Gavaskar Talking BCCI
by aditya kilambi on Jul 03, 2009 11:42 AM  | Hide replies

I do not agree with your opinion as there was no rest for any of the players, they had completed the tour of New Zealand and then the IPL, Instead of the IPL our players could had a one month break and they could be fresh in the ICC 20 world cup,
BCCI wanted money and so they conducted the IPL.Our early exit was only due to lack of rest of our players.

Regards
Cricket fan

bull shit. you have been given a job to do, just your duty is to play to the core. if our players are playing 16 hours a day cricket, then we can definitely ask every1 to take rest. Else i feel it is the players' responsibility how to mould themselves acc to conditions. Afterall these players are playing for a max of 10 years with breaks, etc., unlike Sanat and Tendu. Hope they will stiffen themselves and play for the country.

It is not that these players do not have brakes but the problem is that instead of taking rest they do shootings for ads which take out much more energy than playing a cricket.

I thought Rohit was a sensible cricketer but his comment during the T20 world cup after he got out playing a bad shot changed my opinion. He said---that is the way I play. And that very moment realized he is going become another Dhobi--a hyped cricketer--although Rohit has better skills.

Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort zones
by abhisek bhaduri on Jul 03, 2009 11:29 AM  | Hide replies

Its not IPL that is to blame. There were other international players in the IPL who performed well in the T-20 Wc. Its just that the Indian batsmen could not overcome their shortcomings and deliver when stretched out of their comfort zones. Obver the years it has been the same story, most of the Indian batsmen play well only under certain conditions on some pitches.

Players like Raina and Rohit Sharma are way over-rated. All their exploits are on subcontinent pitches , facing friendly medium pace and average quality spin. It would do a world of good for the team if they focus on improving on the shortcomings and not providing excuses.

I think who ever scored should be brought to T20WC irrespective of their age. then we would have won with the help of BAT-BALL performers

How many series have they won outside India? Moreover then they had players like SRT, Sehwag, Kumble, Dravid--all of them are skillful.

Have ever seen Dobhi's batting--it so ugly.

UV and Dinesh Kartik have skills but lack temperament.

Please note that we are discussing here for ODI cricket. Test Cricket we will discuss later. In ODIs there have been no Dravid n Kumble since 2007. And afterall, if they were so skillful why did thek take so many years to win CB series in Aus. And FYI, it was purely due to perfromance of not only SRT but gambhir, Rohit, dhoni, RP.....all youngsters!

So called King,

No wonder, you are also very poor at logic. What is your logic behind not winning Asian Cup and T20 world cup?

You must understand that batsmen can only facilitate win but bowlers play major role in any win.

There have been numerous occasions where SRT brought India closer to win but bowlers of that time could not takes wickets to force wins.

But I do agree with you, mr. king, that only one person--even if it is SRT--can not win matches alone. It is always due to small contributions from other players also.

It seems that you are good for selling electronics only as ur name suggests. My point is that we are winning due to the performance of youngsetrs also and not only SRT. You urself have mentioned that our bowlers were not able to forc win earlier. But now you see the young generation. Sreesanth, RP, Pargyan , Amit Mishra....u go on counting them.

Bilateral series
by LG on Jul 03, 2009 11:25 AM  | Hide replies

The results of Bilateral series against teams like WI, NZ, Srilanka and BD do not show true strength of India team and are not significant.

After watching matches against these countries for the past 1-2 years, I have this feeling that BCCI might be involved in fixing the results of bilateral series with countries like NZ, Srilanka, BD etc whose board have no money to survive.
