Irfan Pathan has become a spinner now. His ball does not reach the wicket keeper. Munaf is much better than Pathan for test team.

irfan shpould be in squad. If we go with five bowlers with 3 pacers then irfan can come in. but he is too slow on indian wickets to be the second pace bowler

Yuvraj will be taken into Test squad only if India get Mr.Singh as captain. So he has to wait. But I don't think its too far. may be he himself will become captain.

Kick Kumble (bassstaardd) out of the team. Yuvi is the man of the series in the on dayers.

So what..?? whats the connection b/w Yuvi being the man of the match for "on dayers" and Kumble being out of the team?

Do you think Kumble selected the team?

Yuvi shld be in the team in place of Sehwag.. if that was the argument, I would have agreed with u... :-)

u r wrong tufan.yuvraj got his chance against pakistan in 2004 and he scored century. after that match opener aakash chopra was dropped and he made way for yuvraj.but yuvraj miserably failed in the other matches and he was dropped.at that time also he was a dashing batsman in ODI'S and also now he is.but the truth is that he did not exploit the opportunity that he got.

Do you have dare to mremove the well settled middle order for a much hyped and an important test series?

If we have to give chance to yuvraj, we should have done atleast 1 1/2 years back. Now this is not the right time. Let the seniors understand this is your last chance, perform and retire gracefully or atleast tell them ready for a rotation policy.

If Viru and Yovi are opening, that means Sachin and Dravid should pad up from ball one :)

Dinesh Karthick and Jaffer had done very well in England and we should stick with them as Yuvi is a middle order batsman and Viru should retire (hopeless influence on team)
Ganguly is playing his last series! don't worry! so yuvi will be in Down Under..
Zaheer is best of the lot while Irfan should wait little bit more as he can be 3rd seamer

Why not Irfan Pathan?

Munaf hasn't played in either forms of the game in a while and is injury prone. Ishant Sharma? Who is he (Sarcasm)?

Pathan has proven his form again, after Chappell had messed it up trying to make him into an allrounder instead of keeping him as a good pinch hitter that he already was.

Yuvraj, just feel sorry for the guy. He is the future of the team in terms of batting. D. Kartik may be good, but he's not the future with Dhoni around and Parthiv hot on his heels. So I think it may be possible to try Yuvraj as an opener in the longer version. I mean if Tendulkar can go from opener to middle order, Yuvraj can go from middle order to opener in the tests.

karthik's been performing consistently well in tests, no reason for him to be dropped. Test and ODi's are two different ball games. Karthik's been the best opener in the last yr or so. Sehwag's been playing like a school kid for the last 2 years. Please refrain from such comparisons, there's no logicto them and clearly shows your ignorance.

You have put Viru on the first place. You are contradicting your own self as you have told players performing well shd b chosen and also who r flexible. Viru for now is nether performer nor flexible. still you have given him no. 1 position.

One bowler short

I think India is one bowler short in this match.

I'd take Irfan Pathan instead of Ganguly, no pun intended to Ganguly fans.

7.      Dhoni
8.      Jahir Khan
9.      Anil Kumble
10.      Harbhajan / Karthik
11.      Sreeshanth/ R.P.Singh/ Pathan

2] In abroad

1.      Veerendra shewag
2 Wasim Jaffer
3. Rahul Dravid
4.      Sachin Tendulkar
5.      Lakshman
6.      Badrinath/ Rohith/ Yuvaraj
7.      Dhoni
8.      Pathan
9.    ;   Jahir Khan
10.      Anil/ Harbhajan
11.      Sreeshanth/ R.P.Singh/ or any other fast bowler if any who is exiting

I think you are Sehwag's friend or relative or from the same state. That is why you want a non-performing player on this team. He is a bloody useless baggage.

You have put Sehwag in the first place, I will not opt him as a 15th man also. we have players who can do wonders. Throw sehwag till he comes back to his form and count on other performers, svaour of Indian cricket.

Test matches are not boy's games
by Cool Guy on Nov 21, 2007 09:04 PM  | Hide replies

It is a fact that Tests cannot be compared to 20-20 or ODIs. A good record in 20-20 and ODIs does not mean that the player is Test Match material. Even players like Ganguly have problems in test matches because they do not have the technique to face the short ball.
