Gary Kirsten has made a huge difference in creating a positive atmosphere in the dressing room. As a coach, he allows the players’ natural instincts to take over. Dhoni too is doing a fantastic job as captain, and I’m not surprised.

sachin is god
by Suman Barthakur on Feb 19, 2009 10:12 PM

If cricket is a religion in India, then Sachin Tendulkar is God. The Master Blaster might laugh that statement off, but then he is known to be Sachin Tendulkar
unassuming and down-to-earth

Humble Sachin
by pallu banjo on Feb 19, 2009 09:40 PM

His greatness is in his humility and humbleness. Unlike others who bask in the glory and try to throw their tantrums and their weight around. Not Sachin. It is this virtue that God judges a human being and makes a person greater than he thinks himself to be.

May be ad income loss
by Kamal on Feb 19, 2009 09:35 PM

As Tendulkar is not shining now a days as he was doing earlier, he loses lots of advertisement income. This may make him uncomfortable. These ad agencies are approaching Dhoni, Yuvraj and other promising youngsters. After all how long one can shine? Aging is a natural factor.

The great or the Average
by Aryan on Feb 19, 2009 09:23 PM  | Hide replies

Sachin has benefited and become superstar due to lack of great talent among his contemporaries . His sucess can be attributed more to like andhon mein kaana raja . Among the new young gen-X dhoni and yuvraj , sachin appears more of an average player .

But inspite of all adulation and fame he is definitely a humble man and has avoided being associated with any right wing political outfits .

Yes, a super star, a prodigy. But every field
produces greats, but such a gentleman genius would be a rarity for all times to come. Apart
from his sporting abilities, all greats would do a great favour to themselves if they emulate his behaviour.

Thick skin and arrogant in disguise
by km vb on Feb 19, 2009 09:07 PM  | Hide replies

It seems Sachin has got very thick skin and arrogant attitude in disguise. He never show up in public but with his highest individul score and centuries in ODI and TEST,he is dictating terms to selectors and BCCI for his place in team.He dictates for
1) Playing him for opening even though we have youngsters who are capable to withstand and also can bowl to support captain for better option
2) To become sick any time and also can declare fit any time whenever he wanted to play.
3) To play as long as he wanted
4) To drop prospering youngster as like virat who got a chance and played well but had to sit beccause of sachin's adamant nature.
5) Capable younster who play well in Opening slot or in 2nd down in Test had to wait for their turn , may be they loose their place in due course of time tilll Sachin play cricket at this veteran age.
Sachin overrates himself as some thing he did some great thing for INDIA but in reality his contribution for flying INDIAN FLAG in winning any major cup is absolutely very less and to say zero.

That is what every INDIA aware of Sachin. He scored highest runs but his contributions could not win any major cup for INDIA.
Whereas Kapil Dev brought INDIA from 17 for 5 against Zimbabwe in World cup to win this match by scoring 175 not out and also win 1st major cup for INDIA.
This is what we INDIANS wanted from each INDIAN who play for INDIA and win major cups and make INDIAN FLAG Flying.

DO NOT FORGET amarnath's splendid bowling in the finals in 1983 and srikkanth's blitzkrieg of 36 runs.so,world cup is won with team effort and why blame sachin for that.why the indian bowlers bowled badly in 2003 world cup final.can anybody tell me how many times 360 runs are chased in a one day international.I think only by south africa and that too in their own den.

and everybody knows that india won the 1983 world cup by fluke because the west indies were very complacent in their approach chasing a target of 183 runs in 60 overs.

By fluke or by merit, Kapil won 1st major cup for INDIA, whereas sachin display INDIAN FLAG on his helmet but never contributed for any major cup for INDIA and made INDIAN FLAG flying with his contributions.
In test we remember Rahul Dravid and Laxman contribution that won a test match for India in INDIA and every Indian remember their contribution.
We Indian need such contribution but not individual scores that makes individual very high.

Sachin is avoiding to accommodate Virat due to compelling his place in ODI to play till 2011 world cup.If virat is given a chance,he would have become a well set as he has the resemblance of sehwag batting style.

Could any body tell me if india loses when Sachin is there is it because sachin did not perform(ie wasted lot of balls) despite others good performance or sachin did perform and others did n't.
May be all those whom say Sachin did n't bring cups could answer if they really want to.
And how deep (final or whatever) they went in major cup because of whom or came out from first round because of whom. Probably this question may answer something else other than sachin also.
Please share what you think
