Ban it completely if so much concerned
by RAVINDRA MUNOLI on Apr 02, 2010 06:53 PM

Sure its not an ideal situation to go ahead with the present idea but if the Government is so much concerned about alcohol consumption and disruption of families and youth, why it cant ban it completely?Highest revenue generated is by the liquor. As everyone knows harms of smoking, why Government wont ban it from manufacturing and selling also?If so much determined to do something, then should do it to the core so as to eradicate the problem. Its nothing but bringing up one more topic and it'll end as dud.

What is wrong
by Vivek Raj on Apr 02, 2010 06:38 PM  | Hide replies

IPL is a business and not a sport, there is no harm in using newer policies for development of the business,

what is wrong in serving alcohol, if that makes the spectator enjoy more let him have the value for money paid,

Here again politicians should stop interfering, they have better priorities.

Its very much a serious concern when someone says "what is wrong in serving alcohol?"..You people just go to a pub and enjoy till the last sip..The IPL should not entertain this type of nasty policies that is not good for the future generations of our country .

well the IPL format is completely western.... Mr. Modi has copied IPL exactly from EPL or other leagues in the west. So this is expected... if cheer leaders are ok, so should be alcohol.

We drink... many are so happy enjoying pre-marital consensual sex.. our guys even rape the foreign women as well...but outside we make these cries of hypocracy... what is the big problem when ppl are served beer...why should we not consume alcohol openly... what difference does it make if we drink in a bar or in a stadium... goddamn... i hate myself responding to this crap

A mistake cannot b a reason to commit another. And then the analogy yr trying to draw - I disagree to that.
The basic aim of starting IPL was to find new cricketing talents in the country and grooming them by playing against some good international players - both Indian as well as foreign. However, just 2 years down the line, the commercialisation and bizness proposition has taken over the basic aim of developing cricketing talents. The diversion and the shift clearly is visible. With cheerleaders around, Bollywood and industry bigwigs making their presence felt and even influencing a few things here n there, the new concept of IPL party being introduced, and with such non-cricketing activities growing, where does the game stand then? The element of the game is surely diminishing, to say the least. If over n above this, liquor is allowed in the stadias, r V not inviting a chance offa law n order problem?
With too much interference and influence of bollywood, glamour and industry big wigs, the basic purpose of the game is hit badly, and its getting money oriented more n more now. No wonder, IPL is only damaging the sport at the national level, and other sportsmen r made to feel small n inferior - moneyw.
If liquor is allowed, then let cricket stop here - let it b a free flow of liquor and every other by-products that come with it. As goes the saying 'sharaab aur shabaab me ek saath doob jaayein'. Let's rechristen IPL to 'Indian Premier Liquor', and 'Indian Party of Li

Take a walk Mr. Gill.. Stop interfering in unnecessary things and get about your job.
Nothing wrong in serving beer in stadiums as long as there are bouncers to take care of excessive drinkers. Simply throw out inebriated people causing trouble and let others enjoy the show.

I fully agree with the Minister. If IPL is a true sports event, liquor should not be served. Even there is no need of cheer leaders. Rather the players might be getting distracted by their presence/actions.

An ardent cricket lovers will be interested in the proceedings of the game.

yes..I agree with u.When lots of money pour into IPL,definitely the concentration and quality of the players will decrease..First it started with cheer leaders and now liquor..Is it a place to watch cricket or just booze??the people who come with family with children, what is the msg we give to our children? Are we telling them that nothing wrong to drink?Drinking is not enjoyment..Its spoiling ones health..Those who are supporting liquor, should think twice
