Ponting receiving trophy in 2006
by kanthi kiran on Jan 13, 2008 04:36 PM  | Hide replies

Juntaa dont forget the way Ponting behaved while receiving trophy in India in 2006. Sharad Pawar gave trophy to Ponting in that series.

What more people have to say about arrogant Aussies. What charges made against him? Is it not breeching ICC code of conduct?

Yes. It is the same boorish behaviour. You cant expect much more from him. If you suspend him, he'll not understand.

To him, his side has a righ to win and they dont need to earn a win anymore. The only fun is, when these guys trip and fall on their face to someone - with strong umpires that wont budge.

Indian team selection
by Rajan on Jan 13, 2008 03:19 AM

1. India should start treating Pathan as a batsman who can bowl. He has consistently proved that he is a better batsman. He should replace Yuvraj, who has been totally out of sorts. We can allow Yuvraj to continue with these failures, as we depend upon him in one dayers. We cannot let the confidence of Yuvraj fade away because of the failures in the test matches. Irfan can take third seamer position and Harbhajan should be rested, because Perth pitch doesn't offer any assistance to Spinners. Kumble can become a medium pacer overnight, as we have seen against Pakistan, but not Harbhajan. Also Harbhajan may be distracted after all the recent controversies. He needs time off. But we need to support Harbhajan in the battle of anti-racism claims.

2. Sehwag will replace Harbhajan. Of course they have different skillsets. Sehwag will open and help Dravid come at one down. Sehwag can also be a good bowler and can become handy on 5th days play, if the pitch offers any assistance to spinners. He can never be compared to Harbhajan's greatness.

3. Jaffer should be rested. Jaffer has become Lee's bunny. Karthick should replace him. Karthick is good on the foreign pitches as we have seen him against South Africa, Englans and West Indies. So performance in India should not be counted. Karthick fights in the field as well. It will help other Indian filedsmen as well, when Australia plays the mind games against the Indians. You see someone in the filed with lot of energy and that will

Oz's fault - keep reading
by Doogie Hauser on Jan 13, 2008 01:45 AM  | Hide replies

Thank you to the SMH for this, but heres a summary of the excellent behaviour of Indian players in recent times.

43 charges since 1997 including ball tampering, intimidating umpires, abusing players, time wasting and dissent.
Of the current party, five have been fined or suspended - Ganguly, Dravid, Booji, Sehway and Tendulkar.
Ganguly - 12 charges. Booji - 5 charges (Sreesanth even though hes not touring gets a special mention - 4 charges in 9 mnths.)
Australian side in the same period - 25 charges.
Mainly McGrath (6), Ponting (4), Gilchrist (4) and Lee (3). Mainly verballing and conduct charges.

So statistically, since 1999, India have behaved TWICE as badly as Oz. Guess we can't let the truth get in the way of a good story....

Let me give you a tip fellas, you get your house in order, we'll worry about ours...

The question here is, Did Gilly, Clarke and Ponting sell their souls to cheatmaster in the sydney match - in their desire to get win #16?

If Doggie's attempt to equate indians cheated too, in the past, is any measure, they all did. Shame on these Aussie cricketers, who I used to enjoy watching & held as champions. Not any more. Doggie - you realize your captain & his team's actions have lost a number of international supporters like me.

Peter Roebuck tried to put some sense into you guys. But, it seems pig headedness rules, now! Sad indeed. What does your teasm think? They are playing in their home backyard? This is international cricket watched by millions & commented by respected cricketers. You dont think any of us have a sense of what wa going on?

What kind of charges, Yuvi was charged for staring at umpire (no bad words spoken). Though Indians want Yuvi to be gone. Indians are pretty mild though Sresanth and Habhajan have taken tips from Ozzie to behave like them i.e "Wild dogs" to "wild dogs" as per Roebock. I would say they should ask ICC to supply chains to tie the "wild dogs" instead.

I have no idea what kind of charges, but if your going to go into details then I'd suggest theres an aussie charge or two that is a bit ridiculous. Evens things up anyways. Point is, India are no angels on a cricket field either (just like the Aussies, except the Aussies are perhaps sneakier at it).

So what your saying is that the Aussies, Sreesanth and Booji should be tied like 'wild dogs'. I wouldn't quote Peter Roebuck if I were you. His latest article suggests that Simon Katich should be Aussie Capt. He's the biggest goose in Aussie cricket journalism.

If what you are saying is true and by what we have see how Aussies behave, I'd come to the conclusion that ICC and its bunch of incompetent umpires are the biggest racists of all!! How else can you justify the relentless sledging by aussies being ignored all the while?

Doogie, As we have seen in the Sydney test, when you have pocketed the whole judicial system including referees and umpires, you can show any statistics. Did your judicial system raise any charges on your Clarke, Ponting, Hogg or Symonds for their excellent behaviour. Nay! And easily we will forget these incidents in the next year or two, but your statistics will tell a different story.

Doogie, firstly, excellent post. It provides a touch of perspective in a rather hysterical debate. Roebuck is currently taking on water as he tries to back away from the embarrassing 'Ponting must go' effort last week. I doubt that he will be given much credence as the tour moves into it's final throes.
DS, you can't condemn Clarke for not immediately walking when given out and then defend Yuvi for doing exactly the same thing. The number of charges that Sreesanth has accumulated tends to show that, indeed, the chains are being applied to guilty parties, as with Harbhajan now- though the appeal process may provide more twists and turns there.
And Rajan, really. I'm interested to see any evidence you have that Australia (I presume that's who you mean by 'you') have 'pocketed the entire judicial system'. The umpiring was shoddy, it may have even affected the result- but that's sport, son. You can't throw out the decisions you don't like and keep the ones you do. As far as I can see, there's one team trying to get on with the game and one team threatening to go home unless their demands are met. I know which one is attempting to re-write the rulebook, do you?

Mike and Doogie to each other: you scratch my back i'll scratch yours. And what perspective does it put? Zilch, I say. Because it still does not delineate the offenses under which the Indians were booked. Does ganguly been booked for slow over-rate compare to a ban handed to someone for mouthing off or being a cheat? Even Sreesanth was never booked for being abusive during a match- for over-reacting, over appealing, yes. But never for cheating or calling names.

It wasn't SMH, it was Sunday Telegraph. I doubt SMH would ever publish such lopsided and misleading report. Misleading because it does not spell out the charges, but merely gives the numbers.

history of bodyline
by pranav andharia on Jan 12, 2008 01:27 PM  | Hide replies

who knows ? possibly the same attitude would have been there in 1920's and 30's. but we sympthaise the aussies of that times by critising douglas jardin the english captain.

but it is possible that the bodyline technique would have been adopted in response to the nasty and undecent behavour of australians and why not the 3/4th of world was under englands control, so with an igo the retaliated may be wrong but they may not have started first. and Cunning aussies who could have manuplated the media system created the history which we considered to be the real story.

so with only famous person Don bradman to whome we call the biggest masterblaster ever he was just a extremly good player and we dont know personally what type of person he was. and what about the rest of the other 10 players.
where as Douglas jardin was never known for his game but only attitude and his team even opposed him during the match for this attitude including the nawab of patodi (Mansoorali knans father). so this type of english attitude we never see in aussies.
Further on thing regarding the racist remarks ...
there were no complaints from English side when Philip Defratas, Chris Lewis, GladStone Small, Alex Tudor etc., were on the field from English Side.

So from the history of bodyline one can judge many things about australians, why bodyline was only against australia and not against south africa and why it is considered as a epic of cricket just only because australia lost one test serien

CRICKET HAS BECOME THE GAME OF MONEY
by pranav andharia on Jan 12, 2008 01:11 PM

IF AUSTRALIA SPENT IN INNOATIVE IDEAS TO PROMOTE CRICKET WORLDWIDE THEN CRICKET CAN ALSO BECOME POPULAR AS FOOTBALL TENNIS ETC. SINCE LAST 2 WORLD CUPS WE HAD SEEN UPS AND DOWN E.G KENYA REACHING SEMIS WITH THE THIRD POSITION AND IN WORLD CUP 2007 IRELAND AND BANGLADESH MADE THEIR TO WAY TO SUPER 8 AND FURTHER BANGLADESH DEFEATED S-AFRICA.
BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY ARE SPENDING ON JUST WINNING AND DEMORALISING THE NON WHITES. IN FACT THEY ARE HIGHLY RACIST. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW SYMONDS IS BLACK..... FROM NO WHERE HE SEEMS LIKE KENYAN OR WESTINDIAN HE MAY BE A MIX BLOOD I.G FROM PARENTS ONE MUST BE WHITE AND ANOTHER BLACK SO ON ONE SIDE WE CAN EVEN CALL HIM WHITE.
FURTHER MONKEY CANNOT BE TREATED AS RACIST REMARKS , WE OFTEN COMPARE PLAYERS WITH SOME ANIMALS LIKE BULL FOR HEFTY PERSON, STEFEN FLEMING WAS KNOWN AS CUNNING FOX AND WE CALL ENTIRE AUSSIE TEAM AS KANGAROOS.

HENCE IT CAN BE CONCLUDE AUSSIES ARE SPENING MONEY ON WINNING AND MANUPLATING THE ICC RULE BOOK AND SUPERIOR ICC COMMITEE. ITS NOT AUSSIE ALONE OR UMPIRE OR RAFREE ITS AN PLOT OF ICC.
B CAUSE CONFIDENT APPEAL FOR OUT FOLLOWED BY FALSE DECISION OF OUT AND FURTHER NO ACTION ON THE DECISION OF UMPIRE BY MATCH RAFREE BEFORE THE INDIANS APPEAL IS A ENOUGH PROOF.

FURTHER ADDING I WILL SAY THE LAST THREE WORLCUP CHAMPS HAS DEGRADED THEMSELF AND THEIR PREVIOUS ACHIVEMENTS AND ONE CAN SAY THEY BETTER WORLD CHEATS THAN WORLD CHAMPS.

Dravid and Kumble are gentlemen. This cannot be said about some other seniors in the team. Some have been given strictures by ICC earlier and debarred from playing for certain faults. Inzamman is another player of gentle nature. He got punishment for genuine treasons and his advisors were not good in management.. Even in the last Test match only Dravid was visibly not out

They are timid & 'darpokes' like average southindians! Look at Ganguly and learn. He went the Aussie way and was successful, he even got Dravid and others to play without any pressure and himself took all the pressure of public, media, opponents, international press - infact he sacrificed his own cricketing carrer to serve the 'TEAM' - that is something you need to adore not timidness at the highest level!

Similarities b/n Ganguly & Australians. *Ganguly wanted to retain capitanship by hook or crook and did all stunts to prove that he is aggressive & team is winning bcos of that winning just one finals out of 11. Similaryly Aussies try to win at any cost by hook or crook & speak how they use their agression for that. * Ganguly thinks capitaship is his property & Aussies think championship is their propert & get offended when someone challenges.

Are you mentally retarded or a total dumbo? 11 finals mind it 11 finals, that shows consistancy of the Team under Ganguly, captaianship is definitely his property with his calibre compared to others - even today I say India need captain like Gangulys not Dravids or Kumbles, but for understanding my point - first you have to come out of your biased backward and a typical regionalist mindset! Can you do that?

Ganguly did not sacrifice anything for team.He enjoyed capitance enough.Greedy fellow. He has always played -ve cricket under other capitans just like now. He cant tolerate if somebody other is capitan. Intolerant fellow. On the other hand it was Dravid who gave up capitancy & choose to be ordinary team member. He is always a team man who puts team interest ahead unlike your favourite Ganguly.

Ganguly is playing - ve cricket now?????? Can you exactly specify what is positve cricket

you must be admiring 96 ball 12 runs or 116 balls 16 runs or 80 balls 6 runs as fire brand positive cricket - better stay away from coconut oil and imli for sometime, and unwind - use mustard oil and eat fish it will give you more rationality, ad broader mindset! Just try!
