authenticity please
by gustave on Jan 16, 2006 09:30 AM

On the piece about ganguly refusing to open, how do i, the common indian cricket fan with common sense believe in the authenticity of the facts that you have stated? From where do you have the confirmation that the captain, coach and ex-captain were having that SAME discussion about who should open and who shouldn't? And apart from what you have stated, it was quite clear from the footage that in no way was dravid pleading with ganguly to open then innings, and it certainly didn't seem that he was adamant on sticking to the middle order.
The indian team is facing enough controversey already, and they are at the moment on a very important tour. as supporters, shouldn't we, and the press support the team and not spread unrest in the minds of the fans? Rediff, there will always be time for these issues once the tour gets over. This isn't the time for reporting issues and snowballing little incidents into national controversey. We would like to see the Indian team perform well. The better team will win, no doubt, but the least we can do is to stand by the team now isn't it?
All of us want Dravid and co. to win. Let us support them, and deal with other issues at a better time.

Nonsense article
by Srinjay on Jan 15, 2006 02:46 PM

This article is a figment of the reporter's imagination. No wonder people are leaving UNI in droves to join it's rival PTI.

While, the entire world knows that Ganguly wanted to open the innings and that Dravid was not in favour of it..UNI went on the opposite.

Is it a planted story? Guess, probably the new BCCI team is funding UNI and that's a favour returned.

The shame is on the rediff journalists for carrying this unfounded article. You guys stink and are a blot to the profession. And you are the most harmful influence to the society , next to politicians. Please remove this article from the site. Prem and your bunch of so called journalists, I know your background and you guys are not "journalists". So dont pretend. And if you guys re in the game, play it straight. Dont try to fool one and all. Pathetic effort, I must say...

Ridiculous!!!
by A C on Jan 15, 2006 04:02 AM

This is the most ridiculous article I have ever read on rediff and goes a long way to show how some of the snivelling trechesous creatures are responsible for the recent demise of civility from Indian Cricket. This entire article is nothing but a fat lie as the author simply has no clue about what he is talking about.

The funny thing is that these are the kind of people that remind me that old saying, "Its better to be quiet and let people think you are a retard, instead of opening your mouth and proving it."

speculative, sensational journalism
by Tabrez Iqbal on Jan 14, 2006 07:36 PM

"To the shock of the coach and captain, Ganguly wasn't willing to open. And his adamant stance forced Dravid to suggest that he would himself open the innings."

pure speculation this from rediff. can you please provide us with any evidence for what you have published here?

Did Ganguly refuse to OPEN??
by Arka on Jan 14, 2006 06:26 PM

this is impossible since Ganguly is not that foolish to make such choices in such situation where his inclusion in the team is a question of debate. This media has no job other than looking for an opportune moment to raise such contoversy. Please let them play and don't distrub them.
best wishes for TEAM INDIA,
Arka
