Thanks Anil
by Sandeep Sodhi on Nov 03, 2008 09:34 PM

Folks lets take this time and thank Anil for a stupendous last 2 decades of cricket that he has given us.

My fondest memories are of Anil decimating the WI in the Hero Cup final with 6 wickets.

Best of Luck Anil in all your future endeavors.

it is time that Indian Legends learn from the mess that Kumble made of his exit and realise that everyone has a shelf life and bow it before being forced out by others or embarassing oneself.

We don't see any mess. You have to clarify where you see the mess.

Tendu, Lax, Gangs, Dravid are still the best we have. I dare you to put up a name to replace them. If you can show me one cricketer that has shown consistancy in domestic cricket and play for more than 20 overs (not even 50 overs), ready to play test matches that would be great.

Otherwise, you better go around watching 20-20 and not mess with test crciket.

Raina, Sharma, or Badri can ably replace Ganguly. He is retiring after this series.

By miles they will not be ably replace Sourav at its best. Only Gambhir can in the batting point of view. Sourav not only contributed with his bat at times with ball and more importantly his spirit which he inculcated in the team at the dire state. Equaly no one right now can replace Kumble as a brilliant match winner and fighter. We all salute him.

Harish Giri
Anil Kumble, the warrior
by Harish Giri on Nov 03, 2008 09:17 PM

I fully agree with the remarks of Mr. Bishan Singh Bedi that the writing was on wall for Kumble. But to my my mind he still has retired gracefully.

Neverthless we must salute him not for one reason - for having taken record 619 wickets. But there are other reasons too like his long non controversial career, his passion, his commitment, despite his limited abilities, which we have seen on many occasions like the one with broken jaw in West Indies and recently in India with stitched fingers, his never say die attitude.
Though he did have 2-3 bad series but with Kumble one always knew that he would not like to remain as a burden on team.
I salute you for the commitment and service done done to India. Players like deserve the love, respect, adulation and reception which was given at Kotla. Wish you best of luck in future.

Why not make S.Ganguly captain for the Nagpur Test?
Will it not be a good gesture and honour?
Kumble's retirement gave a good opportunity
