Let the systems work as they are made to work. Let the BCCI select and decide who should be the coach. Let players stick to their task of playing on field. To me it seems nowadys the seniors are poking their nose into everything and anything. If the players want all things to be their way let them retire and in the BCCI's committees to further Indian Cricket.

Same applies to this big mouth Kapil Dev. We all know how he tried to extend his career just to surpass Hadlee's record. He should just shut up.
Instead of "slamminG Indian senior players in the media why don't you stand up, demonstrate some leadership skills and apply for the job of Coach. If not then please shut up. I think Kapil doesnt have the guts to apply for his satta business will shut down.
Anyone knows who are the other contenders,apart from Whatmore i think, shastri will vote for Whatmore(100%) Gavaskar may vote against Whatmore and ask for an Indian coach Venkat -for Whatmore Other board ppl will go for Whatmore

Graham Ford and Duncan fletcher. i think Ford will get the post. Kapil should verify before slamming the Indian players. The report said they talked to the board regarding their preference of a foreigner, and not specifically about Whatmore. they could have talked about Wright or Moody or Ford or Fletcher. secondly, why an Indian coach? Kapil has been in that position in 99-00. what did he achieve? a 3-0 mauling in Australia and a 2-0 defeat by South Africa @ home? a solitary win in 10 ODI matches in Australia? what guarantee is there that an Indian coach will not be biased? Wright and Chappell were opposites as far as their nature goes. Indian coaches could also be the same. everyone knows that Kapil ji targetted his opponents (not the opposite team) by using a naive Sachin. I have all the respect for Kapil for his achievements as a bowler, all-rounder and the captain of the 83 World Cup winning team, but he should know that everyone has the fundamental right of expression in our country. What's wrong if the senior players DID recomment a foreign coach?
Kapil what do you know About Cricket,we Marathas are the best,Mumbai has produced Geniuses like Sachin and Gavaskar and so many legends like Vengsarkar,Shastri and the list goes on. What have the other states produces so far,they are just jealous of us Mumbaitees so constantly egg against them,Sachin should be made Captain and given full powers,he will take Indian cricket to great levels,he is the best batsmen ever.

Well said no one is greater than the Marathas and it reflects in sports politics and everything,Mumbai is the best,Sachins record speaks for itself,what has Kapil done other than winning the WCUP 83 when WINDIES botched up due to overconfidence.... Sachin is rated the best all over the world,Kapil is just bored and wants to take a shot at Mumbaitees indirectly by slamming seniors led by Sachin

so u know more about cricket than kapil? how many matches we won with sachin playing as a match winner? Name that ground where shastri hai hai sound was not playing? how many matches we won with gavasker hundreds? these marathas are playing for their personel records not for team.sachin was captain for india and he took india team to great lows. so please check records first that point finger to greats like kapil. there was some great maratha players but not these vishwanath was one great player u should named. u know vishwanath or not?

Don't just harp on '83 world cup. Remember the Rothman's cup - Shastri was Champion of Champions then. That was the real champion Indian team under Gavaskar

No matter how many other players have played no one had played with more passion it was admitted even by Viswanath himself who told that Gavaskar has outbatted him,Gavaskar is the only one who blasts foreign players...kapil or any other Indian player cant be compared with Mumbaitees...
Kapil Dev should refrain from criticising indian players time and again and do some constructive work for Indian Cricket.He himself miserably failed as coach and as such none of the former players have come forward and shown willingness to assume the role as coach.Dav Whatmore has proved his credentials as coach.When he himself can,t do anything constructive the least he could do is keep mum. Kapil Dear, we saw what happened to the Indian Team under you as coach between 1999 and 2000.That was the lowest ebb in indian cricket history. So shut the f**k up and mind your business, you do not know anything about coaching to be commenting on who should be the coach.
Kapil should just shut his mouth on this issue... why is he even commenting ? it is the players and not him who have to decide on the coach.... Kapil should stick to playing golf... He was a good cricketer in the early 80's... He was the one responsible for keeping Srinath out of the test team..just because he wanted to pursue Hadlee's record...In his last years he was just chasing the records...Srinath lost his best years ...he was carrying drinks when he should have been bowling.... He reportedly is supposed to have mocked Kumble when Kumble made his debut in England in the 90's.... Kumble's record speaks for itself.... Kapil has been clinging on to that 83 win for long...its history now....

Kapil should do just one thing...shut his mouth up and not to interfere in cricketing matters...
Kapil questions the Seniors for recommending the name of Dave Whatmore without having played under him. By the same token how does he expect the panel to decide the coach when none of them have played under him or even with him? If a coach is has performed with South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, he obviously is good. He may not be the best though. Like many of you have said, if the players are not committed even the best of coaches will not help. Tendulkar and Ganguly should play for the team and not for individual milestones. Hats off to Rahul. He may not be as talented as them but knows his limitations and plays to the teams requirement. Fresh blood needs to be infused. Yes definitely, but that does not mean we should make wholesale changes to the team. And by the way what dit Kapil do as a member of the pitch committee? Where are the sporting pitches?
