any selection with sachin tendulkar in the team is bad.

he is the biggest liability to team india and his chamchas are responsible for his place in the team.
chamchas include - vengsarkar, ravi shastri, sunil gavaskar etc and my own city based chamchas (mumbai)

Marathi is not the only thing that is India you as*h*le, rest of the states to make it India. He's being true Indian in mentioning about the fact that useless and selfish person SACHIN should be shown the door. But unfortunately people sitting there are his chamchas and as* lickers so its going to me some more time we have to bare him.

In the second one day sachin scored 99 of just 88 balls. In the 3rd one day he scored 29 of 24 balls. what more do you want.

Of course today he is not what he was 3 -4 years ago. Then he was world's number one batsman. Today he is only a good batsman.

But let us be fair and clear .. he is still a GOOD batsman. In one day even today, he is as good as yuvraj and dhoni (our best). He is definitely better than sourav, gambhit, utthappa extra. In test he is second best after dravid. So before you talk about dropping him you have to talk about dropping lot of other guys.

the problem with all you guys is you want him to be sachin of 3-4 years back. when he used to score a century in every 4th one day.. and probably 2-3 test match. the man who used to be man of match all the time. the man who used to be man of series in every series. who has been the man of series of 2 world cup 1996 and 2003. i doubt that anybody.. amitabh .. sharukh .. kapil .. gavaskar .. anybody has been loved as much as sachin has been adored in those days.. but well unfortunately he is not that good anymore.. so u guys are frustrated..

but if u think reasonably... even today he is one of the best player in the team.. and the team will be definitely weaker without him..

FOR ALL THE VOICES MADE HERE ABOUT MARATHI,BIHARI ETC FRIENDS TIME HAS COME TO THINK BIG THAN THIS EVEN IF WRITE OR NOT SACHIN HAS THE CLASS TO MAKE IT TO THE INDIAN TEAM .BUT MY DEAR FRIENDS THINK OF ISSUES THAT ARE BIGGER THAN THIS ,THINK

WITH DUE RESPECTS TO ALL MY MUSLIM FRIENDS
SEE THIS BLEADY GOVERNMENT WHAT THEY DO TO CONSOLIDATE THEIR VOTE BANK

OUT OF ALL MUSLIM COUNTRIES IN THE WORLDONLY INDIA GIVES SUBSIDY FOR HAJ PILIGRIMAGE WHILE THE PILIGRIMAGE FOR AMARNATH AND VAISHNO DEVI IS TAXED.

STATES WHERE THERE ARE ONLY 5% MUSLIMS LIKE MAHARASTRA HAVE HAD MUSLIM CM'S IN THE PAST BUT EVER THINK ABOUT J & K HAVING A HINDU CM ?

WE HAVE HAD A MUSLIM PRESIDENT BUT HAS ANY MUSLIM COUNTRY EVER MADE ANY NON MUSLIM THE HEAD OF THEIR CONSTITUINAL AUTHORITY ?

HAS ANY MUSLIM IMAM EVER ISSUED A FATWA AGAINST ANY TERRORIST EVEN THOUGH ALL TERROR ENQUIRIES LEAD TO SOME MUSLIM ORGANISATIONS

BEFORE 1947 THE HINDU POPULATION IN PAKISTAN WAS 21% AND NOW IT IS 1 % WHERE HAVE ALL THESE PEOPLE GONE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CARNAGE WHICH IS BIGGER THAN GODHRA WHICH TEHELKA IS INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE ?

THE AP GOVT WENT AHEAD AND MADE 5 % RESERVATION FOR MUSLIMS WHICH IS THE FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD ALL FOR VOTE

FRIENDS ONLY IN INDIA THESE THINGS ARE POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF NONSENSE POILITICIANS AND THEIR VOTE BANK THINK ON THESE ISSUES AND NOT MARATHI,BIHARI OR ANYTHING ELSE

Same attitude even at that time. instead of saying this... why dont you say... if sachin can score 50 in every match... other youngsters should take lesson from him and should score more than that!!

BEST SIDE SELECTED .......
by Rakesh Sharma on Nov 14, 2007 04:45 PM

THE BEST SIDE HAS BEEN SELECTED BY THE SELECTORS AND THEY NEED TO BE CONGRATULATED FOR THAT. ONLY VIRU LOOKS LIKE TO HAVE BEEN UNLUCKY FOR NOT HAVING BEEN INCLUDED EVEN AFTER HAVING AN AVERAGE OF MORE THAN 50 RUNS PER INNINGS. SELECTORS HAVE DONE WELL TO INCLUDE SREESANTH AN AGGRESSIVE BOWLER, AHEAD OF PATHAN WHO HAS BECOME A RATHER DEFENSIVE AND SLOW BOWLER (TWO STUMPINGS AGAINST AUSTRALIA BY DHONI OF HIS BOWLING LIKE A SPINNER AND ALSO DHONI STANDING UP TO HIM) WHO DOES NOT GIVE TOO MANY RUNS BUT IS NOT ABLE TO TAKE WICKETS. EVER SINCE HIS COMEBACK HE IS NOT TAKING WICKETS LIKE HE USED TO TAKE EARLIER. SO UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES THE SELECTION IS JUSTIFIED.

Theselectors have no plans for future. They want to drag VVS & ganguly in team though both are passengers in the field. Harbhajan keep coming bck in team without delivering even on turning wickets. It is nothing but old wine not in so new bottle.

iT IS A PITY THAT WE ALL KNOW THAT DRAVID IS THE SLOWEST RUNR AND ON OF THE WORST OUTFIELDERS THAT INDIA HAS EVER PRODUCED AND STILL EVERYONE ONLY PICKS ON GANGULY- WHAT ABOUT KUMBLE. EXCEPT FOR TURNING WICKETS HE IS A FAILURE. HE IS ALSO ONE OF THE WORST FIELDERS.

Its pity to see the selection committee not bothered to look at statistics of Indian players against Pakistan. They just want to go by luck, they want to go by the same team that won against England. Exclusion of Pathan, Sehwag (Who has average of 92 against Pak) and Gambhir is a biggest mistake. I dont understand the need of VVS who is very bad in fielding and not so impressive with bat also these days. As long as Vengi is there, we have to see such nonsensical decisions for team India.

Actually, old wine in same old bottle, but I think the selectors cannot be faulted here. It will be an interesting tussle at the middle order, with Yuvi breathing down the necks of Dravid, VVS and Saurav. That's good. The rest of the challengers for positions have not done anything extra-ordinary to replace the big four. Sehwag still does not inspire confidence and needs to work on his batting. The openers also have to deliver or else they have Chopra and Parthiv waiting. I guess, its overall a good scene. Bhajji has been bowling well in the ODIs and if he can take that form into the tests, its good. If not, karthik will replce him in the eleven. I think in India, it will be mostly two pacers and two spinners, along with Dhoni and the five batsmen. I think there is competition for almost every slot with this combination. Should prove an interesting series.

Sorry should be 3 pacers and two spinners above, unless they want six batsmen. But to win a test there should be five top bowlers.

Selectors have failed once again - there is no accountability
by Rajnarain Gouda on Nov 14, 2007 04:41 PM  | Hide replies

This whole write up is sheer blah blah. Fact of the matter is that the selectors have failed miserably to induct young blood.

Players like Laxman and Ganguly will plod and labour on batsmen friendly Indian pitches against a none too impressive Pakistan bowling and further secure their places for the forthcoming tests against Australia and South Africa. I would have liked to add the names of Dravid and Sachin also but it will only add fire to the venom of their blind supporters who want them to play eternally and hence do not like any criticism.

Can anyone (BCCI or Selectors or blind fans) guarantee that India will win all or most of its test matches against Australia and South Africa if these four seniors are included for ever in the team? If losses are on the cards even with these oldies, why not try youngsters and give them exposure, irrespective of the results of the match?

Most of the youngsters who are knocking on the doors of selection (like Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma, Manoj Tiwari, Irfan Pathan, Parthiv Patel, Gautam Gambhir) are 20 years old. (Perhpas only Suresh Raina and Piyush Chawla are younger. It is gross injustice and a pity that only a few players are destined to make their debut before they reach 17/18 years of age and stay in the playing XI for more than 15 years, depriving a chance for youngsters.

From the spectators' point of view, it is sheer pain, nay agony to watch the seniors unable to bend to pick up balls, stop the flow of runs or

Selectors have done very good job. Vengsarkar & co is the best selection team in recent past.

They have selected young team for T20 and won T20 world cup .It is achivement for selectors.
They have shown courage of dropping out of form Dravid from one day.
In tests, Team selected by them won series in West Indies (First time after 36 years and won series in England (First time after 23 years). So they have made winning in tests abroad a habit. Which no selected team could do in last 35 years afters Wadekars team did in 1971.

This test team is winning team. Only if they fail they should be replaced. Indian test cap is not that cheap. This current test team has earned with hard work. You cannot disturb them untill they fail.

KEEP IT UP VENGSARKAR & CO.

You got it wrong Mr. Karunakar Patil.

When India went to West Indies under Rahul Dravid, Windies players were down and out. Our team helped players like Lara and Sarwan to come to form and failed miserably to take advantage of the sorry state of WI cricket to register a 2-0 or 3-0 win in the test series. You call that an achievement and euologise the team for its winning habits?

In England, the first test was almost won by England except that rain prevented them from taking the last wicket in the India second innings. In the final test, with a lead of 300 odd runs, Dravid failed to enforce the follow on (for cricket fans, the occasions when foreign teams have enforced follow on on Team India are fresh and enraging) and ensured that the team plodded in the second innings without any rhyme or reason, thereby making the test end in a draw!

You call that winning habit?

The seniors must go and the selectors are squarely responsible for not making them go.

I feel pity with you, We have won after a long time and yet you find excuses to condemn the team. You have one point agenda to condemn the seniors. Even if they win against Australia you will say what is great they don't have macgrath, and warne.

SO WE SHOULD TAKE THE YOUNGEST ONES. WHY TAKE EVEN 17-18 YEAR OLDS...TAKE 10-12 YEAR OLDS OR WHY NOT 5-6 YEAR OLDS....

GROW UP MAN CRICKET SELECTION IS NOT BASED ON AGE.... IT HAS TO BE DONE ON ONE'S WORTH AS A PLAYER.....IF A 34 PLUS OR 37 PLUS IS AMONGST YOUR BEST BATSMEN OR BOWLER YOU HAVE TO PLAY THEM. GANGULY....DRAVID....SACHIN....VVS....KUMBLE....ALL ARE GREAT PERFORMERS AND THEY HAVE EARNED THEIR PLACES IN THE INDIAN TEAM BY THEIR SHEER HARD WORK. LEARN TO RESPECT THEM...
