Attitude probs !!
by Mandeep Kumar on Jun 10, 2009 11:53 AM  | Hide replies

I have been closely monitoring Dhonis attitude in the recent past and it is true that he has indeed brought success upon his head...His attitude suggests that he should be considered the "Ultimate Boss" and it is quite natural that the senior pro would dislike that...He is no longer the earlier Dhoni that I used to admire long time ago !!

I feel he is a no-nonsense guy and nothing wrong if he makes it clear who is the boss. Look what happened with Kolkatta Knight Riders when captaincy became a merry go round. A team needs a strong leader and Dhoni is one. The media wants sound-bytes and tend to misquote or exaggerate issues. They create controversies where none exist. They may think thats their job, but then don't expect the team to feed the grist for their rumour mills - especially just at the start of the world cup. It was obvious when Sehwag did not play the first two warm ups that he was not fit. May be the team management was waiting official confirmation to release the info to media. Instead of backing the team during the world cup this stupid media tries to create issues and disharmony, just to sell their piddly news. I am ashamed of the attitude of the media and feel Dhoni is justified in putting them in their place. Some media guys think they can cross any line with impunity.. they desrve what they got from Dhoni..

Cricket - captain is not all that important, If all individual players perform to their potential, that team will win , captain is there only to maintain the serial order ie 1,2,3...,damn silly job, silly game.silly people, all sillys put together

You cannot compare him to the earlier Dhoni bcos he was just a player then. He is the captain now and has to show leadership qualities. It is obvious that he has a huge task with a lot of pressure and he has more important things to do than handle media pressure over trivial issues.

SHAME ON THE MEDIA
by ravishwar joshi on Jun 10, 2009 11:48 AM  | Hide replies

trust the media to make mountains out of molehills, they are so news hungry that they will stoop to any level to sensationalise any small issue, tommorow they will also create such a hype about any body peeing against a tree or wall. The modern media is only about cheap publicity without any ethics and 99% of the reporters are are only rumour-mongers.Till date the media has not helped solve any public issues they have only sensationalised, the plight of somebody trying to commit murder/suicide/drowning/setting ablaze etc .the dirty media men have only stood aside and tried to get the best shot of the incident and gloat about the scoop /scam. SHAME ON THE MEDIA

Dhoni VS press
by Victor Mather on Jun 10, 2009 11:47 AM  | Hide replies

MSD has followed protocal. Any injury to any player disabling him from participating at the international level is to be exposed to the media through the BCCI only. MSD has no right to disclose the internal sitiation of a player to the media in accordance with the BCCI norms. He has followed this in the case of Sehwag. The media on the other hand has been far to probing into this issue and has to be blamed for MSD's reaction. In fact, the media has certainly disturbed him mentally by constant probing. I blame them only. Wherever there is media, there are problems. This is a fact that nobody can deny. If India looses, I will blame the media for having disturbed the captain mentally. The entire team will get effected as a result. After all, MSD is only human and has his limitations. He has gone to bring the cup back to India....is this not enough pressure? Why get after his life? He has only followed the rule book. Shame on the media.

Dhoni has all reasons to be annoyed...
by Rajeev Venkat on Jun 10, 2009 11:43 AM  | Hide replies

The Media in general, the Indian Media in particular thrives on sensationalism... I dont know why is Dhoni being hounded if Sehwag is injured. Fine, they could hae been more transparent, but why should they? These are tactical issues, the Media need not know everything & anything. Sehwag has a fear in the mind of the opponents. It suits India that opponents plan for him & sweat it out.

Why is the Media getting touchy & publishign all rubbish about a rift etc. Dhoni was right in showing Media their place. The Media cant think itself as God.

They should be not be overly concerned & unnecessarily read more than what is requred. There is a thin line between Pro-active Journalism & Sensational JOurnalism. The Indian Media may never learn that difference, though....

We all know they can't survive without promoting nudity, they can't survive without creating some 'gossipy' story, and to put the cherry on the plum, once you get paid you are forced to meet your commitments, but then for heaven's sake national cricket team is the nation's pride not the politicians' and you do have to take up your own responsibilities before pointing your finger to someone else, don't you?
