Amit Sharma
by Sharath Reddy on Mar 30, 2009 03:18 AM

Where is Amit Sharma? Why is he not in the team. He is definitely lot better and operates with common sense when compared to an idiot like Munaf Patel (always yawning on the cricket field and laughs whenever he is hit for boundaries. Dhoni was livid when he was being hit for a barrage of boundaries in the ODI match)

India batsmen showed their determination
by Calspadeaspade on Mar 30, 2009 02:47 AM

They did not lose a single wicket the whole day. Dravid was not really out. That is the spirit. This test is a trainin and lesson on patience and guts. If India pulls a draw it will be so creditable. Most exciting match. NZ was brilliant.Let u ssee what or batsmen do today.

Useless players
by Sharath Reddy on Mar 30, 2009 02:03 AM  | Hide replies

A simple cricket fan like me can make out which player has the potential to make it big in the team and who doesn't. If one looks at players like Dinesh Karthik and Munaf Patel one can tell within 15 minutes of watching their action/personality that they are of no use. I am amazed howcome selectors can't figure it out. The 4 useless members in the team right now are

Munaf Patel (remember how he was laughing after bowling mindlessly in the 1 day game that NZ were chasing down 390 odd runs India made)

Dinesh Karthik (I am not sure why he is in the team in the first place. He belongs to the long list of those useless players like Nayan Mongia, Praveen Amre, Saba Karim who are always confused and seem to lack purpose in life)

Rohit Sharma (The biggest irritation for me right now in the Indian team. He is one of those inept & vague players like Mohammad kaif. No one ever can understand who is giving these kind of players chances and why? They are born to loose type)

Yusuf Pathan (Leads the pack of brainless players India ever produced. Perfect title for players of this type is 'Sweat Managers'. Pure Labor material. There is no smartness to them. Examples are Srinath (batting), Bedade, Uthappa, Sunil Joshi)

Special case: Mr. Vague is Gautam Gambhir:
Gautam Gambhir (It has become a regularity for him to give a catch in the slips trying to guide the ball behind stumps. He is just like Robin Uthappa, getting out by repeatedly playing that ugly reverse sweep everytime in IPL)

according to you we must outsource our cricket to Australia and south Africa. get a life. According to you tellus who shoud be selected? I can understand your criticizing D.Kartik. But why Gambir? he is the one along with Dravid saved iNdia. he has made a century. He has improved a lot. he has grit and determination.

As an opener one is supposed to be much more consistent than what he has been. If he made 100 that's good but he was beaten quite often and NZ put down couple of chances as well. If you observe the way he got out since the toor began everytime he has been very edgy and gave catching practice to the slips.

I agree. But definitely he is improving comapred to YUvi who will never learn anything. In cricket there are always chances. But I admire his patience in losting one full day which people like Yuvi can not. I am not blaming Sehwag because as a opener they might have lost concentration after fielding for 2 days continuously.

Sehwag Factor
by Sharath Reddy on Mar 30, 2009 01:54 AM  | Hide replies

If India manage to bat until tea...I seriously hope Hope sehwag doesn't play any more spoilsport by putting NZ to bat even before we reach saftey. Sehwag is the biggest brainless captain I have witnessed till now. Selectors should take this seriously and prepare someone else for the task in case if the situation arises in future again.

Please forgive sehwag. This captaincy was not expected. He can not get into the captain mode all on asudden. But givr credit to NZ. They were brilliant. It happens.

It's unforgivable... such an important match (considering we never won a series in NZ for so long) and a senior player like him was clueless. Sending Ishant Sharma as Nightwatchmen was the most stupidest decision of all. And played like a jerk in both the innings. There are no excuses for things like these. It's actually selectors & team managements fault. He was never a captaincy material.

i believe UV should be given more chances. Can you think of any other capable test players who can take ganguly's spot other than yuvraj?

Crucial First Session
by Karthikeyan Bose on Mar 30, 2009 01:30 AM  | Hide replies

We have seen Indian team collapse more often in the past. After VVS and UVraj India has got a long tail. If India can save this match then I would rate this game as the second best game (obviously the first one will be against Australia in Eden Gardens)in last 10 years of Indian Test cricket.

Our pace is good. But spinners are not effective. harbhajan has lost it . He was so lethal in that match in Eden garden. It was because of him and Dravid ans VVS India won. Remember all these players were in top form.

Almost impossible task
by Maneesh Jain on Mar 30, 2009 12:53 AM  | Hide replies

It was heartening to see India put a brave fight bt I would only give India 30% chance of saving this test. I wish they had done this in the first innings. This will be a forgettabe test for Sehwag. I don't know what he was thinking. He should have scored at least a double century in the test. NZ only have to get two wickets and they will run thru rest of them. People like Karthik should be banned from all forms of cricket. After a long wait he gets a lucky break and he bats like no. 11. Yuvraj should not be included in the test team. I wish they had Pujara in the team. God
knows what Vijay is doing in the team.

Relax ... Either u have never seen cricket in ur life or u are just one of those negetive minded indians who are never happy with anything that we do .... u wanna drop yuvraj well u dont knw these facts then ... Yuvraj was included in India's Test squad to face Pakistan, but was not included in the playing 11 for the first test. Yuvraj was picked in the 3rd Test due to an injured Sachin Tendulkar. India were 61/4 before he and Sourav Ganguly made a 300 run partnership with Yuvraj recording his highest Test score of 169. this was in the beginning of 2008 and then just recently Yuvraj scored 85* and put on an unbroken partnership of 163 with Sachin Tendulkar to defeat England in the First Test at Chennai. It was the fourth highest successful run chase in history and the highest in India. So if he fails in a few innings does not mean he is removed. ... look at it this way ... ur boss fires u from ur job because u had one bad presentation.... no fair is it ... Kartik is a replacement player. Does not matter if he is in or out anyways ... he was taken only as a back up ...
