A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE SUPPORTING YURVRAJ FOR TEST SIDE. HIS AVERAGE IS 33 IN 19 TEST. EVEN PARTHIV PATEL HAS AVERAGE OF 32 IN 19 TEST. PARTHIVE CAN OPEN THE INNINGS ALSO. PARTHIV BATTED MOSTLY OVERSEAS WHILE YUVRAJ PLAYED MOST TEST MATHES ON INDIAN SOIL. SO PEOPLE PARTHIVE DESERVES A PLACE MORE THAN YUVRAJ DOES.

Mr. Deepak can you please tell me when did Yuvraj last played a test. I will tell you the answer, its more than a year and during this time his form has peaked. He is the main stay in ODIs and has shown tremendous temperament which is very imp. for test. HAS YOU PARTHIV HELPED WIN INDIA ANY ODIs, 20-20???? Nope... I am sorry to say but you must be that kinda guy who support Ganguly.... I can understand... You kinda people need medication...

you are correct, this is the diff between aus and ind, I am aware that mark talor of aus is not regular member of one day cricket, in the test series against pakistan, last test 2 inning he made 334 notout and after that one-day series is there but then also he has not got chance in 15 member of one day series while in india it is totaly reversr, if one gue made one fifty in 20-20 people will say take him in one-day, test etc..
Frankly I have nothing against this guy. But I don't remember him doing anything spectacular that makes him deserve the place over Yuvraj. As far as opening goes, it can always be worked out. I don't want India to be lacking in batting department while talents sit on the bench.

I don't know why people are hung up on the batting position- so and so being an opener vs. middle order batsman. We are forced to play mediocre openers and leave out excellent player in middle order.
This is exactly what Greg Chappel suggested to Ganguly during Zimbabwe tests in 2005. Take up opening so that both Yuvraj and Kaif could play. What happened next is history.
Yuvraj can easily walk into any test teams of the world. Considering his tremendous current batting form, fielding skills and useful bowling he should have definitely been preferred to Ganguly, Dinesh Kartik, VVS Lakshman and Jaffer. I do not see any logic in excluding Yuvraj in the team. This will not be good for Indian Cricket and moral confidence of cricketer like Yuvaraj. shame!

I agree. Yuvraj, Badrinath and Tiwari should be introduced into the test team soon. The openingn of Karthik /Jaffar does not instill too much confidence. If we can make the ODI openers to open in test matches too, we will resolve some of the problems. Imagine SCG, SRT, Dravid, Yuvraj, Laxman and Badrinath/Tiwari followed by Dhoni and the Bowlers.
It is amazing that the same ODI players who consistently have vented their to desire to open, will not accept that role in test matches. The reason is obvious, opening in ODI improves your batting averages and strike rates; while opening in test matches do not afford you the same luxuries. I think that players should not have theluxury of dictatingn which position they will play in which form of the game. Personally speaking if you can open in ODI's then open in test matches.
sourav ganguly has been hiding himself in the Indian Team. He has poor fitness, fileding and horrible and awkward batting technique. Laxman at least has better technique. Ganguly is waste. yuvraj should come in permanently for Ganguly.

i would like to say that there is tremendus difference between Aus and India.if any body remember Mark waugh was removed from team because of failure in one series only. During Indo Pak series in 1983 India was with two openers Arunlal and Shreekanth ,Arunlal was selected for opening with Gavaskar he played four tests but Could not face Imran and Sarfaraz .He even could not score even 25 runs, India lost the serires by 3-0. In last two tests shreekanth was played he scored 30s -40s.Fast batting doesnt mean that he should play in ODs only. If this is there then Don bradman,Viv richrds Would not have played Tests.

Here are some statistics for all Ganguly bashers!
Since his come back in ODI on Dec 15, 2006, he played 32 ODI's. They read like this (Maches-run-highest-average-100-50): 32-1240-98-44.28-0-12 Yuvraj on his lastest 32 ODIs 32-1161-121-44.65-1-8
Then on 8 tests Ganguly has played since his comeback on January 21, 2007: 8-591-100-45.46-1-4

Don't even talk of eliminating Ganguly. If Ganguly is eliminated, then Ganguly fans will create 100s of Nandigrams all over India. We don't want that do we? So we have to continue with Ganguly.
hello all, this is good to see all the views from different people, All the best to all my doscussion board partner and all the best to india team. i am looking forward to see tendulkar,dravid,saurav and kumble again..these are the pillers..i like laxman as this type of game requires mental toughness so it is very close call between laxman and yuvraj and at this time laxman is good, as this is kumbles first test.
