whole world respect him. Its unfortunate that he is criticised more in INDIA. You are damn blind that you could not see the sangakkara's dirty mentality. He is a very bad looser. After levelling test series on his own turf, he says though series levelled his was the best side. He wonders how INDIA can be No.1 . Shamelessly his team lost 2-0 (clean swept) in INDIA which he could easily forget.
