We see a new person coming in and plays good in few matches and we say that he is our future this and that. But in long run he is lost. Rohit Sharma may be a good player but he is playing well in his own country. Let him play abroad then comment whether he is good or bad. Last few years we have seen many people come and go. Its not easy to replace ganguly sehwag sachin like players.

Let the youngsters (including Yuvi) go to Australia and proove. So far we have seen lots of "Ghar mein Sher".
It is now clear that in ODI's you have to keep wickets to chase well. And you have to chase 50% of the time.So solidity in a chase is a must.A middle order consisting of Dravid,Yuvraj and Dhoni seems like a Bank.Best way forward is to play Dravid at 3.Yesterday's match makes this clear. When India has to put up a big score and the openers have done well ,Dravid can drop down to 5 or 6.This was what Dravid was trying to do.The selection committee has mucked it up mindlessly.

What stink? He is the best batsman technicall good. These are neede.Look at Marvan Attapattu.SL disposed him off and had to back to him on bended knees.

John Bosco, this will happen (like Attapattu case) in case of Ganguly not for Dravid in ODIs. Selectors have to takem him back on bended knees.
Praveen Kumar did very well today..unfortunately he didn't get any wicket today....but his first spell was magnificient...as a beginner he bowled very well against in form salman butt...also his Slog overs..he was reall impressive....I hope the selectors will keep him in the team...He is the future all rounder...
Rohit was the one gain from the match. He is technically good.He can play the big shot.He needs to go on.Gambhir in the 50 over format cannot handle the new ball.So he is not the replacement for Ganguly in future.Uthappa is too showy and not consistent.Sehwag seems over the hill.I think Rohit is ideal to open in the one day format. No bang bang.
Tendulkar - old is gold! Still continues to glitter. Still the no. 1 Indian batsman amongst the young or the old!
Ganguly - In twilight zone. Needs rejuvination or will fade out soon, if a worthy challenger rises on the scene.
Gambhir - Great for 20-20. Failure in other forms of the game.
Sehwag - Got enough chances but failed to prove his worth! Future is bleak.
Yuvraj - India's brightest stars for the shorter versions of the game. Still has to prove temperament and technique for test cricket.
Uthappa - Good for 20-20. Temperament suspect for the longer versions of the game.
Dhoni - Captain cool. Good for one dayers, good temperament. Needs one good and consistent test series to establish as a batsman. Suspect technique against fast bowling.
Rohit Sharma - Promising batsman. Good temperament. Has done well in difficult situations in 20-20 WC. Needs to be groomed.
Pathan - 120 kmph? just ok for one day, may be! For test matches, no chance!
RP Singh - Currently India's best pacer.
Sreesanth - Despite his controversies, India's most promising fast bowler. Will do better if he can control and channelise his aggression for the right activities.
Zaheer - Good bowler but inconsistent! He and RP have to deliver if India have to make any impact on the Aussie batsmen!
Kumble - The old canon! At 37, still indispensable in the test side.
Harbhajan - Heartening comeback!
Dravid - Still good enough for all forms of the game. Indispensable for the

also missed. cheteshwar pujara, single handedly saved the match against delhi against all the odds.(was man of the series of junior world cup).
It is clear that Dhoni took this match casually. After Yuvraj was given out,Dhoni gave up.He shd have soldiered on with Irfan .The same situation can occur in a crunch game.So every game is to be treated seriously.
I dont understand what robin uthappa is doing in the team. He plays a knock of 30 or 40 once in 5 matches. But it looks like he is in good book of dhoni so makes it to the team ahead of rohit and dravid.
RE:uthappa shud be shown the way
by Superhero on Nov 19, 2007 09:01 PM
u stupid..how can u say uthappa is better player than dravid...dravid is india's best fielder in slips ...dravid has fantastic record while he bats at no 3...none in the present indian team..suceeded in the 3rd postion..wether its yuvaraj ,uthappa ,sehwag ,gambhir..everyone failed///so that postion belongs to dravid..
RE:uthappa shud be shown the way
by bharat on Nov 19, 2007 08:52 AM
U can't expect Uthapa to open. Why? Why? - Have you forgotten that Uthappa got into the Indian side as an opener? When he failed, he got relegated to the middle/lower order.
Uthappa may be a better fielder. But however brilliant fielder he may be can he save enough runs in a 50 over match to compensate for his poor batting? - In a 50 over match, it is impossible for a single player to save more than 10 or 12 runs. Besides, these factors can be considered provided he scores passing marks for the function he has been selected for. Presently, Uthappa is miserably failing as a batsman.
Dravid is not a bad fielder. He is a good slip fielder barring that one match in the last series where catches were dropped (not just by Dravid but by other players too).
The best outcome of yesterday's match is that we have got a very good batsman with very good fielding capabilities, ie. Rohit Sharma. He did the highest score from Indian side yesterday and showed that he will not break under pressure.
Second one is Pravin. Although he could not get wickets, but his RPO is best among all the bowlers played. Considering it was his first match I feel that was the best debut for him.
One more good thing is that even Sehwag, Sachin, Utthappa and Gambhir (& Dhoni too, although it was a little problem for him ater the injury taking second run) failed to do much, we saw good cricket from tail enders who showed that the Indian Team is building up as a team. At least we are thinking to go ahead even without the GOLDEN TRIO.
All the best for Indian Team !!! Hope to see same good spirit in Tests as well.

Yes! Amish Saheba is trying desperately to get into the international umpire's panel. He will go any extent to get a good report from the visiting team!
