Sachin is above all
by rammohan on Jan 10, 2006 12:48 PM

I think Sachin should not be talked about in any of the records today.the things what he is done to indian cricket cannot be acehieved by any Pontings or Lara's. I dont care if he scores 100 centuries.Imortant is he is playing the game.I enjoy by seeing Sachin on the feild batting or feilding. The technicality & excitement he brings to the game is un equable.

So lets pray that Sachin plays cricket as long as possible.

records are meant to be broken
by Pranay on Jan 10, 2006 12:43 PM

I don't think even Sachin would mind to see hi srecord being broken. Time will say if so happens. But lets stop speculating. If we are finding logics for Ponting to break Sachin's record, why can't we think of giving Sachin a fair chance . Let him play for another 5 years and then see. By the way, where were the guys who see Ponting now when others like hayden,Lara and Langer were going great guns. cricket is a game and any game sees many many records being broken over a perioid of time.

Most of the guys who have put in their comments just go by the order of the day. Its just that Ponting is in the best form of his career. It may not last too long. As regard Mat Hayden, I sincerely don't think he will catch up as he is due to retire soon due to age factor. Well Ponting may, but not for too long. People have to take into account that Sachin has not been in the best of health in this period. But guys, tell me who has had such a consistent average all these years. Its been almost 10 years that Sachin has a batting average of over 55 and no one, take that no one in modern day cricket has done that. Now that he is back in good health, we can expect a few more centuries. Ponting may overtake him just for a while but that may be due to the fact that Australia play a lot more tests in year. But if there is one person who should overtake Sachin, I would say, it has to be Lara. He is worthy of it. But as a true Indian, I definetely don't want to see Sachin's record going.

On the say he retires, Sachin will definetely have the record of most centuries.

sachins record

I think sachin's record will be beaten some day by somebody. he might be ponting, Hayden, lara or somebody else. bcos record are meant to be broken.

about ponting, he has made most of his hundreds in Australlia and england. His records in countries like india, pakistan, sri lanka and agianst the best bowling attacks is miserable. i dont remember ponting scoring a hundred against the like of Donald, Pollock (at his peak) or agaist Kumble/ Harbhajan on spinning wicket. Most of the greats of yester years dont consider him in the league of the best bastmen of this era.

Don't count Dravid out!

Hey, records are meant to be broken. Remember, as you are reaching higher, it is harder. Ponting has to pass several milestones before he reaches Sachin's: Bradman, Lara, Waugh, Gavaskar and Tendulkar. Sachin't not going to be plucking flowers in the meanwhile. Of course, Lara, Hayden are also close on the heels. Dravid is there too... Dravid can catch up quite quickly. The only hitch is BCCI as someone pointed out. They have a lust for money rather than glory!

Sachin is the greatest of all times!!!
by Amogh Naik on Jan 10, 2006 11:10 AM

Firstly let me clarify that I am not saying that Sachin's record will not be broken. Since there is a comparison between Sachin and Ponting I would like to say that Ponting is in the best form of his life. As it has been said many times that form is temporary and class is permanent; Sachin is one person who has got class and no other present cricketer comes even close to him, the closest probably being Brian Lara. Ricky Ponting is not in the same league as Lara or Sachin. There is a lot of pressure around Sachin. He will definitely silence his critics with his bat as he has always done.

every one is bothered about sachins current form with bat.but we all should remem ber one thing.he was the only batsman who has taken runs from 1995to 2000 period that had saved india from huge colapse.and if we are comparing him to other wizard of world cricket,he was the only batsman who had overcome abillions exepectations when ever he comes to bat.surely he will be a part of the cricket history when he retires.

Sachin's record
by R.Balasubramanian on Jan 10, 2006 11:05 AM

Some of our Readers had pointed out some Players are lucky in scoring centuries in the recent past due to the courtesy of the Umpires.

How many times the Indian Batsmen have been "similarly" benefitted by the generosity of the Umpires is also to be taken into account.

Its not only the Non Indian players who are lucky this way. Likewise, our Readers should also note the number of times the Umpires have given the Opposition Batsmen "Out" when they were actually Not Out!

If such recurrences are to be avoided, it is better the Umpires refer to all decisions to the Camera Umpire before giving the On field decision.

Right now, the Australian Captain Ricky Ponting is the one who is breathing down Sachin's neck.

I am optimistic Sachin will do good in upcoming season.Competition is there from Ponting and Hayden but still Sachin's record will be difficult to eclipse as there is a lot of cricket still left in him.
