TENDULKAR, FOR THE LAST TIME!
by Ashok Gobindram Lulla on Nov 04, 2008 04:49 PM

In an association that goes back to 1999 at Kotla
Sachin Tendulkar in this match (too) walked up to Anil Kumble, took his cap and handed over to the umpire. In 1999, Sachin had taken the cap from Kumble, to bring him luck, and told him, "you will get a wicket in this over". Sure enough Kumble did, and went on to claim a 10-wicket haul in an innings!. And since, then,
every time the Indians played at Kotla, Sachin
always made it a point to take the cap from Anil Kumble and hand it over to the umpire.
And in this match, after having announced his retirement, Kumble, as he handed over his cap, told Sachin, "And this is the last time". No, Kumble did not get any wicket this time around.

The thing is that Sachin somehow gets involved in so many positive ways with his team mates, it's no wonder that he remains a role model as
a sportsman, and as a human being, whose conduct and example should be emulated.

India Shining
immeasurable dignity that this blue-blood among cricketers wore like an ermine cloak
by India Shining on Nov 04, 2008 09:56 AM  | Hide replies

You should have been writing a victorian novel instead of a cricketer's tribute. A simple, sincere "thank you" and "wishing him well" would have been more effective than this verbal diarrhea of an article.

What do you mean by stickiest player?
Player are there to stick and play. It is neither a public bus nor a local train that people come and go. It is a cricket team.
Saurav and Anil stayed there by dint of hard labour and calibre and not by your piles infected moth eaten forefathers' grace you idiot!

Rediff Standards
by Indranil Sengupta on Nov 04, 2008 06:47 AM  | Hide replies

Are the standards of rediff falling?
The starting of the headline "Adios' is not in any English dictionary.
Adieu yes, audio yes but Adios-no.
Will rediff editor answer or allow us to tolerate this type of onslaught on our grammar, senses and logic etc?

I know that. It means something like go to God.
So use all words in Spanish here or Zulu or Swahili or Bangla or Bhojpuri, we won't mind.
Don't make a khichri.
However, the use of adjective against me shows that you are an arrogant idiot and Ramsagol (it is a Bengali word and find the meaning)!

Even almighty BCCI could not keep Captaincy away from him and strangely for the board,it had to entrust it to Jumbo.
But by any standards Jumbo deserved it.

Person like Anil can never be domiciled in Karnataka but World.
