Sachin's record
by Ranjith R on Jan 10, 2006 10:45 AM

The chances of Sachin holding the century record
will depend upon how long he will continue to play.
If he plays for another 3 years or so, he should be making about 8 to 10 hundreds more as India is scheduled to play about 30 tests in next 3 years.
If he sets the record at 45 centuries, then no one will come near that in the near future. But otherwise
ponting will catch up.

There is no doubt that Ponting is a super player
and always exceeds expectations. He is probably the best player against pace bowling that we have seen in recent past.Brisk footwork and quick eye are his main highlights. Also, for the last two years the concentration part of his batting has improved .
His only weaknesses are the tendency to play across the line and the tendency to play with hard hands against the spinners early on in his innings.
But once he gets set, he very much looks like the best batsman in the world.

Hopefully, the competition from ricky will motivate
Sachin to play longer and better than what he has done in the last 3 years.

no one will beat his record

Two years of pain of tennis elbow and a hell lot of pressure to perform if you go through his career one will find that sachin has always stopped at critical pints (first centuary, equalling abd breaking Bradmans record, equalling and breaking sunil gavaskars record now on he is at top and with no pressure he will perform like nobody has in past and nobody in future will injuries that are a part of every cricketers career have not yet struck any body else except Lara who os unpredictable and mind you Ponting and hayden are Assuies come six bad games and they are out. Sachin will leave crickect with something like sunny did max centuries, max matches, max runs and maximum half centuries even in this injury struck period he has scored one 100 every 7 innings against 5 by best in thin this period, Mind you he has played less against weaker oppositions. talk of fifties and he is ahead of most of them excetp for kallis in past five years in terms of innings per fifty with fit Sachin no one can surpass him.

If ponting continues like this he will easily break as he is more fit younger than tendulkar Tendulkar to the max will be playing a year after 2007 WC and retire while punter is there for another 5 years so 1st time in his carrer some one is younger than tendulkar is challenging him but hey records are meant to be broken be it sachin tendulkar ponting lara enjoi cricket

Its a Joke that present cricketer can break Sachin's record
by Prabhu on Jan 10, 2006 10:19 AM

Sachin Tendulkar is Playing for India for the past 15 years. Sachin Tendulkar enjoyed his high time during 1995 to 1998. That is what hayden and Ponting going through now. The difference between sachin compared to Hayden & Ponting they did not play any top class or quality bowlers (except they had few challenges in england in which they couldn't handle flintoff, harmison & simon jones). They were not under pressure to score runs to win the game because the top 7 batsman all capable of scoring more than double century in australian batting lineup . Imagine Sachin's tally of more than 20,000 runs in both forms of game at an average of above 45 runs per innings with strike rate of above 70. He also took more than 150 wickets and catches. I think Ponting and Hayden career will also interupt by some injuries as long as sachin playing they cannot even come anywhere close to his landmark

Sachin's record of 35 centuries
by chakradhar on Jan 10, 2006 10:02 AM

It is very difficult to keep scoring centuries the way Ricky ponting is doing at the moment. Both Sachin and Ricky have another couple of years in Cricket, the person who maintians the present batting averages will win the race in the end.

Yes, sadly but truely Sachin's feat could be eclipsed by Ponting soon.
by Harveen on Jan 10, 2006 09:59 AM

I have been a die-hard fan of Sachin's flamboyant batting, today Sachin is not as flamboyant as ever but he is still one the geatest prized scalps for any bowler today. His form is not good as usual and due the change in style of batting Sachin is not able to score centuries frequently, as being done by his competitors probably this change can be accounted to injuries but non- the less we can feel proud that the record for Highest numger of centuries has been held by an Indian for a long time and am sure that Sachin will give other batsmen a run for their money if they dare think about breaking his record.

Best of Luck Sachin !!!!! We are proud of you!!!!

Surprising attitude

It's funny to see people writing off our own super-hero. I agree he hasn't been in the best of forms over the last 2 years. But you must understand that he had tennis elbow problem which he had to live with over the last two years. And, he had it bothering him again during Lanka ODI series (He had a scan). Then again, we saw vintage Tendulkar in the test series again.
Now that the pain is a thing of past and with so many sharing the burden, we might just see a born-again Tendulkar. He hasn't failed 4 or 5 tests in a row and retained his place by scoring some runs in the 6th. True, he had one or two failures, but in almost all the test series over these two years, he got atleast a 100 and atleast one or two 50s. And it's such a trash to say that he can't even overtake Lara! He just needs another 900 runs and Lara is almost at the end of his playing days.
My prediction for this Pak series is that he might just score a couple of 100s more. It's another matter if Ponting or Hayden (who are one year younger to Sachin) can overtake him in terms of 100s. But I can bet that Sachin will become the highest run getter in Tests and will remain the highest run getter in ODIs.
