India Today
by Kaarthikeyan R on Nov 03, 2006 06:01 PM

I read all the posts and i kept wondering why indians are being blasted so much.
Well there are many things that the indian camp needs to think. Like rajib quoted. Ganguly makes a great captain and he made north to south a united india. that is lacking now. people have started to play for themselves which has been showing.
I dont think aussies are really unbeatable. if u see westindies have beaten them twice. Lara though he is not is the greatest of his form his captancy has revived and made a new westindies. the looks of it now looks like they even have the chance to win 2007 worl cup.
ATTITUDE is lacking with the indians. The fight which kiwi tailenders gave is lacking in Indian team. Unity is lacking.
We need the old guys to stable and to guide through pressure situations. One person left out was Badani who was doing good.
We need some aggression to the team. Seniors can provide balance and young blood can give aggression. West indies are have a attack full of fresh blood and their batsman complement for all the mistakes they do and now they hardly err...
Watch and learn India. They have millions to cheer for them but you have Billions

Unique System
by Anil on Nov 02, 2006 11:13 PM  | Hide replies

I dont disagree much with Sastris view. He is right in his comments with our present set up but what I have to suggest is different. We shouldnt copy much from other cricketing nations. India is different taking into account the population we have, taking into account the amount of cricket played here. If you want to make a comparison I believe we can compare Brazil in Football, Its the same passion for both. We have enough talents to have three of four teams at a time, but the question where is the opportunity? According to my view we should take only inform players for any series irrespective of there status. We can do that because we have that volume compared with any other cricketing nation but to do so we should have more first class tournaments, we should encourage Club Cricket along with our present first class cricket. Above all we should have a better system to pick the right talent. Any different thoughts?

You are right. Also we need some Fast tracks so that we get a feel of all the fast tracks.
Then our batsmen will be accustomed to short pitch deliveries. We need to have variety of pitches. one that spins viciously, one which has pace and bounce, one that can get lots of swing and one that does nothing at all.

having domestic matches here will benifit our future indian cricketers

by anil on Nov 02, 2006 06:36 PM

please dont ask this indian team to win a crunch
match because they r not used to win these type of
matches. After all winning against australia seems to
be asking god to give the same stature as god
possess. Please let the aussies to rule the cricket
world because they r professionals and are born to
win,wheras india not.

Why Sachin is still there
by Ashish Gupta on Nov 02, 2006 11:53 AM

Despite of too many faliures against Quality bowling, Sachin is still there. Kaif ther Utter flop is palying because of feilding does it make any sence, also Irfan Pathan who has lost all his pace with in a year is there as an all rounder but now he is not even a good fielder. India should concentrate on getting some good quality pace bowlers, as most of the match recelty India has lost is only because of poor bowling show.

Chapell & The Great Indian Dream 2007
by Rajib on Nov 01, 2006 09:00 PM

Mr Greg Chapell appeared in the Indian Cricekt with the great dream of World Cup 2007. I'm still not sure what his dream meant ? Was it making India the World-Champ which we missed just by one match in the last WC OR is it tearing the Indian cricket (whatever is left) into pieces apart. Let us look at Chapell's contribution:
1) There was a captain who brought the different parts of India under the same umbrella and established the "team India" factor; could really show the courage to look into the Aussies eyes. Chapell first eliminated him from the team, otherwise his supremacy over team would never be established.
2) The wall - Dravid , the most perfect for number 34, look at the current situation by continuous changes of his battng position. How come he became a contender for the opening slot or far below in the order.
3) Irfan Pathan - the most promising leftie ever found in Indian team. Now he doesn't know whether to bat or bowl?
4) The experiments and the uncertainty it caused on our players. We can see the fear on their faces of being dropped. They forgot to enjoy the game.
It seems a conspiracy theory plotted by the aussies, that they would have no rivals at all.

i agrre somewhat
by abhishek on Nov 01, 2006 06:25 PM

I am not in favor of VVS laxman and kumble in one side, May be now after a gap kumble proved to be good, but as far as my memory goes when kumble was dropped from one side he was not doing so great.
Just few months back india was doing g8 in one day's every one prasing GREG like any thing. I think the difference in now and before is 3 players and those are 1. Yuvi 2. Dhoni 3. Pathan. Most of the one day which we won beacuse of these Players and now all 3 are not putting up good form.

Team India needs more Class ? No, sheer Gumption to Win !
by chaksan on Nov 01, 2006 01:45 PM

Oh Yeah ! Team India needs more class ! But is that really missing ? I mean Dravid + Tendulkar + Sehwag + Dhoni + Kaif + Harbhajan + Pathan + Patel + COACH GREG is not classy enough ? Well, then what is ? May be a certain GANGULY !...God, no not again ! will u be screaming, Ravi, I know, but for what I cant fathom. Anyway, what were u doing man when Greg made that HISTORIC presentation before the interview-panel of which u were a member what was it that impressed u so much that u picked him as the coach of Team India ? Was it his foolproof plan to oust Sourav out of Team Indias orbit or was it his magicians hat-full of experimental tricks that wud pluck Team India out of World-Cricket orbit ? Just what ? Has he been appointed Coach to spiral Team India to further heights or to destroy whatever it had achieved under Sourav Ganguly - doubts have really begun to creep into Indias mind.

So far as Dravid is concerned, its of no use to keep repeating that he is a class batsman, which is obvious, and a very astute captain, which is PURE BUNKUM !!!!

'Think, a talented team, led by a man of unquestionable ZEAL and GUMPTION (yes SOURAV, who else ?) would serve the purpose !

Our team needs to change its attitude and mental approach along with an unadulterated focus on physical fitness. On any day or on any surface Australia looks significantly a stronger team one on one. They are better than India in all aspects of the game, and are far superior team players. Along with class, we need some real metal.

Re: Jokers making comments
by Shri Seshan on Nov 01, 2006 02:04 AM

As usual these comments reflect that India cannot lose. We do not have a 6-3 fast bowler who his fit. Docile wickets as soon as they see the ball seaming - everyone is out of sort. No easy fixes everyone. The joke was someone saying SRT played well under Azharuddin. It was not the player but the captain. Needless to say the last name matched the community Azhar was from. We are so stuck in our community and regional differences. Can someone analyze analytically. No point looking at these anymore.
