Chappell not at fault!!!
by Yogesh on Nov 27, 2006 04:15 PM

Everybody is saying that Chappell should be removed from his job,but nobody is concerned about the poor infact 'pathetic' performance of our players.I agree chappell has not justice to his job and he has not done his duty to the mark. But he is not fully responsible for the poor show of India in South Africa. His job is to tell the players how to react and how to perform under crunch situations, finally its the players who has to perform on the ground and if the are not doing it properly its the fault of the players.See what shewag is doing in the team for the past one year.He just scores a breezy 50 on 'dead'subcontinent pitches and the next 20 to 30 innings he just struggles to cross the double figure mark.Does his selection in the team is justifiable???
Moreover our selection process is also 'poor'.The players like Laxman,Gautam gambhir, robin utthapa has no place in the team. Its the high time that these players should be into the team. Also i feel that indian players should be more agressive and fearsome. They should think - whatever comes there way they will just tear SA bowling apart and should not be too defensive, play on the frontfoot and blast there bowling mercilessly.

Chappel did not mean any disrespect towards MPs! He just meant, they were doing their job. Our MPs talk about Democracy and criticize Chappel for voicing his opinion, it is like cotradicting themselves!

As per the performance, I checked the stats, Chappel is doing as good as Wright did! On field performance deteriorated, Chappel can't bat for Sachins and Sehwags.

I think it is okay to lose a few matches, it is after all a game. If you want blame somebody, Sachin deserves the 'villian of the match' award yesterday for playing a poor stroke!

India's poor perforamnce-role of the coach.
by Purushottam V. on Nov 27, 2006 03:57 PM

I fully concur with views expressed by some of our MPs that Indian Cricket coach Mr.Chappel does not fit to be the coach particularly after the Indian team received another drubbing from South Africa in cape town on 26th .The utterences of the coach are uncalled for and a previiage motion should be passed and appropriate action to be taken against him for his comments againt the members of the Parliament. Some remidical actin to be taken without any further loss of time.

Chappel's Comments
by Kiran Vasant on Nov 27, 2006 03:53 PM

Chappel's comments on MP's are not irregular. If they can comment on him why can't he? Besides, what he said is absolutely right. Let people mind their own business.
I am not judging Chappel on his professional level, it is not my area to pass any comments. All I know that all elements need to go together to make TEAM INDIA win.
They need our best wishes, not just when they are winning but more when they are down.

Misguided priorities!!!!!
by ANGRY_PESSIMISTIC_CYNIC on Nov 27, 2006 03:37 PM

A privilege motion because we lost a couple of cricket matches?!!! I feel the point to be noted is that, not only are these politicians paid to do so in parliament as Chappel says, but they are doing so at the taxpayer's expense. I wish there will be a day when our politicians feel so strongly about the THOUSANDS of farmers who have committed suicide so far, of those who are still doing it. But then, in a democracy , it is not the best or the most apt amongst us who are elected - it is those who are most representative of the majority. As long as we don't care, they will not. SHAME ON US.

team's the problem
by prem on Nov 27, 2006 03:36 PM

The entire problem is with the team, when they are not performing, how can the coach be blamed, noone seems to say anything against the team.

Responsibility
by Chaitanya on Nov 27, 2006 03:36 PM

The coach is doing his job which is coaching..The players have to deliver which is playing to their best..
The Parliamenterians must look into the issues which are more relevant than cricket. And people shud end unnecessary attempts to draw comparisions b/n Dravid and Ganguly..Every team has its slump of form..The last thing team can have is Ganguly back with out correcting his weakness..remember he failed in challenger trophy as well(and if im right not able to survive the fast bowlers)...he cannot be called just because emotions and temporary form of team...

Parliament is not for raking up frivolous issues
by Sudhir Bisht on Nov 27, 2006 03:32 PM

Parliament is not for raking up frivolous issues like poor performance of India's cricket team.
(Incidentally by now our team's non-performance should have become a non-issue)
Parliamentarians should worry about the falling standards of Higher Education in India, re-emergence of polio as a major disease in rural India despite massive funds earmarked for the immunization programme. MPs should worry themselves about ONGC's inability to find new oil and gas fields, about the miserable lot of farmers in spite of so much subsidy going into the sector. They should be sensitive about the beating Indian manufacturers are taking at the hands of Chinese exporters.
And Pawar's job is to strengthen the falling agricultural sector. He should have nothing to do with the cricket. May be that is what God wanted to convey to him by way of the not-so-gentle, business-like nudge that Ponting gave him!
