Suddenly from many quarters it has been saying that this Kiwi Team is very weak team, weakest of all, India played last 20 or 30 years. But this team was very good in Australia only a fortnight before. Mr. Sourav Ganguli also has the same opinion I found in a Bangali Newspaper. I don't know why some people always tell the opposition is week while India wins instead of accepting Indian supremacy.

Well said. The problem is with our mentality where we believe all the teams are better than us and so if a team loses to India, then it wd mean they were weak team!

srikkanth? 17 off 6 balls with 3 fours...31 off 11 balls with 1 six and 4 fours etc. the man with the ability to move every muscle on his face was always out within first 5 overs. most of the time caught by WK.

i think manjrekar is a better player than sehwag.. he had good command in the cricketing field.. dont think sehwag can match manjrekar or for that matter even vengsarkar..
I looked at cricinfo statistics of - ODI fastest 50's - ODI fastest 100's - ODI highest strike rate (I eliminated players with less than 30 avg and less than 2000 runs) There are only 3 players who are present in all the three list. 1. Jayasuriya (SR = 91.13, Avg = 32.71, Test SR = ?, Test Avg = 40.07) 2. Sehwag (SR = 101.66, Avg = 34.30, Test SR = 78.14, Test Avg = 51.06) 3. Yuvraj (SR = 88.89, Avg = 37.57, Test SR = 56.87, Test Avg = 36.05)
Add to this the fact that Sehwag has 2 test triple centuries including the fastest one - I think it is obvious who is the most destructive batsman of all time!
Stat:Bilateral series (where India is involved)after series win in Newzealand - 2009)
78,34,35,9 (total no. of series (bilateral only) played so far, no of series wins, no. of series lost, no. of series drawn) (series includes Home, Away and Neutral venues)
ppl are impressed by Shewag cuz he hit 6 when he was 94. Care to know who holds world record of hitting 6 to reach century??
Guess?? Its sachin Tendulkar max times- 7 times -- cricinfo website source..
So now eat the words -- Even inyoung days sachin use to play for gallery and hit six to reach 100.With maturity you become responsible.Even Shewag will slow down innext 3-4 days and play with maturity.sachin 163 was so sublime.Due to flat track we get bullies like Shewag,Cricket's tragegy is Shewag's glory, due to flat tracks there are no good bowlers. Do you think shewag would have played fearlessly against 80's 90's fast bowlers on seaming pitches??? 2003 world cup? 2007 world cup Shewag was failure and lets not forget in 2007 shewag had horrible time in england & westindies. He was also dropped. So dont glorify the flat track bully.

"With maturity you become responsible" So, u agree Sachin was an irresponsible player. Also, when u r resposible and are scoring runs at such blistering rate then no one needs ur maturity. Sehwag's hundred is useless as it is made on a flat track but Sachins 163 is sublime, track was the same, bowlers were the same. Why to different ways of looking at things.

WELL I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH SUSHMA......THIS FLAT PITCHES AND SMALL GROUNDS IN NZ IS THE ONLY REASON WHY SEHWAG SCORING RUNS....IF U SEE HIS INNINGS OF 125* ..HE HAS HARDLY MIDDLED THE BALL AND STILL GOT THOSE SIXES WHICH OTHERWISE IN BIGGER GROUND WOULD EASILY HAVE BEEN CAUGHT....AND ON THE CONTRARY IF YOU SEE THE INNINGS OF YUVRAJ IN 3RD ODI...HIS SIXES WERE HUGE ONE'S WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN SIXES IN BIGGER GROUNDS AS WELL....SO I STILL HAVE DOUBT FOR SEHWAG AS THE BIGGEST MATCH WINNER IN INDIA...RATHER I PUT YUVRAJ AT TOP FOLLOWED BY SACHIN TENDULKAR AS ONE OF THE BIG MATCH WINNERS IN INDIA....I PUT SACHIN AFTER YURAJ BCOZ AT THE MOMEMT YUVRAJ CAN BE MORE DESTRUCTIVE THAN SACHIN AT TIMES AND YUVRAJ CAN PLAY WAITING GAME AS WELL WHICH SEHWAG CANNOT PLAY AT ANY STAGE.....SO FINALLY I WOULD SAY YES ITS OK THAT SEHWAG IS BLISTERING OUT IN NZ ONLY DUE TO FLAT PITCHES AND SMALL GROUNDS....LETS SEE IN TEST MATCHES....

Why do you need to praise Tendulkar, even afer 100 years of cricket, everything needs to be changed, yesterday-Sachin today Sehwag and tommorow some one else, why you are feared to accept the change ?

this forum sees lots of second-handers, methinks. excerpts from times of india and other newspapers are merrily reproduced here.sometimes verbatim.

absolutely - last time, NZ wickets were seeming and Shewag was the only one to score. pl check the facts. Sushma seems to be too obsessed with Tendulkar. Though I am too, but I will rate Shewag higher not bcas of y'day 100 - but his record overall in pitches in Aus, NZ, England etc.
Just check just the 2 innings - 200 against Aug last year in Aus and 200 against SL in SL - check how much team scored in those two games (particularly Fab 4) and tell me if it is flat pitch.
And Sushma - stop your non-sense and stupid views.

just want to add to what Chennai tiger said that Sehwag was the best batsmen in the last tour, but, still he had to make way for Tendulkar for the opening slot in the world cup. Tendulkar just cannot think of coming down.
we do praise every player but we forget the support staff. kristen, prasad, robin are doing fabulous work behind the screen as a result the team showing great results and they are playing fearless cricket and filling fear in the opposition feam hearts, great work guys
Re: THANKS TO DRAVID OR CREDIT GOES TO DRAVID
by Chennai Tiger on Mar 13, 2009 03:27 AM
another non-sense. Shewag lost his place when Dravid was captain.
Give credit to Shewag for his talent, to some extent captain & coach, and also to Ganguly who made him as opener when everyone else was against it. Does anyone remember Shewag was a mid-order bat when he made debut & also scored a century in SA against SA ?
Definitely not Dravid - he is holding his place with his past records at this moment.

when shewag going thru a bad phase dravid was the one who supported him to come good. All these players who are playing now were in Rahul's team also. They were then new comers just coming of age. but now they are improved a lot give credit to IPL and support from Dravid. I am not saying he was responsible for these wins but definitely the change in the attitude mindset started from him. A seed was grown when Dravid was captain now Dhoni is enjoying the fruits! It's good for Indian Cricket.
its that feeling i got as a kid watching richards, or other such batsmen who when they arrived at the crease created fear not only amongst bowlers, but amongst the fans as well. i remember the time when saeed anwar blasted through the indian bowling at chennai, i remember the times when cairns, miandad, gilchrist, slater, klusener etc created similar havoc
