by space on Feb 25, 2008 09:59 AM  | Hide replies

out of ganguly's 22 centuries, india won in 20 matches..but for sachin, the winning ratio is low...sachin may be better batsman than ganguly but he dont have that guts to play in crucial innings...DADA rockz...

Hey Nishant:

I think both of us are grown up enough to know that neither Sachin nor Sourav are going to become bigger or smaller by any amount of word splashing we do on this forum..
I just enjoy reading certain comments and needle the guys enough so that they start making weird statements..
:-)
According to me both Sourav and Sachin are great batsmen. I don't split hairs into multitude of categories:
a)match winners, b)good batsmen, c)match winners at home against West Indies when Lara plays, d)match winners playing away against Pakistan when Pervez Musharraf is no longer the President... etc. etc. etc. . there would be too many of them.. :-)
What better testimony to the greatness of these two players that they gelled so well when opening the batting with each other? I'm sure they just went out and blasted, without bothering who was a match winner and who was a better batsman..
Cheers!

So you accept irrelevant headless logic as well, whilst giving it out??

Good on you mate. So we have established the new batting sensation of this era - Ishant Sharma. And what's more, he is young and will play for many more years unlike Dada or Tenulkar.

At least that's a very positive outcome of this intriguing debate with you.

Cheers.

RE:Media loves controversies

True.
Even the article of this very article "Lee bowls Australia to victory" is misleading..

Someone has written about it 2-3 pages further down.

Lee bowled atrociously yesterday. Just that he got the turn of the table his way. Else his 58 runs in 9 overs was not very much significantly better than the current Indian punching bag Sreesanth's 58 off 8 overs.

Media is out to sensationalize. Public is out to catch those words and fuel the fire..

Excuse the typo..
Second line should read "Even the title of this very article..." instead of "Even the article of this article..."

Don't know what I was thinking.. too many thoughts through my little brain.. :-)

Sachin's poor form
by space on Feb 25, 2008 09:45 AM  | Hide replies

Sachin's poor form continues in ODI's and particularly in crucial situations...for a batsman like him,he should come out quicker and give great innings ....but as usual he will never play in crucial situations...he may be a great batsman but not a match winner

Agreed. Sachin should have played better. No questions about that.
Hope he does play better in the coming matches.
But hey, you say that "as usual" he never plays in crucial situations, you also say that he is not a match winner..
Then can't understand what are you complaining about? He just played his natural game yesterday didn't he?
He is in his usual form, why say he is in poor form?
:-)
Both your above statements don't go together.. change either one or the other.
Cheers.

As usual means that he dont play in crucial matches and when india desperately wants to win...he is a first innings player when there is no target set...accept it..dont cry for him...Lara and Inzy are better than sachin as a match winners

not only lara and inzy.look at markwaugh, stevewaugh, gilly.they win almost every crucial match for their team.take steve waugh in 1999 WC semis against SA,markwaugh in 1996 WCsemis against India and gillly in 2007 final and so on.sachin has to learn from these players on how to raise level on a big occassion/s.If he is not comfortable at no.4 drop him .

I take it he won't play in the match against Sri Lanka and also in none of the finals now??

Has it been so resolved? The ones not in favour raise their hands..

All I am pointing out is that if you say he is "always" bad, then what different did he do yesterday?
Why make all this hue and cry then?

Win always a "WIN" .Reaching 300 runs is a big achivement???? senseless..This is happening for several years.Even when India toured last time ,
we managed to win only one match against Aussies, ended up with the runner status. We, Indian fans are convincing ourselves with the poor performances..Seniors or Juniors doesn't make any sense to me...

Dhoni ---> Selfcentered !!! Says I too much

Yer u r true. BCCI should have taught him how to speak infront of people during presentation before he was made captain. why he is projecting himself too much. Doni/yuvi/tenduk/shewag resposnsible for defeat.

Men anywhere, whether in India or abroad, do not like those who are honest and call a spade a spade.

Only those who have zero knowledge of cricket will say that Dhoni was responsible for the loss. The fact is that when he came to bat India were 4 down for 51 and he had to play the type of innings he did to ensure first that India does not lose very badly as was the practice under the captaincy of Sachin and Dravid on many occasions. Once he put up a sensible partnership with Gambhir, he could accelerate. But as clearly revealed by Gambhir in post match interview, their game plan to attack the bowling for quick runs after the second ball was taken from 35th over unfortunately failed with Dhoni falling at a crucial stage.

Whether diehard fans like or not, Sachin and Sehwag have been total failures on this ODI series. Yuvraj clicked in one match against SL and could possibly put up a good show in the coming matches.

As regards Dhoni projecting himself much as claimed by you, it is perfectly in order. If lesser fools in politics can claim so many things which they never do in their life time, I find nothing wrong with Dhoni and his attitude. Performers have a right to project themselves, non performers have no excuses to hide under.

In all the presentation after match he talks too much about himself.. I did this, I said that, I helped him, I am gr8 and so on .......

This typical Jharkhandi should tlak more aboutteam use word like "we", "us" than "I"

Ok ... point well taken . However Dhoni will do a favour to himself if he tones down. You may not know cricket administrators in india & they may cut him to size , if he continues.

It is good to be 'Humble' while you are most sought after.

i also thought Dhoni is irritating at the post-match conferences ... may be is Jharkhan thing
