Chappell --go
by sankar.R on Oct 31, 2006 08:59 PM

chappell should have been shown the door now itself.Look at it this way. Before his taking over, India were a great team. Now it is just a participating team.It was quite clear b4 the Ind-Aus match that India would loose with an Aussie coach at the helm. Even that guy shoud be patriotic!
Just imagine how a lot of us criticised Ganguly.
Mind you, in the battlefield a patriotic soldier is more efficient than a sharp shooting Officer who is less patriotic

Chappell as Team India's Coach
by M V Subramanian on Oct 31, 2006 08:26 PM

It is nice to know that Chappell is on his way out. Why wait till World Cup ? Once BCCI has decided to say Good Bye to Grep, I feel that they should do it immediately. Ganguly and Wright were working wonders for Team India. Chappell not only shattered Ganguly's confidence but has made Dravid a puppet. I have great respect for Dravid as a Cricketer. I don't know why he is not able to be assertive on the field.

BCCI, Chappell to part ways

While Chappell's stewardship may not seem up to snuff, the real culprits are the players themselves. No matter how many firang coaches are appointed, the team's performance boils down to the discipline and dedication of the players, whose lackluster performance to date does not instill much confidence - what could be more embarrassing than for the host team to be totally eliminated from the competition before even reaching the semis.

Good News! Bad News!!
by R.Kapoor on Oct 31, 2006 07:56 PM

Why blame the coach when the players have performed miserably during this year. The downward trend began with the Windies tour and is continuing. It is neither Saurav Ganguly or Gregg Chappell that is the cause. It is the players who have started going on the ramps for fashion designers and promoting goods for manufacturers. They know their bank balance is secure, hence the game of cricket takes the second stage. BCCI is to be blamed also, for not drawing up contracts that bind the players to the game. As for a second term for Chappell it no longer matters, and any new coach will meet the same end.

EXCELLENT NEWS!!!
by Sai on Oct 31, 2006 07:52 PM

This is excellent news!!! Greg Chappell hasnt done anything substantial so far with this team! The team is in the same spot as it was before Chappell took over! And putting forward excuses like every team goes through its up and downs is ridiculous! The players are feeling insecure, the team is always shuffled giving it a makeshift look, all this doesnt look gud at all.

I feel an Indian coach should replace Chappell once his term is over and once India quits the World Cup (thats for sure!!!). Sandeep Patil would be the right choice to take over!

BCCI and Guru Greg
by Sumeet Kant Attri on Oct 31, 2006 07:47 PM

I'm not bit surprised by the comments, but in my view its not Greg Chappell, its the Men in Blue are to be blamed. Chappell is here to coach them to be a better team, he is not here to train them how to play the game. What have the Indian team players have done in their Ranji stints? Or have they paid an amount to be picked up to dawn Indian Tricolor shirts at International level?

I doubt Indian Team's credibility as a Team and their all are disappointing and pathetic bunch of players, who play for money and not for Nation's pride.
