Sack hIm TODAY
by D Sanyal on Oct 31, 2006 07:42 PM

He has to go. He has a secret agenda of spoiling the Indian team so that the aussie domination is not challanged. For that, he had to sack Sourav who motivated players to get to the level of the aussies.

Let go sooner than wait
by MSR on Oct 31, 2006 07:38 PM

Mr.Chappel has been a good coach so far inspite of the recent losses and there were many reasons beyond him as well. Once again the defeatist mindset of Indians at play here. They will start shooting indiscriminately at their own house till it collapses! What an approach to a great tournament. As anyways we know that Mr.Chappel cannot get us the World Cup, so why wait till the tournament? Appoint some BCCI politician as the coach who can once again brain wash us!

BCCI - screws it again
by Resil on Oct 31, 2006 07:25 PM

Well it did seem it was emminent after Greg Chappells failure with the "Thinking Hats" concept. Thanks to him Anil Kumble, the most successful bowler for India and known for selfless dedication to the team, was not in Champions trophy.
But the decision to part ways should not have been so hastily done and that too when the world cup is only months away.. Would he give his 100% dedication to the teams performance when he knows at the back of the mind that he will no longer cntinue as coach..
Thank BCCI for screwing it up at the last minute...

Chappal deserved to be chopped off
by Ahmed Basravi on Oct 31, 2006 06:57 PM

Ahhhh........hooooooo.......hold down! hold down! yeah thats my excitement, after all India is finally going to get rid of Greg Chappal (slipper) thank god!, but why after world cup it should be after ICC Champions trophy (i.e, now) BCCI shouldn't take that much time to expelled Chappal, its a must learn lesson for india that "CHAPPAL KE JAGHA (PLACE) SAR (HEAD) NAHI HOTE"

Good News
by Hariharan on Oct 31, 2006 06:52 PM

Chapel exit is very good news, Also India will save lot of money given to coach as gift but no useful result. Why we have to wait till the world cup? better before world cup. Since, if he continue we will not go even to semi final stage like last year.

Better to select indian coach.

BCCI, Chappell to part ways

Good.. At least BCCI has now become wise. This man has really doomed the future of Indian cricket. He should have been shown the door long back.

BCCI is ruining India's chances for WC2007
by VG on Oct 31, 2006 06:27 PM  | Hide replies

If this report is indeed true, then take my word, India is going to have a very poor WC2007 outing. And thank the BCCI for screwing up the show !

Points to consider:
1) If Guru Greg knows NOW that he is not going to stay after the WC, then would his enthusiasm and commitment from NOW to Apr 28 07 be still at a level which we all want, in order to turn out winners ?
2)What if he stills wins the WC2007 for India ? Will BCCI still ask him to go in such a scenario?

BCCI has gone crazy with their current stance/tacit understanding with Chappell.

The ideal way out should have been
a) Either remove him NOW and hire a new coach (Sunny Gavaskar) OR
b) Discussions about contract extension/kicking Chappell out ONLY AFTER WC 2007.

England in Football met a similar fate vis-a-vis Sven Goran Ericsson by talking prematurely about Goran exiting after WC 2006. Believe me it affects the team morale, the coach himself and undermines all sincere preparations from the players, the coach (himself) etc.

Know the result now ! India is going to fare badly at the World Cup if this news article is indeed true !
