Dude Kumble deserved the captaincy he has earned it the hard way. Captaincy should not be given easily to any player it should be earned through hardwork.

Karthick was termed as a whirling clown on field. Always assumes that to easier chances are harder ones and drop dollies. With regard to difficult chances, yes, there's always dive to go about...

Everyone can see the sarcasism with Tendulkar's name in there!!
Not sure what is the deal with Kaarthick, though! He took en excellent catch of G Smith in T20 Semis and fielded superbly always. Cant forget how he dropped some dollies in the ENG Test series.

Nobody is a saint and you cant expect him to be one. More over he is contributing consistently to the team. He is the highest run scorer of the year for India in TESTs and ODI. He is the second in the list in ODI for any team in the world for that matter.
If you want him to retire, you are asking him to be saint then

I agree with Tracy King on this. Kaif's form in domestic cricket has been pathetic and he does not even deserve to be even in the U.P team. He is just blocking the chance of some talented hopeful there.
With Gautam Gambhir, Parthiv Patel, Badrinath, Manoj Tiwary and Suresh Raina all in terrific form, what hope can Kaif have to make it to the National side?

A decent job by the selectors
by on Nov 14, 2007 07:34 PM  | Hide replies

The selectors have done a decent job. Of course, exclusion of Pathan seems to be the only thing that they would have hated to do. But with the restriction of a maximum number of 14 for the team, they would have had the final toss between RP Singh and Pathan, where RP got the final favour on account of his reasonably good performance thruout. Among the batsmen, there are strong contenders of course, such as Gambhir, Parthiv Patel, Badrinath, Manoj Tiwary, Suresh Raina and Sehwag. But there again, whom will you drop to accommodate any of these guys? Dinesh Karthik or Jaffer? Or any of the Big 4? One cannot justify completely if any of them are dropped to accommodate one among those contenders.

RE:A decent job by the selectors

Why have they taken VVS? Just past records are not enough in these competitive days. EVen in Ranji matches against poor opposition also VVS has failed to score two figures and he already 33/34. They should have opted for S.Badrinath who has been very consistent in the domestic circuit for the past 2 years.
AS for Gambhir/Raina/Tewary/Sehwag onlySehwag could have been considered but due to limitation of 14 players he was not accommodated I think. They may take him to the OZ tour.

we can see why you are rooting for Badrinath, Shankar. Dont be frustrated. His turn will come when all these seniors retire( 3-4 years from now).
Oh I forgot, He is still behind Yuvraj, when it comes to be picked up for the playing 11. And, yuvraj is already doing the 'waiting' job.

Gambjir and AAKASH CHOPRA deserves to b selected as reserve openers.Especially the latter. The Aussie attack is way different from Brit and we need different players there since we rely HEAVILY on our batting.

That was done once before. But, unfortunately, we went begging to him to come back later. You remember what happened in SA?
Half way thru the series (When the team looked out of sorts without Sachin and Saurav and Dravid in his bad batting form?) in SA we had to bring him back. Did not we?

Indian Test Squad

Dinesh Karthik has not done anything spectacular after the England tour. He was not a great success in T20 or in the ODI's against Australia and has thus not played in ODIs against Pakistan. Sehvag who is a regular test opener, could easily have been picked up in place of Karthik. The rest of the team is OK.
