Not only will Murali do it, he will get there in style! And when he retires, his record will be unsurpassable for many years to come, until one young bowler like Piyush Chawla cna break it! If at all Murali's record will be broken, it will another spinner from the Indian sub-continent who breaks into test cricket at a very young age.The only unfair advantahe Murali gets over Warne is that more than 150 wickets of Murali are either Bangladeshi or Zimbabwean while Warne has less than a handful of wickets against both these test-playing nations put together! At the moment,Warnie, despite all his personal problems is sitting firmly on top with the Lankan in hot pursuit!
i am a big big fan of murali.consider the fact that if cricketing greats of other contries stop him from playing cricket he would easily cross the 1000+ mark
If any player in the present day cricket can chase down 1000 wickets then it has to be the lankan spinner. We saw shane getting into the record books just recently as the first bowler ever in test history to reach 700 dismissal landmark whch is quite a record n not many would achieve it.But at the same time we shud also remember that murali is not far behind n also he has played less matches than warne n also still has lot of time left in his test carrier. Both have done a lot for their countries n have single handedly esponsible for numerous victories for their respective countries. He is the only bowler who has got a chance to reach the 1K mark. The only thing he probably needs to do is to keep himself fit, concentrate more on test cricket as warne did n continue to develop new armeries in his bowling. If he reaches there it would be a excellent gift to all the cricket lovers to c such a performance as a champion bowler.Probably he has not got the recognition he deserved as a bowler on the international stage, but still he continues to do things in the best way he knows by taking wickets. With the retirement of shane all eyes would be on murali as to magical mark of 1000 wickets.Gud luck
I think Murali can do it with 1000 TEST wickets. At the speed which Murali has taken his 670 odd test wickets, Shane Warne was not able to do that. And i wish if Murali as an Sri Lankan and especially as an ASIAN player will catch warne in Coming one year and grab the top spot for most number of test wickets on name of an ASIAN Test Player. And as per the Stats compared of Murali and Shane with the current status, Murali's average has been very significant to take him on the top spot. If not 1000 test wickets but atleast more that 800 test wickets he should grab very easily. I WISH HIM BEST OF LUCK and maintaining the same instinct for wickets upto his retirement.
There is only a slim chance. Bcos all people are trying to irritate murali by creating rumours on his bowling action. Or else Srilanka has to play 15 Tests/year, in that 10 should be against Bangladesh & White countries in Lankan Soil.
Yes, Why not? When Shane warne a much lesser bowler compared with Murali can do it Murali will certainly do it.Anything the GORAS do are tom tommed with a lot of fanfare.Remember Shane had a lot of sucess against the Poms who do not play the spinners well especially the leg spinner.Warne has nait fared ell against India with nothing to show.
