Fact
by Rajesh Kumar on Nov 14, 2007 05:46 PM

India is a conservative country. It knows how to make its people poor. It has every where rules against its own people to make them poor. There is no rule which is in favour of its people. It wants to work all its people for government but government never wants to work for people. It makes rules to force them to break so that they are guilty.

The mentally is a rulers mentality. It just rules.

Question of the day?

Why people have to go and lodge FIR or complaints to police department. Why there is no service department where professional civil people are there and any gentleman who never had gone to police office can go and lodge its complaint and come out without insult.

The series down under
by Gopakumar Coratyl on Nov 14, 2007 05:45 PM

The series against Pakistan, though important, is not so important as the Australia series. To play well against Australia in Australia and beat them in their den is what every Indian cricketer should strive for. If you look back to the 2003- 2004 series, you will remember with pride and happiness the way our batsmen smashed the Australian bowlers all round the park in a series which we almost won. To top it all, the Indians made over 700 runs in the first innings of the final test. They played magnificent and aggressive cricket in that series. Which is why I strongly feel that players like Sehwag and Yuvraj should be in the eleven in Australia. Sehwag%u2019s innings of 196 in the test we lost made all of us proud that we are Indians. To balance the team well, one of the oldies, preferably Ganguly should open with Sehwag to be followed by Dravid, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Laxman,Dhoni, Pathan/Zaheer, Harbajan/Kumble, RP Singh & Sreesanth. The Indian will have to play under trying conditions with the Australian players and public gunning for them in revenge for the so called racist taunts against Symonds further fueled %u201Cunderarm%u201D by Greg Chappel. Which is why we need our most experienced and skilled team down under. I hope these guys will make us proud of them, come December, in the most important cricket series ever for India

Seniors should be rotated
by atul bhalerao on Nov 14, 2007 05:28 PM  | Hide replies

It is good to see Seniors selected. But I feel they must give use them in rotation thus the young players can use their experience for longer time and also the fitness will not be a problem. WIth due respect to all seniors, we should allow them to share their experiences with young for much longer times. I can even suggest that we may not require any specialist coach it these seniors take up the job, when in or out of the team.

I think india should go to new comers only. They can catch few children from my street too. They keep on breaking windows and block the traffic by playing cricket on road.

Why all of you(Selecters,Team Management,Media Supporters etc) put more & more pressure on SENIOR'S,if they are not sure about their game and fitness they can retire them selves dont they known their strengths,as they are playing since 15 yrs.why should you getting them in a position to quit the team by heavy PRESSURE.Can india get & PROVIDE an opening pair like (sachin&ganguly),No.3 position(Dravid)in near by future, i never think its impossible, they are maestro's ( uncompetable) they are simply kohinoor's of india.no one can reach their standards, lets think can YUVRAJ , UTHAPPA,GAMBHIR & DHONI can succeed in 1,2,3 positions, they come in middle order with no pressure ,any time any team needs ALL ROUNDERS which india not had since a decade, thats the simple difference when compared with other teams, if they can develop 3 allrounders like yuvraj, then india will be on top, the whole country, selecters, captain, management, media have to look on getting young , dashing ALLROUNDERS then only we can be in top position, otherwise the same routine things will be going on just as , if INDIA wins media , supporters will rise them to heavens and if fail in series then, they will critisise them, 1st of all every should have to support the team mates as a players (but not as a super fine machines). All and all it all happens only in INDIA because to due one and only sport of INDIA, if there is any alternative like HOCKEY, FOOTBALL , RUGBY then no one cares as much as about cricket..

Sachin didn%u2019t have guts to take captaincy but Kumble did. Sachin is now just interested in making his records and nothing else.Dravid is a gentleman so he quietly retired Ganguly did neither so he was kicked out.

Team Selection
by sagar madan dimri on Nov 14, 2007 05:15 PM  | Hide replies

I would say that Ramesh Powar is unlucky again because he had done very good in england just because he does not have team support he should be neglected.
H.Singh is good ball but Ramesh Powar has proven himself. Ramesh Powar should have been given an apportunity.
Rest the team is very good but even H.singh Inclusion in not bad because he is also a good bowler.

Its shame to have people like you in this country who don't understand simple logic.

Lets drop all seniors as you say for complete one series against australia and lets see what difference it will make to have 3-4 more young players.

MAN you already have 7 young players..... aren't you satisfied. these 7 cant dominate 3 seniors so you want all 11 youngsters!!!!!!

Why dont you ask juniors to perform better than seniors rather than being jeolous.
SHAME on you !!!!!

In the year 2007 Sachin has scored 1298 runs at an average of 46.36. Recently the team managed to squander his effort when he scored a quick 99 against Pakistan. You might consider rephrasing your comment as 'waiting for the day when the indian team will start to struggle'

bad selection
by anand matlani on Nov 14, 2007 05:05 PM  | Hide replies

the selectors have again done it. when the world is going forward they are taking steps backwards again & again. It has been proved time and again that youngsters win matches and tournements. the big 4 are well past their prime and should themselves retire. Yes they will score tons of runs but India will not win matches and that is what is important. So Rediff i disagree with u that selectors have done a great job, they have again worked like polititians.
