Good choice
by Prem S on Dec 05, 2007 09:53 AM  | Hide replies

In my opinion, Kirsten is a good choice. From what I have seen of him, he is a low-profile guy who does his job quitely. He is not a sar-fira guy like Guru Greg. All the best to Kirsten and Team India.

81 messages so far on this issue!! Dear friends, think anbout something useful. This cricket in our country is a game played by crorepathi players and crooked politicians. Only fools like us encourage this 'game'.

With in next 9 months, there is Olympics. Does anyone of us worry about how many medals India will win in this Olympcs?????

Woh! woh! ......... watch it, Madam!

What is wrong with Cricket being played by players who have played well during their career and earned lot of money for themselves. If they are 'crorepati' that doesnt make them bad player, if that was the case then Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, Kumble would have stopped performing long time back, which hasn't happened.

Our problem in India is not with Cricket obsession, I believe it is with media hype on all issue these days (as media dont erally have any good news to sell their channel)

Dear URMILA,

"81 messages"
U should be happy abt this because U know the real population of India.

"think anbout something useful" - If Cricket is not useful then is Olympics useful for us ?

"This cricket in our country is a game played by crorepathi players " - I don't think so. Dhoni like players achieved it by mere talent & hard word.

"Only fools like us encourage this 'game'" - U mean to say we all Indians are fools. Good self Image.
"Does anyone of us worry about how many medals India will win in this Olympcs?????" - If India was in a position to win any medals definitely all of us would have been worry abt it.But unfortunately ......????????

Sounds fishy ??
by on Dec 05, 2007 09:19 AM

If the BCCI insists on a foreign coach, why were none of the applicants (who wanted the job) at least interviewed ? After all Richard Done, Tim Boon, Kepler Wessels, Terry Oliver, Dave Nosworthy and Martin Crowe are no push overs ! Only time will tell whether it was right to go with a begging bowl to someone who had not even applied/responded, and nothing against Gary Kirsten but does not the whole episode sound fishy ?

There are good coaches in India too.................
by Rajdeep Singh on Dec 05, 2007 09:17 AM  | Hide replies

It is good to see that Indian cricket team has finally got the coach. Garry Kiresten is a experienced cricketer and has a vast knowledge in the field of cricket. He also runs a cricket academy in South Africa. He is very well capable of handling the Indian Cricket team. I think, In India there are good cricketers like Sandeep Patil, Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Navjot Sidhu etc who are very well capable of handling the Indian team. I do not know the reason behind appopinting a foreign coach. I personally think that there can not be better coach than NAVJOT SINGH SIDDHU who has indepth knowledge of cricket and can guide Indian cricket team very well. An Indian can understand an Indian very well. We have seen in the past that how Greig Chappel has destroyed the Indian cricket team. Why BCCI is not learning the lesson from the past experience.

This guy lacks the experience at any level of coaching. Yet another failure by the BCCI. The last thing Indian fans need is a series whitewash by the Aussies in their backyard. Brace yourselves !!!!

kirsten is the second best choice after Venkapathy Raju.Raju should have been chosen indian coach.if Raju has declined the offer then only Gary kirsten should have been appointed the Indian coach.

kitna daru ka peg mara hai tune...venki raju never played good cricket, was never fit, never dived in the field, never caught a single catch, never made a single run...but he deserves to be the indian coach...

This guy lacks experience at any level of coaching and will surely be a Greg Chappel no.2 A.K.A failure. As a player he was pretty decent though.
