Both Lara and Ponting should break it.

australian selectors are not picking hayden in odi. They are doing a bad job.I think that the australians lost the first odi against south africa beacause hayden was not playing

Every records are ment to be broken. Sachin is legend. All his centuries are true. According to me, pointing has given benefits for LBW's. For sachin, as soon as the player appeals for LBW, the umpire will be ready to rise his figure. For sure if pointing goes in this pace then sachin record will be broken. Even take aganist Lara, there r number of LBW's given out to him. Umpires are also biased to australian team. Hope sachin will gain movementem for pak series.

I think Harbajan will break Sachin's record!

Frankly speaking records are not a big thing to achieve!
The main thing is whether you are able to make the team win!
And i think Sachin has lost that ability! He is no longer a depandable batsman like Dravid or even Dhoni..
So is Sehvag!
Earlier Sachin opened with a confidence but now it is lost!
I have never seen a opening pair as good and attacking as the Sachin-Ganguly Pair!

They have to come back in form..
Never forget the contribution of Ganguly!

No Chance
by Utpal Biyani on Jan 09, 2006 11:24 PM

Guys,

Ponting has definately been in tremendous touch in th recent past. But Tendulkar is sure to make a half century of centuries and I dont think anybody has a chance to eclispe that.

Ponting sure if continues the way hes blasting has still a marginal chance to do it. But he is sure to come close.

These talks of breaking the Sachin's records have been goin on since along time. The contemporary players I would say none of them would be able to.As it is eveident Sachin has left all of them way behind like lara, Kirsten , kallis.....

Sachin's record of centuries
by S.Thiyagarjan on Jan 09, 2006 10:22 PM

records are there to be broken and there is nothing sanctimonious about records. While analysing the recors of the last five years, you have failed to compare the number of matches and innings played by all which clearly shows that Sachin has played atleast 30-35 innings less than the Ricky and Hayden.Sachin has about 9 tests lined up this year and the other two will have roughly the same.Scoring test centuries is not just computer projection but so many factors like injury, loss of form,non-selection etc come into play.Nobody can hazard a guess and need not break their heads or gaze into the crystal balls.Definitely as someone uncharitably mentioned, sachin will not sink into oblivion. As long as Cricket is played Sachin's name will find a honourable place and mentioned with awe.All the three are great players and everyone of them deserves a place of their own in the pantheon of all time greats of the game. Let us wish them Good luck and hope Sachin will score more than 50 test and 50 ODI centuries to become the first player in the history of the game to score 100 international centuries.

Sachin will never be beaten, yes of course!

For someone who started playing in 1989 and still continues to play with the same grit and determination, everybody including Ponting, Lara and Hayden know that Sachin will not stop at 35, and also that not many in the world can compete with him. So it will never be easy for Ponting, Lara or Hayden to cross over Sachin as long as Sachin's playing(who knows Sachin may play longer than any of these!!). Ponting, Hayden may be in great form but 'form'is not "if once in form then always in form" phenomenon. If fitness problems don't creep in nothing can prevent Sachin from scoring 8-10 centuries in next couple of years looking at his present form. Now that the burden of record centuries is offloaded he'll play more of his natural game, as is already evident.
However, Sachin also has to undergo the wear and tear of playing and winning for India in ODI's where he's the undisputed king. So it may be difficult for him keep a complete focus on tests. So writng off Sachin will be a big mistake and you know Ponting knows this best.
