You are a great batsman , but certainly not as good as Gavaskar . One thing certainly I will always believe you are better commentator than Gavaskar when it comes to When Indians are palying . Gavaskar like Ravi Shastri is extremely biased as far as Mumbai players are concerned .Nothing against , it is a human folly , buit you are real great when you can over come this most common weakness.

so it shows that a single person was greater than the game. icc changes its rules as and when it wants to. dozens of new rules have been made since then. if that change in rule was shame, then the whole game of cricket must be a shame.

Yes, Cricket becomes Shame when player like Murali, Malinga and Fedel started playing International Cricket.
Srilankan team has the policy when there is a question raised against to their player bowling action, they use trump card of Racism.
Clearing the Doubt means - it should be like Bajji, even he was questioned by the Umpire, and he changed his action slightly and after that I have never ever heard that he is been reporting for suspected action.

Even Now when I look at Murali I will immediately say that he is a Chucker, though I have not played cricket at the highest level with the Experience in the Inter- College level Cricketer I am loudly say that he is a Chucker for 1000%.

Look - Murali got a pass because of a birth defect. What will they do if there is a fast bowler who can only really throw the ball because of a birth defect - change the rule again. Sorry to be blunt but if you have a birth defect than too bad - you dont get to bowl - as simple as that. May be he can play in the handicap cricket teams! I know a lot of you will think I am mean - but I am not - all sympathies to all the handicap people out there - but I wouldnt allow changing the rules of the game for one person! We are too naive - but it was not the "one man being greater than the game" - it was all politically and money driven. India was flexing their muscle when this happened and Sri Lanka was being "pally pally with India" for financial gains that would come their way. Also Murali was an important part for Sri Lanka to establish themselves as one of the top teams. Think about what they would be like without Murali. So it is all financial and politics - not Murali's greatness! Murali is not great - he got a blessing in disguise!

Gavaskar had scored 13 centuries including 3 double hundreds against mighty West Indies.
His batting average against West Indies was 65.45.
Gavasker exploits against West Indies can be compared only what Sir Don Bradman has done as batsman.
Gavaskar was best Batsman against fast bowling world has ever seen. He had scored runs against Marshall, Holding, Garner, Andy Roberts, Bob willis, Denis Lille, Thomson, Imran Khan, and Richard hadlee.

When WI was at its peak in 1983....and the bowlers to face were Marshall, Garner, Holding and Roberts Gavaskar flopped big time....it was Mohinder and Vengsarkar who did better....check out 1983 5-test series in West Indies...while Tendulkar did greatly against MCgrath and co at their peak in 1999(though the rest of the team flopped), Gavaskar did well when WI was just becoming a great team, after they became one, he did not do too well against them...also india's 1986 test series win in england which was the only highlight of indian test team apart from 1971 win in england and west indies(which was not a great team at that time), it was vengsarkar, chetan sharma, maninder singh and kiran more who contributed....apart from kapil of course.

It was Seventies...they were dominating force...In eighities they started loosing it....World has yet to produce anotehr opener who scored 774 runs in first series with 4 senturies against the sheer scary pace machines of the time then....Marshal was a so ordinary in the beginning later on after changing his tecnique he became better...And Mohinder..i have good respect for amarnath family..But still he was holding the record of comebacks till Vinod broke it..means those many times he was taken out of team isnt it..??? A teenager makes a debut (in '71) in West Indies and scores 774 runs in 4 tests, and faces them (and other world teams)in the coming years when the West Indies were at their BEST in world cricket, and scores centuries without a helmet!. Facing the fastet bowlers of that time in alien grounds, he spoke out for Indians against racism in world cricket in an era without 24 Hrs media coverage when foreign players were getting away with making abuses at Indians. He also stoodup and fought for players' rights and got them. That's Sunil Gavaskar for you.

Boycott --> While batting, he ran his friend out in an innings just because he did not get out and give him (Boycott) a chance to play in the 1st innings.

2 different 'techniques'.

Mohinder was a great player. His problem was that he was an Amarnath. His father caused a lot of trouble to a lot of people. These people became selectors when Mohinder was playing. They could not do anything to the father; so they took their revenge on the son, otherwise Mohinder would have played more for India.

Forgot Mohinder's performance in 1983 WC final???? Sunny would have to take saath janams to do the same....in the 1983 series in WI, the WI quartet of Marshall, Garner, Holding and Roberts were at their most menacing best and Mohinder succeeded there because he could handle the barrage of bouncers well as he dispatched them thru hooks to the boundary...Gavaskar could not face the short ball well in that series....Vengsarkar though not a great player of short ball played his heart out...thats why he is called Colonel...in the return series vs WI in India, Mohinder had a very bad patch and his short ball approach had been sorted out by the WI fast bowlers so he flopped in the series while Gavaskar conveniently made use of the placid Indian wickets where fast bowlers were reduced to medium pacers (even if they were from West Indies) and made 236 not out (that too in 2nd innings of a dead match as usual)...Mohinder was given very raw deal by the selectors thats why he termed them jokers...which is so true to this day....if he had got the long run like Gavasakar he too could have achieved greater heights...talking of regionalism yes Kapil was no saint as he promoted lot of North Indians like Gopal Sharma, Chetan Sharma, Rajinder Singh Goel etc into the team but he was at least not a disgusting politician like Gavaskar who played politics against all captains he played under like Bedi, Venkat etc....and when Kapil became icon after 1983 world cup Gavaskar couldn't take it any more

He was the same guy who asked the team to walk out of a match when he was given out LBW in Aus...contrast this to Sachin who has got countless decisions against him in Aus but never even winced his eyebrow one bit...that is difference in class of a person....Sachin had ample space to get all his MUmbai mates into the team but he in fact was the one who dropped a dreadfullyout of form Kambli who was incidentally his best friend...he never promoted regionalism neither did Azhar....of course they are part of newer generation that beleived in concept of India but the whole point is that of Gavasakar's disgusting machinations against quiet a few of his contemporaries be it Bedi, VEnkat, Kapil, Chandra etc.

Gavaskar was the only player in history if Indian cricket who retired with grace-
1)Left captaincy after winning besen & hedges W cup 1985 in Australia (where all top 7 nations participated- this win was much more imp than last yr T20 wcup triumph)
2)Retired from test cricket- After playing classical knock of 96 runs on turning wicket at Banglore when all other players failed.
3)Retired from first class cricket after scoring 185 runs at lords against world eleven.
4)Retired from One day cricket after reliance cup 1987- he scored hundred against NZL in his 2nd last inning of one day career. Though I agree he was not an ODI player.
Become man of the series in rothmans cup 1985 which indian won just because of classic catches at slip.
First player who brought some glory to Indian cricket at international level.First smart player who started writing good article in newspaper & become comentator. He is the grace of indian cricket. Even great kapil & player like dada were just dragging in team in last phase of their career as form was not with them.
gavaskar also scored fastest indian hundred in tests in 94 balls against like of marshal, Holding etc.
Mr gump u keep ur mouth shut & not keep reapeting wrong stats to mislead people. Anyone who understand cricket will not listen to U. If u talk of politics only player comees in mind are dada & dhobi.

CM u don't know a thing...if someone is giving u gyan take it....West Indies were at their best in the period between 1978 to 1985....this was like Aus's peak period between 1999 and 2007...they had the best 4 fast bowlers in that time...destroyed every other team they faced home and away during this time...check out their scorecards during this period...their only one glitch was losing 1983 final to India....in early and mid 70s they had some good fast bowlers but not 4 menacing ones coming at u at all the times like in the late 70s and early to mid 80s...their downslide started with Lloyd's resignation as captain and Richards' induction as captain towards the late 80s...also holding and roberts had retired and marshall had declined during this time....and ambrose and walsh had just come into the side...west indies were a decent test side till the late 90s...only after walsh and abrose resigned did they really decline in tests...i agree in onedayers their decline had started from 1987 onwards....
