Some Statistics
by Akhilesh R on Feb 20, 2007 09:47 PM  | Hide replies

Population of NZ = 0.4 crores (4 million)
Population of Pune = 0.4 crores (4 million)

Population of Australia = 2.0 crores (20 million)
Population of Mumbai = 2.0 crores (20 million)

Population of India = 100 crores (1000 million, 1 billion)

There will come a day when matches between Mumbai and Pune will be as interesting as those between Australia and NZ. That day will be the day that India becomes a developed country.

Do you know that India has more people than the entire remaining cricketing world put together.

England - 50 million
Austalia - 20 million
South Africa - 50 million
NZ - 4 million
Zimb. - 13 million
Pakistan - 160 million (India has 160 million Muslims, b.t.w)
SL - 20 million
Windies - 5 million tops.
Kenya - 35 million
---------------------------------
TOTAL = 360 million

India = 1000 million

India forms 70% of the cricketing world. And we still don't win. DISGUSTING.

You know Akhilesh why we don't win?
Simle, Our Cricketers are no different from us; Me, You and all of US. We are a country of lazy people by nature. Except the Software field, we are a nowhere country.
We fight only for our RIGHTS but never for our DUTY.
Laziness is in our genes. Take any sports that needs bending your back, India are lagging behind. You may have some success stories here and there. But generally our standards are abysmal. Our Cricketers are no different. They get enormous amount of public adulation, pots of money and endorsements that bring more money. So after the initial surge, all of them become lazy and complacent. Eg: Pathan, Sehwag, Kambli, Zaheer and Nehra.
Only remedy is all of us should have somebody to kick on our butts from time to time to remain on our toes and keep working hard. Same with these players.
They are as good or as bad as WE are. So let's not complain!

Aussies downfall !
by David Williams on Feb 20, 2007 09:38 PM

Quite a few believe that this is beginning of Aussies downfall. I believe it is a simple strategy these guys have adopted to approch the WC. They have frequently rested some of their best players in the recent past so that they don't wear out before the WC. I have seen their fighting spirit in the past.. they will get back to no.1 position soon. Just wait & see!

Why Even Mumbai Should Be Able to Beat NZ
by Akhilesh R on Feb 20, 2007 09:36 PM

Population of NZ = 4 million (0.4 crores)
Population of Pune Area nearby = 4 crores
Population of Australia = 25 million (2.5 crores)
Population of Mumbai = 20 million (2 crores)
Population of Bihar = 90 million (9 crores)

Population of India = 1000 million (100 crores)

Seriously, It is a shame that

1. We play international cricket with countries which have lesser people than some of our smaller cities. And we lose.

In the future, I am sure even our domestic cricket will be of International standard... once the real people get opportunities to play cricket.

Beware India !!
by Ian Chappell on Feb 20, 2007 08:42 PM  | Hide replies

Dear mates..!

I have gon through many messeges here..
I am only talking about those guys messeges who starts jumpin considering Aussies downfall and daydreaming about world cup considering others performance...

Mates yes I agree that Aussies downfall is a good signs for India..but if u see the other picture with being stay nutral u will see the truth...

The picture now for India is they have to now cope up with THREE exilent teams..

1. Proud Southafricans

2. Wonded Aussies

3. Sky high confident Kiwis

So India now has to make not only solid strategy for Aussies & SA but also against BLAZING KIWIS also..!!

NZ are nowhere in my list of favorites for the world cup just because they won a series against australia
India has had humiliating victories against NZ
Their victory is only temporary

What do u think guyzz..???
by raj nair on Feb 20, 2007 08:38 PM

What do u think abt this "stout-sized" but having "larger-than-world" size heart young Kiwi gloveman...Brendon Mcullum is simply amazing.I have been watching for almost a year and a half and he has always struck me big time...And the innings he played today just shows that he has the potential to be the best wicket-keeper batsman in the modern era. With age on his side I am sure he has a very very long way to go....!!!

One has note here that even in a proven sporting power like australia, Youngsters like Tait,Johnson are struggling to make their mark except in patches.

It does not mean they are bad.Its just they are learning and are not masters of the game.

Keep the same thing in mind when judging our youngsters who have much less to go by way of facilities or exposure.

Rome was not built in a day.Its a long process of learning, trial and error with hardships, failures confronting them when they are not ready yet.
