boycott was dropped after scoring a double century against India bcoz the selectors thought he was too slow and rightly so as it still is one of the slowest double hundreds.

Billgates told south indian are smartest people in world after chinese. Also north indians are most boorish- with lot of arrogance & no intelligence. 90% of top sportsman/scientist in India produced from south or Maharashtra only . All great worldclass sportsman like Anand(chess),Amritraj/krishnan/bhupati/sania(tennis),Padukone/gopichand/sania(Badminton),PT Usha(athletics),Gavaskar/tendulkar/dravid/laxman/kumble/chandrashekhar/venkat etc(cricket) are from south or maharashtra. North is famous for producing gutter like Brijraj sing, Aloo yaday, Mulayam, Maya & great dhobi etc. NI's Just showoff in every field with no talent.
eventhogh iam not a admirer of gavaskar...but i think gavaskar is the greatest batsman of all time if you exclude don....cause just imageine palying on green turf against the qualities of maarshal..holding...garner..andy...none of the batsmen present or past would have scored that many runs that gavaskar scored....

Come on. I like Dhoni too, but look at his test average, it is in the 20's.He is still a better 1 day player than Test player. Gavaskar was way superior to him
here some people, sometimes start senseless discussion like northi vs marathi, northi vs southi. comparision between dhoni n sachin. they dnt try to think tht -whtever they commenting abt does make any sense? hw cn v blame other country for racism if v dnt hv unity n v r divided among northi southi marathi etc. Also whenever some player do well or some1 is being praised , few ppl here started criticizing sachin and start doin worthless comparision. wht is the comparision between dhoni n sachin?? totally nonsense.

ponting being critisized only bcoz he always involved in controversies-on the field, off the field everywhre. even he is involved in cheating also. y u care so much abt ponting?? I also believe he is gr8 player bt he is bein critisized bcoz of all the controversies which always originates frm him.

Deewakr my mentality matches with u. I am also from bihar, settled in Maharashtra, working abroad but greatest fan of sachin purely becuase of his cricketing ability & the way he conducts himself as a person. Sometimes I am surprised why people give importance to person like Brijraj. His comments should be totally ignored & we should discuss only on subject topic i.e cricket. Let us come out of this regional phobia & think like a true Indian.
Instead of talking i think Boycott should go thru the records for himself. He just has to compare his records with West Indies and Gavaskar's records with the same Windies. This should clear his doubt. Boycott was a failure agt. the pace attack of Windies & Aussies. How come he rates above Sunny. Rubbish. Yes he can say I am above his favourite prince Kolkata Ganguly who was technically very very poor. Sunny was the best.No doubt in that. But Sunny contribution to India victorious is very less as compare to the great Vishy(Vishwanath). But Sunny was par excellence. His defence was even bigger then the Great wall of China.His leaving of bouncers was a treat to watch.

That era there was a famous joke on indian batting. Indian team is 2 & half batsman team means Gavaskar Vishwanath Balance team rated as 1/2 batsman. Gavaskar ability to play both quality fast bowling as well as spin was excellent. In his last test inning, he made 96 runs in 4th inning of play against pakistan at banglore when all other batsman failed. That was a classic example of his skill. Also he was a classical slip fielder. Once won man of the series award in rothmans cup only due to his catches.

just how many innings of Geoffrey's do u remember my friend ? Mr Boycott has played only for HIMSELF!! which is why he was dropped from the English side despite scoring a 150 ..!!! I am not saying Gavaskar played for his country more than for himself cause there were times when u felt he was too bothered about records..but saying Geoffrey Boycott played for his country and Gavaskar didnt is absolutely wrong..!!
