There should be an age limit for sports ministers
by Jay Sheth on Apr 02, 2010 07:30 PM  | Hide replies

While we always talk about picking young players for all the sports, there should also be a qualification criteria for the minister job. They should have a sports back ground and be under 55 years of age. After that age their brains start to freeze like this..ha..ha..

IPL has already intoxicated the youth. its not cricket alone! the cheer leaders ! has done its damage.

And you nut! can't you realise the magnamity of the law and order problems that go along with liquor.

AND REMEMBER THEY HAVE TO DRIVE BACK HOME. GOD SAVE THOSE ON THE STREET THEN.

It is selfish people like u that should be banned from entering the stadium. Did you ever think about others that dont want to consume alcohol - you pea brain.

Talisman...I agree with your view...but I doubt you have ever been to a stadium to watch a match...if you have not...let me EDUCATE you...liquor is only allowed in the VIP & Corporate stands....if you have to blame anyone...then blame the media who focus their camera twds them when these ppl have the right to privacy...Imagine if YOU can enjoy cricket while having a drink standing in local bar...why cant they have it when they sponsoring the whole goddamn show... jaake apne bancho ko sambal...bewada kahi ka!

I have a pea brain but you have a big buffalo brain that is not working idiot!! Sucking moral idiot, stay home and watch Ramayana. If you worry so much about people drinking, stop your son from drinking when he grows up. You are a prime example of the stupid old age mentality that doesn't let our country grow. Thank God, I am living among idiots like you and your father Gill.

Jay - It takes me no time to take a hit at your family and call your father and mother names.

Your pea brain obviously over heated and has a lot of growing up to do.

IPL with a nice chilled beer is even more fun...
by Indian Saint on Apr 02, 2010 07:26 PM

why this spoil sport?
Plz don't try to moralize everything. As long as the people are 18 , we have to assume that each knows what he/ she should do. banish all the moral police

Dirty politics
by Jay Sheth on Apr 02, 2010 07:26 PM

I also have problems with these dirty politicians playing the morality card while they abuse innocent people, drink like crazy and corrupt the system. There is always more black money made by the police and government prohibiting alcohol in a state (for example Gujarat) or in sports. If I happen to go back to India to watch a sport game, I wish they serve alcohol and lots of it.....

Sports Minister
by sanath on Apr 02, 2010 07:24 PM

I have never heard of Sports Minister Gill doing anything productive for sports in India, but have heard his nonsensical comments about anything and everything, starting from saying that T20 WC victory has no value, to Bhajji and Dhoni's padma awards, to trying to dictate what colors should be worn (or not worn) by IPL teams ! Very strange minister...and to think a person like Sunil Dutt used to be the minister, who encouraged sportsmen and sports !

Stadiums or Stadia?
by Satyesh Vaniawala on Apr 02, 2010 07:23 PM  | Hide replies

India's sports minister Manohar Singh Gill on Friday warned the Indian Premier League [ Images ] (IPL) organisers over serving liquor inside the "stadiums" during matches. Here, plural of "stadium" is "stadia", and not "stadiums", as mentioned in the news item. Rediff, please take note of this.

Wake up Gill....
by Jay Sheth on Apr 02, 2010 07:21 PM

This is an example of the sports minister not knowing what is happening around the world. You go to any western country, people go to sports to enjoy and have fun. There is never a question about morality and other crap with people drinking alcohol during a game. This guy looks frustrated for some reason. He must be drinking a lot of alcohol at home....

RIGHT TO FREEDOM
by justathot on Apr 02, 2010 07:06 PM

Even other rights are taken to such an extreme that laws had to be made to curb the misuse of all the rights. Pleasure and procreation are primitive and ancient as the life itself is. IPL is promoting alcoholism among the consumers at a time when our nation needs people on a large scale with steady heads on their shoulders. tc
