I think Shastri Sir has said the right thing, in going for young legs & looking for future we have forgotten the present which is as important as future if we dont win & show confidence now , it will be demoralizing for the yougster's nobody likes to be a loser
moreover, experiments should be done when we are winning or when more then 3 batsmen & bowlers are in form, so that even when we try one new batsmen or bowler, then also we have a bit of balance in the team.
the case now is the our main stay players are not performing upto the mark & we have to choose to give them a little more rope or to continue looking at youngsters
just have to see who has a better probablity of coming good
Well, I think the seasoned player atleast in the short run
we shoul look to develop more player in the main team after the world cup like we always do !! & Give some seniors a good swan songs !!!
I beg to to differ with Ravi;s assessment of the current Indian One day Captain Rahul Dravid. Let's go to little in the past and we can recall that rahul was never a one-day player and his place in the team was not even certain but because of Ganguly's insistence he was included in the one-day team and he was compelled to be a wicket-keeper in order to accomadate him in the one-day team. With Rahul as the Captain of the one-day team I can guarantee that India will never win any major one day tournament where the any current top two teams e.g. Australia, New'land, RSA are participating. Rahul is a class Test player but lacks captaincy acumen otherwise he would have never opened in the test in Pakistan which cost us the test match.It was foolhardiness to remove Sourav from the captaincy inspite having performed not that badly in the Tour of Zimbawawe. Nobody now talks about his inclusion in the team inspite he being one of the key players who has performed overseas. Excuse given for his non-selection is his poor run of form, then what about Sachin Tendulkar, on his current showings he doesn't deserve a place in the team, he will fire one in ten innings against a mod. opposition.
The comments of someone like Ravi Shastri cannot be ignored,given his allround experience of playing at the highest level.Kapil Devalso is saying much the same thing-stop this experimentation,decide on your world cup probables and give them some stability in their positions.
Ravi Shastry is tactfully silent about the only man to have scored + 10000 runs in less than 300 one day matches and captained India to highest glory till date. When the great Gavaskar says that Team India has not yet found one to substitute Sourav Ganguly, the selection committee under the shadow of Chappel turns blind eye once again to Ganguly. Is it because he is likely to expose bluffs of Chappel and his timit spell-bound front-man? An astitute cricketing expert like Shastry opts to overlook thruths concerning Ganguly's rightful claim in the Indian team. The history will remeber Chappel & Dravid for pruning cicketing career of Ganguly.
i will go Mr. Shastri that india team need some more class to kangaroo teams.If u r not played good cricket then u give the charge other players. I think what did they do in world cup >exit in first round n broke the hope all indians those thought that 2007 cup is ours bag. pls do some thing n play goos 4 us yous nation not 4 self.
I think these boys of the blue band (Team India) should now have some body from Bangladesh who can coach them to at least their level because if this is how they behave... they are going to loose from Kenya, Holland and the likes of Bangladesh in the actual world cup in 2007...
Mr. Shastry, Please accept our mistake, and admit that the best way go forward is to remove Mr. Chappel from his present position. Also, the "wall" does not inspire too much confidence as a leader, though his batting abilities/form are beyond any doubt.
