Why
by Marunga Danda on Dec 09, 2007 09:52 AM

Why some people still criticise the graceful Gaguly who is a dedicated team man and lifted Indian cricket to a great height?

Response to nationalistic sentiments of Shri Girish

Dear Mr. Nationalist,
I am impressed by your patriotic howl but do u recall Vidarbha (Nagpur) where India under Saurav Ganguly was handed a green top pitch so that Aussies could defeat India to discredit the captain. When Chappel wrote a six page insulting e mail for India captain and leaked it too (all imputations in which now stand disproved), not one of the members of Indian cricket establishment and likes of you saw an insult to India. On the other hand you saw an opportunity for your regional hero. How do you conviniently forget that the oscene finger shown by Chappel to Kolkatans did not hurt you or the powers of Indian cricket establishment but even a nudge at the BCCI president resulted in all round protests. Is the BCCI president more homourable that the people of Kolkata? Today when your regional heroes are in dump, suddenly nationalistic fervour has become your flavour. Patriotism is some thing that lives deep in heart (ceainly not in the hearts of people like you) and is not to be worn on sleeves.

Shame on you Indians, the jealous, the buffoons, the good for nothings, and the diggers of your own graves.
Good things are never meant for you.
Even if you get it you will lose it soon.

You deserve another 1000-year rule by the whites.

I am not into this bong business, but I think I understood Kolakatans when they behaved that way. They were honest in their behaviour. I think 100000 people cannot be dishonest spontaneously - it is churlish to believe it. There must have been mistakes committed.

Ashish,
Its a fact that email was leaked by Dalmiya himself for non cricketing reasons.Dont you think BCCI will have a final say on the nature of the pitches? Will small associations like vidharbha go against their diktat and lose thier future share of matches? Given the fact that Dalmiya was ruling BCCi at that point in time ..you can very well relate these two.

Again wrong facts....this is the same Chappell who SMS to his partner in crime like reporter Rajan about taem selection...who dutifully leaks it to media after WC Loss.
As regards Vidarbha, that was a Pawar stronghold at that time...and by the way you can condemn Kolkata for preparing a greentop and not Nagpur.
You are a typically bigoted regionalist supporter....dont call urself Hindublogger but '(Your region)blogger'.

Ganguly was Dalmiya's blue eyed boy. Do u believe Dalmiya could have tried to sabotage Ganguly? The president of VCA was Shashank Manohar, a Pawar protege. It was his handiwork. What is your response to the obscene finger episode? I still feel like hanging my head in shame to see a foreigneer showing such a finger to Indian crowd and thereafter get adulation from cricket fans from other parts of this country. I have read in history that Subhash Chandra Bose had "otenised" professor Oten of Raven Shaw College for his villifying Indians, risking his academic career. What has happened to Indians' today? If u have seen the first movie of Amitabh Bachchan "Saat Hindustani" (script by Khwaja Ahmed Abbas), you will get the answer. You might say I am being emotional but do not feel embarassed about it. Patriotism is all about emotions only. And let me add, this is not hatchet that can ever be buried.

Regarding finger incident ..that was his arrogance and board shd have kicked him out of the country then and there ..dont you think so?Well bongs did go overboard when they got somebody whom they can cheer about ..thatz true too.

Friend,
I am neither from Kolkata nor from Bengal. As an Indian I felt my pride was hurt. It was even more hurtful that fellow Indians chose to patrionise the offender. Even today that offender is sitting in India courtsey Lalit Mody and often shows the audacity of giving advices. Many Indians do not take pride in being Indian and that is why Indians were slaves for so many years. And India can always produce a short sighted Jaichand/Mirzaffer to help conquer India for their own narrow selfish ends.

Attack Saurav;
Whether he plays or fails.
If he plays too well then attack
Bongs.
Call them commies call them wrong.
Call them anti Ram.
If you can not criticise Saurav for his game criticise him as a bong.
Seems India is infested with parochial short sighted people, thanks to communal caste and regional politics unleashed by politicians.

dude,
it is the bongs who are responsible for it. It is the bongs who made it a issue of us v/s them when Ganguly was dropped rightfully. Have Telugu guys made it a issue of us v/s them when Laxman was dropped from ODI or Kannadigas when Dravid was dropped from ODI. I have never seen such partisan behaviour on any other crowd and you cannot explain it away as being emotional. Supporting opposing teams over India is utter nonsense.

Jaffer
Dravid
Laxman
Sachin
Sourav
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Kumble
Irfan
Zaheer
RP/Munaf/VRV etc. whoever is fit.

Dravid better open, an out of form Dravid is still better than Karthik.
And I guess in Melbourne we have to go with 3 seamers and 1 spinner.
We can try 2 spinners in Sydney.

here I expect India to do well not some regional players. I don't care if Dravid is dropped or anyone is dropped due to non-performance. I want India to compete well and compete hard and always try for a win all the time just like Australia, a nation of 1 billion deserves lot more success in cricket as unlike other sports cricketers are very well looked after. Selection should be based on merit and current form and experience. Not based on hero worship. I remember clearly how Chennai crowd appreciated both India and Pakistan when India lost narrowly and I also remember clearly how Kolkata crowd booed Indians and supported South Africa just because their local boy was stripped of captaincy, I hope it never repeats again

well if some Indian muslims support Pakistan would you be so cool about it. They were not simply booing India, they were cheering South Africa openly. Every wicket of India was cheered loudly every boundary and six of Graeme Smith and Andrew Hall was cheered loudly. What is the guarantee the same thing wont happen again if Ganguly is dropped from ODI, they will start booing Kirsten and Dhoni.

Did you notice Kolkata crowd cheering Laxman whenever he goes out to bat? Did you ever notice the adulation Sachin enjoys or even Azhar till now?
Or you are too regionally short-sighted and want to bully out here.
BTW...do you remember from your diaper days on why Gavaskar was booed in 1984? It was the same reason in 1996 against SA.
Kolkata crowd is not regionally biased...it stands up against injustice meted out to a Haryana boy or a Kolkata lad.
But I guess you guyz would never understand the meaning of standing up for the wronged.
It'd take maybe another century of civilization for guys like you to understand this.
