When did Gill become the Commissioner of Liquor or the arbiter of behavior at private games? And in case he hasn't noticed, IPL is not a govt-controlled entity but a private business. And in case he's forgotten, India is a free, open secular democratic country, not fiefdoms subjected to the whims of a few self-righteous, sanctimonious MLAs. And why waste money on having a "sports" ministry with its hordes of useless babus sitting on their butts doing zilch, when everyone knows sports is not something Indians "do".

My Friend there is Always a Code of Conduct for Players and the Spectators who watch the Game. Mr.Gill is very Right to Emphasize this matters, be it Govt. Or Private. U cannot do things in your own way, impairing normal Discipline in Sports Areana. IPL SHOULD BAN SALE OR CONSUMPTION OF LIQUOR IMMEDIATELY IN ALL MATCHES.
Cong MLA`s are asking for luxury flats being constructed at cwg villages.they say they don`t have houses and they want those flats at special rates.they r protesting against ipl bcoz they didn`t got money from the organizers for this.

Mr. Gill if you claim Indians are educated and civilized then you don't have to worry about liquor at stadiums. After all wasn't it Indians like you that asked for reform in the attitudes of people in this country ??? it's always gonna be a curse to Indians that they shall continue to embrace all the NASTY and BAD stuff Westerners left behind in our land. India's culture has already been destroyed. It's a little too late to speak about values and morals now. The IPL is an entertainment much like Bollywood. I guess this liquor is equivalent to popcorn at cineplexes.
IF you can equate drugs and sport along with book makers then I don't see anything wrong with liquor at stadiums as long as the cricketers don't consume it during matches. So Mr.Gill please get your turban straight and concentrate on how to improve our country's sporting standards OTHER THAN cricket. We need more OLYMPIANS and FOOTBALLERS. So do something about it rather than taking pot shots at Lalit Modi's venture.

sala sardaar back door entry bureaucrat. He has become sports minister just becoz of Manmohan singh Sardar ji.
Why and how can he have a problem on liquor in stadiums. If someone is ready to pay then stopping someone having liquor is like infringing in right to liberty
havnt these f...... ministers find any other issue?? there are bigger issues around us.... y don they do their work.?? If govt sells liquor at outlets and bars(gulping commission/tax), wats wrong in drinking socially at stadiums??? The other countries do the same and they are at no.1. so pls minister try to do something productive to sports.

Who consumed? If audience consumed it is ok. If players consumed before playing, please call respective owner of IPL team and complain to them. Why he is making a public statement?
it also looks like in IPL beating is running the game ,one game is poised well to a team and suddenly momentum suddenlly shift to the other team ,which looks like loosing. money is running the ipl ,government should get altest get 30% money back as tax , all these money run is indirectly incereses the price of comodities we poor Indians who are going to buy.

First check ur facts before writing...ipl has just paid Rs.200 Crores towards tax for part of the matches and other amount will follow in due course....atleast they are helping in generating revenue for the govt. which has lost all the means to generate more revenue.....liquor consumption also adds to the revenue and its not like everybody in the stadium are drinking.....if they really are concerned about todays youth, why there is not ban on tobacco, liquor, well my friend...the revenue and tax paid by tobacco companies are tooo too high...so no ban can be imposed....

In Goa, why people have drinks on the beaches, why there is no ban on that, even young kids are there with the family members, wont that affect their minds ????
Sure its not an ideal situation to go ahead with the present idea but if the Government is so much concerned about alcohol consumption and disruption of families and youth, why it cant ban it completely?Highest revenue generated is by the liquor. As everyone knows harms of smoking, why Government wont ban it from manufacturing and selling also?If so much determined to do something, then should do it to the core so as to eradicate the problem. Its nothing but bringing up one more topic and it'll end as dud.
