Hope

The Indian think tank!
I do not know who they comprise of exactly!!
Apparently the experiments during the last one year has shaken the solid ediffice, built by Wright and Ganguly.
1. Removal of Ganguly from captaincy and side was a blunder particularly when the bad patch of the legend was showing signs of recovery.
2. A mediocre cricketer used to jump too much for making appeals disproportionate to the number of dismissals caused by him, removed Saurav.
3. A man passing the Secondary examination in third division becomes the examiner of a national scholar!
4. A bowler was made to open the innings and was advised to concentrate on batting instead of bowling.
5. An young and enthusiastic good player of club cricket level was carried along and nurtured with the hope that he would be a replacement for Ganguly.
6. Give this club cricketer one thousand chances and his average would not improve beyond 20.
7. Some good players were put under threat and coercion- perform or perish, thereby reducing their confidence level to the rock bottom.
8. By giving of and on chance to the old war horses and some new comers, nothing ultimately clicked.
9. A bunch of scattered individuals are placed in the hands of an uncertain leader who is thinking too many things at a time and lacking in conviction himself.
10. I do not know how many more blunders would be committed by the think tank before or during the world cup.
11. I can only suggest that Vengsarkar is the only person whom the team can look forward to for directions off the field.
12. On the field decisions should be collective and taken after consultation between the trio Sachin-Dravid-Ganguly.
13. Chappel should concentrate on advising the players on cricketing shots, running between the wickets, batting and bowling grips and so on.
14.Changing Rahul's captaincy is neither possible nor necessary at this stage but he should not be obstinate and he must consult Saurav and Sachin on the field all the time.
15. Anyone by any chance close to the dressing room or whatever may pass on the tips to the persons concerned, I have no access to any.
16. Let us hope for the best anyway.

Relax and Enjoy
by raj on Feb 12, 2007 09:24 PM

I am following all the comments in this forum. In my point of view, we are reacting too much either in happy or in sad mood. The reason being over analysis and over critical. I understand the passion everyone got against cricket (ers) . But too much of analysis and criticism is not good after every match or for that matter anywhere. After all it's a game. We win some and loose some. Lets relax and enjoy the game. We need to understand the fact that the odds of winning the world cup is only 4 out of 10 . To increase the chances the team needs our strong support. Lets not become restless. Cheers for the world cup. After its not only 11 players, entire 11 million fans also play with the team so lets enjoy the game.I am sure Men in Blue will not let their Fans down .

India's loss
by Udai Agarwal on Feb 12, 2007 08:59 PM

Absolutely no fighting spirit! Indians don't know how to fight to win a match. It was so clear in this match. It is a pity that India lost the match. Pakistanis may be an average team too but they have fighting spirit! India has absolutely none! Even after having your best batsmen and bowlers in the team you can't chase where at one point you needed only 4.3 runs per over, its bye-bye world cup! It was so clear with the expression on their face after they lost.

Offensive content

Mr. Panicker,
I was taken aback to read the word "Golliwog" in your column. It is an offensive racist term used by Europeans against dark-skinned people (Indians, amongst others). The slur "wog" is derived from "golliwog".
I had expected better from you.

Blame it on Ganguly
by Suman Das on Feb 12, 2007 04:07 PM

After scoring a half century how can a player throw his wicket like that ? Was he thinking "My job is done" !! One should not depend on others when he himself is going good. Don't blame on Shewag. If we still expect a good knock from him ...then we are fools.

RE:How experienced is captain...???

I totally agree. Some foolish are there who never learn. Dravid is in that level.
Another most important thing he played many matches before taking captaincy (playing notorious political game with Greig Chapp.). He cannot say he is unexperienced.

There will be a change of Captaincy

We are not sure whether India is winnig the WCup, but if Mr. Wall (dependable)
is not removed from the captaincy now, he will be removed after WCup.
This guy is nothing but useless seeking excuse on other batsmen for his own failure.
Consistently he is doing that and that why he is Mr. Consistent !

Did Dravid at any time said "I have failed in my batting and i will try to improve my batting"...Never Never...Dravid has to bat well for india to win the matches. Undoubtedly he should be removed from captaincy...Better late than never.

The match lost only due to Dhoni...
Dhoni is responsible for this.

WE cannot directly blame on Dhoni alone because we dont play as a team unlike Austrialian. see the match of Aus and Ind you will come to know the real fact. I think Man in Blue have to change the Mind set. They are required more team building classes rather practice section.
