There is plenty of sting in Team India's tail.
by cajetan coelho on Aug 13, 2007 04:19 PM

There are no real tailenders in this team. They have played like good top quality lower order batsmen in the ongoing test series. When batting, Anil, Zaheer, Pratap and Santh have had long and useful partnerships. They faced the bowling with courage, consumed plenty of overs and added runs to the total in style.

Why doesnt the obsession with centuries go?
by samson lawrence on Aug 11, 2007 05:05 PM

We have 664 because all contributed. Take away the 14 runs of Kumble when he was not stumped and still India had above 600. That is enough to win. India's win is greater than anyone's century. I only hope England do not manage to save this test because India dint declare a little bit earlier. Though very unlikely, the pitch is a batsman's paradise, so anything can happen.

Good Cricket!

At last, the famous Indian middle order scored it bit, that too in consecutive test matches in an overseas pitch, that too against fast bowling which was rated far more superior to Indias' and against the same bowling attack which did all possible damage to the WI batsmen few weeks back.

The performance by the Indian team in this series, except the first match, was brilling... It's simply great. No one can take the sheen away from these performances.

There is no problem in not declaring the innings after crossing the 600 mark as India's scoring rate was good, which allows enough time to all out Englishmen twice and more runs on the board would always can add to the pressure of the England team... Let's hope that India can continue the good work in the coming one day series and the matches that follows...

And, there was one guy FunSun.. he was always shouting in favour of the England team... I think Kumble's bat shut his mouth as well as we don't see him here these two days..

After years of toiling for India it was wonderful to watch Anil Kumble get a hundred. A nice man with lot of heart, and he deserves the best in the last leg of his illustrious career. Hope he gets lots of wickets and India wins the test.

Ms Us please appeciate the feat from Kumble. His century is the lone century in the series so far by indians. It came form a player whom you expected the least. His primary job is bowling and if he is giving you century on forign tour what more you want?

who ever this US is has not thing but hole. Maybe pakistani or a paranoid who sees every thing with a myopic eye.

Common man, he has proved that sheer determination and commitment can make wonders.
He is one who has always fought his way back and remember he is the only secnond crickter in world who to all 10 wickets. Start appreciating people for their efforts.

The best thing about this test is that indians have collectively played and posted a good score.

Congrats india and to all lovers of Indian Spirit(not spirits we drink please)

great batting
by deetee on Aug 11, 2007 10:40 AM  | Hide replies

lot of people are criticising sachin for playing slowly. these idiots do not understand cricket at all. when he was starting his innings, two wickets had fallen quickly and england was trying to bait him with short pitched. test cricket is all about not falling for a trap and also grinding the opposition down. Sachin and saurav played out a tricky period of match when, sidebottom, anderson were bowling really well and to a plan. they created a platform for laxman, dhoni and kumble to cash in who were helped by the fact that englands best bowler was not bowling.
people who are criticising sachin dont know that this is the kind of batting that has always been missing in indias overseas batting displays, somebody who stayed at the wicket and ground out the opposition-dravid played this role really well before.
all you tendulkar bashers should only watch 20-20, you dont have the brains/patience to understand the mental side of test cricket.

when their hero Dravid used to play slower at 38% strike rate, those sachin basher say,
Dravid is stylish, wall, Gum and so on. As if only Dravid can and has right to show style with poor
strike rate.
Compare strike rate of Sachin's and Dravid's career, and come hypocrites critics of Sachin.

If sachin would have fallen early then india might not have made 600 runs. He actually held one side, so the batsmen on the other side could play without worrying about fall of wickets.

Kumble alone bags WC!

What happened to our slow-motion man today? I remember watching him topple down and fall while facing a yorker ball. Normally his nerve impulses travel very slowly to his brain. But becuase he was sick today, the impulses/ reflexes travelled faster to his brain than usual.

In todays competitive cricketing world scoring century once in a decade is not a joke. Kumble ko akele ko World Cup de do!

Aspee, you are a bloody sick guy. You nuts still speak about Anil Kkumble. What more does he have to do to convince idiots like you. Common, think about a 36 year old guy, still going strong in his bowling, comes in at number 8 and scores a century. Isn't that incredible. be a good cricket supporter. You guys are the ones who get passes to see matches from the pavilion. Go the the galleries and benches and learn how to appreciate the game as it is played.

Go and learn something about test cricket before punching the keyboard... Do you understand India does not need to bat again and they have done 30% better than PLanned. The wicket will turn from the fourth day. And england may well bein for a Follow on with a huge lead.
