dont go by emotions...

Ganguly also is a very useful 5th bowler who enables India to take an additional batsman...he also bowled 76 overs in 2007 for 7 wckets and gave away 344 runs (liitle less than 4.5 runs per over!!!)

How many teams would dare to make him sit out???
So friends, stop this nonsense....dont compare him with these buch of idlis...even at the age of 36 he delivers and contributes a lot.

Salute to Saurav Ganguly!

If only my dad were a cricketer. Gambhir seems to be a perfect replacement for Ganguly. Unlike Ganguly, Gambhir is quick between the wickets, has strokes all around the wicket, keeps the scoreboard ticking and finally has a better strike-rate. And dude, if Uthappa had 12 0's he wouldn't of scored 509 runs in 22 games, but if he did then I'd say drop Ganguly NOW!! I SAID NOW!! We don't need a slow ass fielder in the team.

India's loss
by umamahesh kar on Nov 19, 2007 09:38 AM

I think BCCI must inquire if this match was fixed. The way Indians played leaves no doubt about it. Further, keeping with the spirit of right to information act, I demand that Vengsarkar make it public what part of Sehwag's match fee he gets as bribe for selecting him.

Ganguly
by anshul on Nov 19, 2007 09:10 AM  | Hide replies

Please no more Ganguly. With Ganugly there, Pak would hv made 320 plus and in batting again he would have gone on 3-4 runs. It's time to replace ganguly. Apart from Sachin,Yuvraj no one has been effective in the complete series. I was this right from the beginning that Rohit deserves chances ahaead of that non-technical much overrated Uthappa. See this is what happens when u dont have any technique. Just coming down the wicket n hitting every ball wont help u. U need some technique and some temperament to stay at the crease n deliver. This Uthappa is of no use apart from 1 match he won in england. That way Suresh raina has won 3-4 matches, and he is much much better player than this overhyped Uthappa. He should get a recall now. Still I believe Dravid cannot be replaced with Uthappa. Uthappa's fielding is pathetic

it is proved again and again,
without ganguly india sucks.
He is real motivator, provides energy in the team.
Only his presence, motivates others to perform.
Still he is backbone of indian team.
friends, accept the true aprt from regionalism.
I know, many of you wont agree bcoz reason is different. Some people hate ganguly, I asked the reason, cannt answer, says simply loves to hate ganguly.
Thats pathetic ..

Your personal opinion needs to be supported with facts.

In the last 20 matches, Ganguly is still a better scorer than Yuvraj...he has also bowled more no. of overs and got more wickets...so your opinion is stupid and biased...

I think you are rotten and a person of low IQ...it is my opinion. I know you maynot like it...same way dude...

and also dont forget that Ganguly opens the innings...I always feel it is easier to play at no. 4 than open the innings...when fast bowlers are bowling with the new ball, uncertainity is there and you have no spinners...

Try Yuvraj with a few opener roles...lol and you see what happens....u have seen it with Gambhir already.

Even Rahul is scared to open and even come at no. 3.

Guys, sometimes learn to respect a true fighter...

I hope you have heard of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", why would you want to fk around with Yuvraj's batting spot. he's been consistently good at #4/5, no reason for him to be tested when we have regular openers, just shows that Ganguly hasn't enought left in him anymore. Stop defending Ganguly, mate. He's been playing for over 11 years, it's high time you stop asking other batsmen in the Indian middle order to play an opener and face the new ball. Ganguly's job is to negotiate the new ball, if he hasn't been able to do it then it's time he realizes where he's going wrong and correct it, as far as Uthappa is concerned, i would still stick to him @ #7, he was playing really well @ #7. What was the point of fking around with him? So stop your hypocritical nonsense coz I have stats to prove you wrong.

Rahul isn't scared of opening the batting or coming in at #3. if he were then he wouldn't have lasted 11 years in international cricket. Start respecting him coz he like Ganguly is a great fighter if not a btter one. He has done things for India that would make Ganguly piss his pants.

Mr./Miss., Don't just comment, support with facts and statistics. See above (my reply) for facts. You are telling Ganguly has played for 11 years, then Sachin has played for 18 years. Can you find any replacement of Sachin yet.

I don't want to compare Ganguly and Dravid, because Dravid is basicaaly worldclass Test player and Ganguly for both Test and ODI player.

Dude, I don't need stats to prove everything. i have been watching cricket for over 11 years. It's high time you realized that Sachin is a class player and no team in the world would have a replacement for him, not even Oz. Thing is there are replacements for Ganguly - Raina, Gambhir, Badrinath even maybe.

Ganguly was at his prime say a few years ago. he isn't half the player he was and is more of a liability. Why would we need him in the ODI squad?

Dear Mature Stud, please tell me a single innings Ganguly has played n India has won. For Yuvi, in last 15 matches, he has made India win at least 4-5 times. Future cup against SA, we won because of him. Yuvi was Man of the series there. T20 everyone knows. Against series in Pakistan also he was man of the series. Scores 122 runs in Hyderabad against Aussies. How much did Ganguly score in that match??? Yuvi was Man of the series against Pak series again. I m not a a Yuvi supporter as well, but had to appreciate his innings. A school going kid can also tell who is better Yuvi on ganguly...BTW, i feel like laughing when these two r compared. It's like comparing a tortoise with Rabbit in a race

Dear Anshul, for your kind information in the year 2007 in just 1 case India has won while Ganguly scored less than 10. So you can easily understand the Ganguly-effect. Just refer to cricinfo statistics and you will know. Then your search for "single innings" will be over.

For the Australian tour, Laxman is indispensable. He has been our most successful batsman against Australia and is still good enough to play in the test side.

Yuvraj may be played instead of Ganguly. Both Yuvraj and Ganguly do not have such a good technique against fast bowling, but being younger, Yuvraj should be preferred.
