my thinking of this matter is that, if murali remain fit he must play upto 2011 world cup. he must not fix any target in mind that i have to achive the 1000 mark.
Warne is a great bowler.but economy rate is far lesser than murali. He had taken 700 wkts in 144 test but murali has taken in 114 tests as far as age concerned murali just 34 & lankens main bowler also. Only difference is in AUS all are good bowler & wkt taking bowlers. But in srilanken team Murali Only.
Murali is capable of taking 1000 test wickets. But it is important that he plays more test matches in the next three years, keeps himself very fit, and more importantly he gets good support from his batsmen.
He can do it.. if he's allowed to throw left or right, doosra, teesra.. underarm.. overarm.. he's a cheat man.. he's just using his handicap as an excuse.. i don't think he's a great bowler as he's made to be..
Murali, obviously the undoubted king of off-spin is probably the only one to aim at the gigantic 1000 wickets figure. As the contemporary era evolves around conditions more suited for batsmen, I don't think there will be anyone coming close to the likes of Murali and Warne or even thinking about it. Murali is 34 as of now if he can carry on for another 4 years at an average of 70 - 80 wickets an year, should pursue his goal with considerable ease.
