Number 10 seems to belucky for Kumble I still remember the 10 wickets haul of Kumble against Pakistan(?) in Bangalore.Was it on 10th ? This time he scored oneten(110) scores on 10th of August. Ofcourse this was possible because Rahul did not declare the innings.Is this the right time for Kumble to declare his retirement?

Whats with you Indians? Here's a bowler who's at the TOP of his game - he's fit, accurate and as good as he's ever been. And just because he hits a century you start talking retirement? No wonder your team never plays to full potential! You just cant let them get on with doing their job, can you? FYI, Kumble's perfect 10 came at Delhi, not Bangalore...just shows how little you know and understand the sport and its practitioners! Between fans like you and officials like the jokers at BCCI, its astonishing that your team does as well as it can. Frankly, you have no idea of sport or sporting culture at all!

Yes definitely Though I watch match I do not remember the statistics. Sorry for my poor memory . I am 64 now but still batting. I do not consider myself as a cricket fan like you
Congrats, Kumble in new Avatar! Better late than never. Sachin is younger. Still a long way to - got to go home, home. Like economics, news only, good for some and not so good for others!
Though it may be uncharitable, I get the feeling we are peaking at the wrong time. I have seen it all, too many times. Maybe , WC hangover still. I am trying, but the bitter after taste lingers.
How wonderful it would have been if all this had happened at the WC? Proof of the pudding is in its eating and when are we playing SL again? Please, let us win fair and square with Murali and his twin Malinga in action. They may play hide and seek and surface again at the most awkward time, at the next WC. If Kumble can hit a century, well we have arrived, but we need him more for his bowling.
Anyway,congrats! Let us hope this will continue with positive vibes to lift our spirits during India @60.
People dont really understand Kumble!He believes he is the best bowler India has ever produced, and surprisingly most people agree. I am told he was a pace bowler to start with,before his international career started. One fine morning he got up and decided to be called a leg-break bowler. He shortened the run-up, tried some spin kind of action(a really funny one)and off he goes........ The next thing I heard was he is one of the best leg spinners of the world. Excuse me for not realising what spin bowling is. I thought, the ball turns when a spinner bowls....... The batsmen also had the same dilemma. They always played for the turn, which was never there! It was a straight fast ball, which crashed into their pads.......and too straight to avoid an LBW in case you were able to put in some decent foot work!! And Kumble declaired this was his wrong one..... Very true......it was not a wrong ball, but a wrong bowler!!!! A paceman in disguise of a spinner......
No doubt he is clever though....he some times manages to play havoc.....he loves to see a damaged pitch....he knows he is too fast for batsmen to even react after pitching on rough.
And batting.......God save us.....he always manages to score runs when the team never needs. Ask him to hang in there to save a follow on, and he is as good as Sachin there...He will lose his determination, composure and the middle stump in no time... This century today.......is useful for the team but under no pressure whatsoever...

Ravi Leo! Just shut ur mouth. U rae talking about India's highest wicket taker in Tests. Ur knowledge and nalysis is primitive. U know nothing about cricket. trouble with people like u and few journalists is that ur knowledge is half and half knowledge is always dangerous. what nonsense you are writing. He has given most test match win for india than any other player. the way he bowls is different (he is not chucking like murali), but the result is important.. Congrats Kumble..

For you there is only one sujjestion, place a hanky on the good length spot of the pitch and then try to pitch the ball whole day on it.....if u can do it 10 times, u will know what a bowler has to do when he has to do it the whole day, and if he misses he is hit for 4s and sixes

Really your knowledge about cricket is deplorable .He was,is and will be a match winner.Just with his bowling he has won matches to us.Now with batting he demonstarted why he is such agreat person.Dear Friend if aperson changes his bowling style to get more wickets and pace dont call him a fool ,admire him for the determination .Would you have done that????.Do you have the guts to do the same thing in what your profession you are???

What does India do with so many great players and Legends? One has got the highest number of centuries, the other 500 wickets,more than 100 tests,300 one dayers to their credit..... When it comes to winning crucial matches under tough situations, you got to have players with guts, not statistics....
No doubt Kumble's contribution to Indian Test Cricket will be ever remembered in Indian test history.
I clearly remember when he was selected ahead of Murali Karthik in Aus tour in 2004, there was huge cry about his inclusion and Karthick should have been selected in his place. Well, he has proved why Karthick cannot be compared to him. Century in test is just like icing on cake. His critics still says he cant turn the ball. I wonder how and why does it matter at all. with 500 wickets it doesnt matter if you bowl fast or slow, as long as you take wickets.

By any margin Kumble is the best bowler India has produced in Test Cricket (Without any hint of doubt better BOWLER than Kapil Dev)

you must be either sick or do not understand the importance of cricketing fineese. kapils maximum wickets came on slow indian pitches, where as maximum of kumbles wickets came on indian pitches (please check stats)..and when kapil was in the peak of his form, CRICKET was not played OFTEN as its since kumble is playing. moreover, a cricketing life of a fast bowler and a life of a slow bowler should not be compared. yes, i agree, kumble is a great bowler, but no comparissons. if at all, india had a triology of fantastic spinners, we can compare him with them

als kapil was a strike bowler for a n number of years, played tirelessly, except one match, was never left out of test team, courtesy personal jelousy of the then captain - and when captains had powers.
he always gave the breakthroughs, on any surface, even flat and batting beauties, bowled out the new bowl, so that it was easy for spinners with the old ball later on.
also kumble may not have even talen 1% of his 500 wickets with new ball; but kapils half of the wickets must have come with old ball.
and you always required a crumbled broken down pitch 99% of kumble's career - for him to take wickets.

Dude! Get some facts straight...a new ball does help the medium-fast bowlers, but so does the old ball (ever heard of reverse swing?). However, the new ball NEVER helps ANY spinner...even Shane Warne, the biggest turner of the cricket ball 'may not have taken even 1% of his wickets with the new ball' while fast bowlers, right from the time of Larwood down to Pigeon have probably claimed about 40% of their victims with the old ball. So put away your own trumpet and start considering all factors as per your own advice!

Not only did Kumble achieve this "jewel" in his crown...now with this score it would be very difficult to beat India. Presumable even it is draw.... the fab five would remove one scar from their illustrative carears of not winning series abroad.....
and nothing not even injuries to hoggard and flintoff can take away the shine from this victory ......because the same time(with Hoggard though) had beaten WI comprehensively...
and all five players toiled hard to achieve this..... not to forget the remaing players who shaped up this victory..........
Lets hope they can repeat the same in Australia with same determination and courage
Nevr say 'never' - knowing Indians penchant for self-destruction, it's not inconceiveable that they'll find a way to throw this match, even with such an 'unassailable lead'. Anyways it's great to see there's still some great form left in Kumble - kudos!
