I do not agree with your opinion as there was no rest for any of the players, they had completed the tour of New Zealand and then the IPL, Instead of the IPL our players could had a one month break and they could be fresh in the ICC 20 world cup, BCCI wanted money and so they conducted the IPL.Our early exit was only due to lack of rest of our players.
Re: Gavaskar Talking BCCI
by Devalraju Ramaiah on Jul 03, 2009 12:03 PM
bull shit. you have been given a job to do, just your duty is to play to the core. if our players are playing 16 hours a day cricket, then we can definitely ask every1 to take rest. Else i feel it is the players' responsibility how to mould themselves acc to conditions. Afterall these players are playing for a max of 10 years with breaks, etc., unlike Sanat and Tendu. Hope they will stiffen themselves and play for the country.

It is not that these players do not have brakes but the problem is that instead of taking rest they do shootings for ads which take out much more energy than playing a cricket.

I don't know why Rohit is not understanding his role. Gambhir is enough mature but currently out of form.
Re: Re: @Anurag Rathore
by LG on Jul 03, 2009 11:51 AM
I thought Rohit was a sensible cricketer but his comment during the T20 world cup after he got out playing a bad shot changed my opinion. He said---that is the way I play. And that very moment realized he is going become another Dhobi--a hyped cricketer--although Rohit has better skills.

I suppose they will drop Rohit for next match. In big hitters aprt from Dhoni n Yuvi, we have Abhishek Nayar (in place of Jadeja).
Its not IPL that is to blame. There were other international players in the IPL who performed well in the T-20 Wc. Its just that the Indian batsmen could not overcome their shortcomings and deliver when stretched out of their comfort zones. Obver the years it has been the same story, most of the Indian batsmen play well only under certain conditions on some pitches.
Players like Raina and Rohit Sharma are way over-rated. All their exploits are on subcontinent pitches , facing friendly medium pace and average quality spin. It would do a world of good for the team if they focus on improving on the shortcomings and not providing excuses.
Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort zones
by Devalraju Ramaiah on Jul 03, 2009 12:05 PM
I think who ever scored should be brought to T20WC irrespective of their age. then we would have won with the help of BAT-BALL performers
Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort zones
by LG on Jul 03, 2009 11:33 AM
I agrees with you. But not just Raina and Rohit all the players in Indian team that is playing against WI are the players with no skills but big mouth.
Re: Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort zones
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:34 AM
u mean to say that without skill they have won so many series in last 2 yrs.
Re: Re: Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort zones
by LG on Jul 03, 2009 11:42 AM
How many series have they won outside India? Moreover then they had players like SRT, Sehwag, Kumble, Dravid--all of them are skillful.
Have ever seen Dobhi's batting--it so ugly.
UV and Dinesh Kartik have skills but lack temperament.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort z
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 03, 2009 11:55 AM
We need result not attractive batting. Dhoni is batting brilliantly.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their comfort z
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:48 AM
Please note that we are discussing here for ODI cricket. Test Cricket we will discuss later. In ODIs there have been no Dravid n Kumble since 2007. And afterall, if they were so skillful why did thek take so many years to win CB series in Aus. And FYI, it was purely due to perfromance of not only SRT but gambhir, Rohit, dhoni, RP.....all youngsters!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their c
by LG on Jul 03, 2009 12:08 PM
But I do agree with you, mr. king, that only one person--even if it is SRT--can not win matches alone. It is always due to small contributions from other players also.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Indian team shouldperform outside their c
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 12:16 PM
It seems that you are good for selling electronics only as ur name suggests. My point is that we are winning due to the performance of youngsetrs also and not only SRT. You urself have mentioned that our bowlers were not able to forc win earlier. But now you see the young generation. Sreesanth, RP, Pargyan , Amit Mishra....u go on counting them.
The results of Bilateral series against teams like WI, NZ, Srilanka and BD do not show true strength of India team and are not significant.
After watching matches against these countries for the past 1-2 years, I have this feeling that BCCI might be involved in fixing the results of bilateral series with countries like NZ, Srilanka, BD etc whose board have no money to survive.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Bilateral series
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:40 AM
coomon for other teams you have excuses but when our Team captain say something you call it as 'Execuse!
Re: Re: Re: Team India
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:23 AM
what is making u to think like this? Just don't go by last performance. We have seen many times WI side falling under pressure.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Team India
by keshav kulkarni on Jul 03, 2009 11:28 AM
i am not just going by last performance... our current form is not do good... and look at our record in the Windies... last time we played here we went crashing out of the world cup in league stage, and before that we got crushed by the Windies in the ODI series if u remember
Re: Re: Team India
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:21 AM
I think we have fair good team to beat this WI side (without Edwards) by 3-1. If all the newcomers playe well then there is no reason why we can't do it. Hope for the best. In addition to this, Bhajji has to bowl well.
Re: Re: Re: Team India
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 03, 2009 11:25 AM
India need a good start. Either they should go with specialist opener M.Vijay or Dhoni should come up the order.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Team India
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:29 AM
Yes. But Dhoni needs to play his natural game now. There is no point in just hanging there they also need to up the scoring rate. What do you think?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Team India
by Anurag Rathore on Jul 03, 2009 11:33 AM
It's risky. If Dhoni gets out early there will be more pressure on Yuvraj. We have only three mature batsman Gambhir, Yuvi and Dhoni. Either of two must click in each match.
Re: India will win today.........
by keshav kulkarni on Jul 03, 2009 10:52 AM
i dont agree with your comment of calling WI "mediocre"........ we may win today but as u will also agree that looking at the first 2 matches, we just won the 1st match whereas we were crushed in the 2nd... going by the forms, we will need an upset if we were to win 3-1.... my prediction is 2-2
Re: Re: India will win today.........
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Jul 03, 2009 10:54 AM
St Lucia is a slow turning track and that will suit Bhajji and Ravi Jadeja..... WI only have suleiman Benn and he is pretty average!!
So, going by that logic, i''am saying that India should beat WI twice in St Lucia.....
Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by keshav kulkarni on Jul 03, 2009 10:58 AM
Jadeja is sureshot dropout for this match.... abhishek nayar will replace him...
also, Bravo is a handful on slower tracks... an absolute asset
Re: Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Jul 03, 2009 11:02 AM
I don't think Jadeja can be dropped on only one failure....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by The King on Jul 03, 2009 11:18 AM
Jadeja should be dropped and its not only one failure. He already failed twice in this series and in T20 cup performance also was disappointing.
Re: Re: India will win today.........
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Jul 03, 2009 10:56 AM
St Lucia is a turning track and India have better spinners hence the prediction of a 3-1 win.....both matches are in St Lucia!!
Re: Re: India will win today.........
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Jul 03, 2009 10:58 AM
This series is no challenge for India...i'am looking forward to the 7 match ODI series against Aussies in October.....that will be a thriller!!
Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by keshav kulkarni on Jul 03, 2009 10:59 AM
agree.. that would definitely be a fair contest... 2 mediocre teams fighting it out
Re: Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Jul 03, 2009 11:01 AM
Among the teams that we have in world cricket, India and Australia are still above a particular standard...the standard of world cricket has fallen drastically in the last 5 years....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by keshav kulkarni on Jul 03, 2009 11:06 AM
i think teams like Australia and India have not been at their best and teams like South Africa and Sri Lanka have certainly lifted themselves to be with Australia and India or even bettered them....
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: India will win today.........
by Bhasmasur Rakshas on Jul 03, 2009 11:10 AM
South Africa are the biggest chokers, they are really a shame!!
You saw how they choked against Pak in semifinals recently?? They will never win any major title cos they are chokers!!
