'Team India needs more class'
by keyran on Oct 30, 2006 07:19 PM

Hi,

I agree to Mr. Shastri...Indian players need more class...
I appriciate Sreeshant's effort and his agressiveness on the ground to keep the oponent at vegil.

Ravi, you are almost always right, but...
by Agnel Pereira on Oct 30, 2006 07:13 PM

Ravi Shastri is undoubtedly an intelligent brain making good analysis. But even his intelligence would like to dwell on the following:

It appeared India had no desire to win, before the contest started.

There is no need for Chappell and Dravid to slow Sehwag down to bat cautiously. 65 off 90 balls is ok for Dravid, Kaif or even a cautious Tendulkar these days, but not for Sehwag. Sehwag was going quite well, but it appeared Dravid was trying to calm him down. But, if India has to win especially against a team like Australia, Sehwag has to score 90 off 65 balls (and not the reverse).

It was strange that, given the fact that Agarkar was out of the team, RP Singh & Irfan out of sorts and Munaf carried an injury, India went with 4 bowlers (including Irfan & Munaf). What stopped them from playing Ramesh Powar instead of Raina? Powar's 10 overs of traditional offspin would have helped India when the quickies got fired.

Dinesh Mongia's allround capabilities would have been useful against the WI. He deserves more opportunities as he looks more capable than Raina due to his bowling.

Apart from the above, I dont want to read too much into India's failures. They can comeback.

Bring back Ganguly
by Guru on Oct 30, 2006 06:56 PM

Ganguly is the answer ! Dravid is too soft a person to inject the "ZING" the team needs ! And Plus he can destroy lot of bowling attacks on his day . We are wasting such an experienced person. Take a cue from the case of Jayasuriya , Martyn and all players above the 30 mark !
Regards,
Guru
(P.S - Tendulkar is not exactly the blaster he was either ! )

mohali ct match
by SHRIRAM BAPAT on Oct 30, 2006 06:44 PM

ravi shashtri has mentioned what cricket loving fan have in their mind. The coach, the caption must change their approach quickly, if there are no results. hardly there is any time left out.
one strange thing was noticed during the aus inning.
for Every shot the ball was focussed by cameras to reveal no indian fielder in the frame. There appeared no cohesion in the bowling to the field placement, or the leadership was missing.

SUNIL JAITHWAR
Continuous Failure of Indian Team
by SUNIL JAITHWAR on Oct 30, 2006 06:34 PM

The Loss at the hands of Australia was part of strategy of Greg Chappell and Australian Cricket Board. Greg Chappel has become Coach of Indian Team at the behest of Australian Cricket Board and their main aim is to put Indian Team in such a Terrible shape ,that by the time of World Cup 2007 all the Players will be demoralised and dejected including the Captain and I wonder India will be in a position to even reach Quarter Finals.ANy body will ask Why ACB and Greg Chappel is doing this ?

1) When John Wright was Coach of Indian Team ,India was only team to give Tough fight to Australia.

2) By becoming Coach of Indian Team Greg is playing all the dirty tricks . First He got Saurav Ganguly removed from the Indian Team.Pathan is continuously sent at no Three for batting inspite of his failure . Pathan is a Good seam Bowler and not an all rounder,by failing in the batting order pathan will be demoralised and will not be able to concentrate on his bowling,i.e what ACB wants.

3) The batting order of players are changed continuously . when Dravid is succes ful at no. 2 or 3 he was made to open in many innings and has failed miserably.

No more place to write .

Ravi Veerapur
shameful
by Ravi Veerapur on Oct 30, 2006 05:59 PM

men in blue are taking there place granted. what little master is doing, even Mc Grath is 35 year old and still he delivers at his best. the genious could not play single ball with confidence and without scoring. except Dravid all others are not proffetional cricketers. they are more concern about advertisements. the advertisements should be banned then only indian players will concentrate on the game. they are representing the country so they should know their role in the team. at this point india indian cricket is in hopeless condition. why they need foreign cach, trainer and physio for this type of their play?????????????//

Team India needs more class
by Bankim on Oct 30, 2006 05:18 PM

This piece is a third grade one and correctly reflects the mental block of Ravi, who himself was a third-rate cricketer in his playing time.

We all know he is a croney of Chappel-Rahul-More combo! He just cannot tolerate any criticism on the folly of his favourite captain and coach duo!

First thing first. I do not think that the "Team India" concept is any more there. Pawar-More-Chappel-Rahul combo has successfully destroyed that long ago. Foot-likers and cronies of this combo might not agree; but it is a hard truth.

Simply putting it, India under Dravid does not have any chance of getting even into Semi of WC-2007! Mark my words!

Ravi joker might think otherwise. But, the only way out is install Sourav as Skipper. Rahul is a great bat, no argument on that. But he is never a leader! He is a perennial No.2 material!

Second - Remove Greg at once and take Patil as Coach.

Third - hold it, ask Sachin to sit out! He never performs on big occasions!

My team for any meaningful chance in WC-07-1. Shewag 2. Dhoni 3.Laxman 4.Rahul 5. Sourav 6.Yuvy 7.Kaif 8.Bhajji 9. Zaheer 10. Balaji 11. Kumble

After WC,Kumble, Sourav, Laxman and Rahul should bid adieu to one dayers
