The wrong decesion on Kumar Sangakkara
by Abu Mohd. Pharhad Hussain on Nov 21, 2007 04:44 PM  | Hide replies

Ponting, don't enjoy much, its the wrong decesion of the umpire have gifted the match to you, otherwise it was going out of your hand. It is amusing to see that whenever a player plays good innings or balls better, the umpires wrong decesion or no balls are delivered in favor of your team, why???

The greatest cricketing Nation on Earth, it will be a blessing for India to be schooled in the ways of cricket by such legends of the game this summer.

pontings mind games.........
by Kumaraswamy Pillay on Nov 21, 2007 12:46 PM  | Hide replies

ponting's a** is already starting to burn. If umpire did not co-operate with australian team then most probably sangakkara would have pulled it off for srilanka in the second test. In indian team there are atleast 4 players equivalent of if not better than sangakkara in terms of past record against australia. Plus all four in the middle order plus would want to leave a legacy behind as it is their last tour to australia, hence in my opinion best performance from them is a given. In case if one of them dont perform then we have a handy and experienced backup in terms of yuvraj who is the recent Yama of australia. If all of them hit the radar as they did last time around then ponting will have no place to hide his a**. Plus last time india did not have a fit harbhajan and zaheer khan and had a butter fingered parthiv patel. This time there is no such problems. If RP, Zaheer and Sreesanth bowl the way they did against england and support kumble (against whom aussies struggle generally) ably then that should be enough to keep their batsmen in check. I think it should be an evenly contested series. I feel they should include sehwag in the place of wasim jaffer as dinesh karthik is a gutsy and intelligent player and is a better fielder than jaffer. Hope india defeats pakis hands down and gains lot of confidence while playing aussies. Facing shoaib, Gul and Sami is the ideal preparation for indian batsmen, while bowling to yousuf, younis and malik is ideal preparation for bowlers

you're right, the umpire just said sorry, all said and done, but that cost a match. This is not fair, he should have taken the help of third umpire, but no, he didn't, one wrong decesion and the match went to Australia.

Such wrong decesions of an umpire should be watched by ICC, because that was a very crucial moment of the match.

No way Aussies would have lost the 2nd test even though Sanga was awesome the Aussies were better!.

India are a crap team in front of Australia. You should stop dreaming and admit Aussies are the best in the world.

Only way India can win a test in Aus is by dropping Ganguly and laxaman and injecting youth. Besides the 1 test hunderd against the Aussies what has Ganguly done against the Aussies in Tests? Its time Yuvi got his chance.

Laxman has doen extreemly well agaisnt Aus but he is too old and im sure will cost india dearly this time. Youth deserve a chance.

Im afraid these changes wont come into affect until India get humiliated in Australia 4-0.

Ponting is....well he farts as he steps, infact whole aussie pu$$ies
by anil babladi on Nov 21, 2007 12:37 PM  | Hide replies

... Its not new to see Oz fart this way since I have seen Sachin from 1989. 1991 when we went down under. Steve Waugh, most cunning moron of all, albeit less than border, always did the same and put his foot so deep in his mouth that it came from the other side. I aint gonna say India will win or draw but I definitely will say, Oz will definitely rig the pitch, decisions, umpires, almost everything. And will not go back to sell their own souls for it. They are still hurt at the loss of 20-20 and the loss of winning the series in 2003/4. So expect them to play with all unfairness. But if anything is to give a hint, the faster they prepare pitches, the worst it will be for them. Hussey will become a Pu$$ie, Ponting is a bunny, Symonds yet to bcome a test graduate. So the biggest challenges are Hayden, Gilchrist and Brett Lee. Let us hope, all our big 4 sachin, sourav, Rahul and Laxman come up with greater performances in Oz. I am sure our bowlers can choke them up. But its the umpires who should give the correct decision. Not like Our moron umpire who gave Yuvraj out and Rudi who have Sangakkara out, yet had some respect to say sorry. But our Indian umpire case is purely showing that any umpire can make mistake and get away with it. His decision should have been shoved in his back. Umpires will hold the key to the Oz series.

well said buddy. Aussies generally use all tricks in the paper to rig the game in favor of them. There are traditionally certain umpires like pu$$i hearted Bucknor, Doctrove, Koertzen and all who always would like to lick aussie a$$. Their fcuking media would have nothing but lot of information as usual about our players. They would want to make a big issue out of every small thing our players do over there (a good example being the chewing gum stuff that Rahul Dravid was accused of applying to the ball, particularly because he was our best player in the test series). None of our players should care to read paper of see television. Just enjoy cricket and do some good sightseeing when you get time. Thats the best way to beat the stress. Maintain the same hardnosed attitude that sreesanth, Harbhajan and co maintained against aussies in india in october. Aussie public just loves that kind of attitude from opposition team and if they manage to keep ponting under pressure then the visitors will have gala time and ponting will have his a$$ burning all the time. Hoping to see a spark-filled series where india finally manages to prevail over aussies downunder.

Ponting seems to be under pressure as he knows about Indian batting strength, and also lack of experience in Australian boeling. If every thing goes well for India, may be India can come back with historical win down-under.

You can bring Sehwag back on his current form. Yes has excellent record against the pakis but has he done enough to earn his place

surely agree on other one should have been pathan instead

Why is he commenting on Sachin, Dravid's captaincy? Ponting is a foul mouthed redneck.
Absolute trailer trash!

And as far as Kumble will be under pressure, sure, Aussies are a very good team, the best in teh world. So any captain/team facing the Aussies will be under pressure. Obviously!

There was an excellent article either on rediff or cricinfo written by an Australian on the process of mental disintegration. Basically, they want to perturb you so that you make mistakes and reinforce it by reminding you that you fell into their trap.

Ponting is right about Sachin and Dravid
by Ricky Thukral on Nov 21, 2007 06:59 AM  | Hide replies

Ponting is right when he says Sachin and Dravid couldnt bear the pressure of captaincy inspite of the fact that they were very good players.

Time will tell if Kumble falls in the same category or not.

One thing is for sure..Ganguly doenst fall in that category and the fact that Ponting didnt mention Ganguly among those to couldnt take pressure...speaks for itself the amount of respect Ganguly has just for his leadership in cricketing world.

Kumble as captain we are already on backfoot as we wont play two spinners and Australia have 4 left handers in top 6 so bhajji has to sit out most of the matches.

Test team for australia
1.Karthik or Sehwag
2.Dravid
3.Laxman
4.Sachin
5.Ganguly
6.Yuvraj
7.Dhoni or Pathan
8.Kumble
9 zAHEER
10.RP
11.sREESANTH

With kumble as captain we only have two options.
1.Play Kartik or Dhoni
2.Dravid to open
3.If Kartik PLays then pathan can play
4.If DHONI plays then sehwag can play.

Karthick and Ganguly should open.
There is a great disadvantage of choosing a captain who is a bowler. You tend to either underbowl [ Venkatraghavan ] or overbowl [ Bedi ].

BTW, Ganguly could handle the pressure of captaincy, because there was hardly any contribution from bat to begin with!
