IF Chanderpaul & Sarwan could play for Windies, If Kamran and Younis can play for Pakistan, if Ponting and Hussay can play for Aussies, If Kallis and Smith can play for SA, why Dravid, Sachin, Laxman shd not be included for 20-20 or ODIs? Shrikkant should answer this.

All these guys are over the hill. India should build a new young team. Ofcourse, there will be defeats initially, which must prevail as lesson to our players.

Reason for India's Poor Performance
by george dgama on Jul 03, 2009 10:41 AM

I would not blame IPL or World Cup T20 20 . Blame the players and the management.. The Greed of the Players to earn extra dollars and making film adds and attending television events are the main cause. I think the players are not playing for the country but for the Money.. Greed is what has made the players under perform. Wake up Team India before it is too late

Reason for Indian Team Failure
by LG on Jul 03, 2009 10:35 AM

It is neither IPL nor the amount of cricket.
As for me these are the following reasons:

(1) Indian team with out Sachin and Shewag in ODI and Sachin, Sehwag and Laxman is nothing but full of ordinary players.

(2)Other teams--which were weak--have started playing better and have quality bowling attack.

It was foolish to even think that Indian has become #1 in the world just because they have defeated weakest NZ team and depleted AUS on flat Indian pitches.

Gavaskar

He switched over from Star to Sony to make more bucks. He naturally has to defend IPL which gave him his bread and butter. No one should doubt that IPL killed cricket talent in this Country. It gave an impression that players like Jadeja and Yusuf Pathan deserve interenational exposure thus fooled all of us including BCCI! Gavaskar might have been paid for giving this statement by Modi.

you can,t shower aspersion on the integrity of Gavasker. He was the fellow who refused carry packer long time ago.IPL was not the reason of Failure of indian team becuase all the players from all the teams were part of IPL than why India fails,The reason of Indain failure was 1)Absence of Virender Sehwag & Zahher khan 2)So stable batting order.

I agree IPL was not the reason, but Zaheer / Sehwag were total failures in the recent IPL also. Sehwag's inclusion would have made no difference, while Zaheer was expensive and no wicket taker.

I would agree with Bedi's observation that the team was tired playing for almost an year, while the Pakis were fully fit and fresh and had the hunger to peak at the reight time and give their best. All these neccessary ingredients were severly missing from the Indians and the WC was yet another match for their tired bodies and minds.
