we will compete with Bangla Desh and Zimbabwe
by krishna on Nov 28, 2006 12:48 AM

We lack the skills to play against the disciplined and competetive teams. Basically, we are a bunch of highly overated, overpaid and under performers. It is the Indian public and media who are responsiblr for this. We have made demigods and superheroes after 1 performance. I can bet that Lara, Ponting and Yousuf (the list goes on) are not treated the was SRT and Ganguly were treated. It is absurd that one mediocre knock and SRT will be considered the best in the world. SRT performance has been super against the likes of Zimbabwe abd Bangla Desh. Obviously, we cannot depend on him. It is amazing that everyone talks about his heriocs while chasing in Sharjah. For all those people - please name the bowlers against whom he scored his runs (ans; Warne, Kasporiwich, Fleming, Moody, Steve Waugh and Mark Waugh).

It is unfortunate, that the performance and selection of the Indian team is based on a one or two knocks (and some are in county or domestic cricket). Any Ranji trophy player of substance will score a few times if they are showered with so many chances.

bechara Chappel...
by krishna on Nov 28, 2006 12:34 AM

It is not the coach or the skipper who is responsible for the team performance. The coach and the captain can make a diffrence of less than 10 percent. It is the quality of his players that elevate his position. However, if their strategies are executed they get the crown or else they lose their heads. To execute the plans we need skillfull players - not a bunch of overrated, highly paid indivduals. Except for Dravid and Dhoni we can axe all the batters. I will leave the bowling department. They are the ones who have kept us in the game most of the times.

Out biggest mistake is to take the services of 1 Australin as a coach; next time the highly manipulative BCCI should change the laws of test cricket and hire 11 Australian as players.

Be patient, India has done far worse and ended up in the world cup final - and yes Ganguly was the captain in New Zealand in 2002/2003. We failed to reach hundred on more than 1 occassion.

why blame chappel...
by krshna on Nov 28, 2006 12:15 AM

Cricket is played by 11 people on the field; if they are terrible only God can save them. Chappel\'s expirementation are good; but unfortunately they are not executed. The pity is that the fans do not recognize the lack of shills in our present Indian team. Currently, except for Dravid there is no skills in the batting area.

But for a few bowling inconsistencies, our bowling has been the mainstay. The selectors have erred by choosing 4 useless players in the team (Raina, Kaif, Sehwag and Mongia). They should be replaced by Laxman, Ganguly, Utappa and Gambhir. Let us treat our players as ordinary people and not super stars. I think that the Indian team is playing to their capabilities - the batting of this Indian team is highly over-rated. The Indians have made SRT a demigod. Take a look at the performances of Lara, Ponting and Yousuf, and the value of SRT will be highlighted.

The problem is not with our players; it is in the fans who cannot realize the true worth of our cricketers.

Indian team is in dire need of a leader like Saurav. His strong leadership can turnaround India's fortune.

What about non-performing MPs !!
by Budhaa on Nov 27, 2006 06:03 PM

Let the MPs first think about the Indian masses and do their bit for their welfare.

When the MPs have this much anger for a highly-paid cricket team's non-performance,

What about the anger of Indian masses, when majority of the MPs donot perform and play with critical and livelihood issues !!!

Can we recall those MPs on the same logic??

by Sathya on Nov 27, 2006 04:50 PM

come on man
You cannot blame Greg for India's poor performance. What can he do when the players are not performing.Blame the captain and players for the humiliating defeat defeat. If u notice ..Indians have struggled to make a moderate score of 200 in the recent past(last 6 7 ODI's)

priviledge motion on chappel
by rajiv singh on Nov 27, 2006 04:40 PM

Team India's dismal show in abroad is not new, be it chappel or wright or anybody else, the coach does not contribute much. Coach can not go to field and play. The real culprits are the players, who are either not talented or taking verything lightly. In our country so called senior players do not play in the league matches. Obviously they are busy either in shooting for commercials or holidaying with their families. I donot deny tyhe importance of both the aspects as these are important for their rest of the career, but in this process somewhere they miss out the practise. Just going to army or workouts will not help in improving the game. BCCI is busy in making the money out of the game. What is being proposed / discussed in parliament is disgusting. Better these netas should concentrate in the development issues of the country.
