pakis have long history of ball tempering , once in a while its fine , but they should not repeat it again and again. This they have been doing since ages ,

they should change the erring players with good ones ,

Yes!

It is high time that someone stood up to these so called authorities in glass towers. Cricket is no longer what it used to be. It was ok to abide by the rule that umpires must have the last say when there was not so much money in the sport. Nowadays it is no longer "just cricket". It is a matter of a persons', then a teams' and lastly but not least, a countrys' honour. It is the same thing in most walks of life.
People say that Pakistan should have carried on playing and appealed the decision at the end of the match. Why?... What results has that ever brought. Did Hair wait until the end of the match to make a judgement on Pakistan?, Has the ICC ever over-ruled its umpires in favour of a team and if so, have they ever broadcast that all over the world to exonorate the team?. Lets say, ICC find Inzimam and Pakistan team inocent of all charges, will they award the match back to Pakistan?, will they go on World television to state the fact that their umpire was incompetent at best or a racist cheat?.. In your dreams!! Good on ya Pakistan!!

Darell Hair
by Mudit Bhatnagar on Aug 26, 2006 12:21 AM

It's not about Darell Hair, its "Australian" who do these kind of things.

1) Darell Hair with Muralidharan
2) Shane Warne commenting on Sri Lankan History
3) Steve Waugh
4) Dean Jones commenting on Hashim Amla

Pakistan did right because its all about Honour and Respect. 26 cameras were unable to catch anything and Mr. Hair saw everything. Wonderful!!!

Was Pak dissent justified?
by pps.ahluwalia on Aug 25, 2006 09:51 PM

Issue of ball-tampering,is ridiculously over-blown.Unfortunately,racial/ethnic colour is also dubbed, such a thing did not exist in the field! Both umpires,Hair and Doctrove, gave Ruling.Cricket took birth on English soil, now this game is no longer a monopoly of England or Australia.ICC is the Cricket World's governing body, and, the cricket playing nations, have accepted Rules of the Game,as made by the ICC.Remedy to file a Dissent over umpires ruling,is provided in those Rules. There is no room for a Walk-over by any one team in an"on-going"match,as wrongly done by Inzi and his men,and that too,in the last Test Match which Pak would have won with flying colours since conditions of the pitch suited Pak-style of game! Inzi and his team, repeated a forgotton record of"Walk-over win"after over 120 years of cricket history, and that too,in a most pathetic manner over something which ought to have been resolved with cool-gentle-manly spirit of the game! Inzi is a known whiner>Remember when he was given"Out"on technical-grounds while playing against India-last,he kept on whinning, until Pak President Mush intervened,to shut him up! In an"On-field"conduct,Pak is perhaps, the worst in this game.

We should not jump to conclusions as of NOW...
by Pramod on Aug 25, 2006 05:37 PM

Hi.. I think its been enough to read out here on the ball tampering issues and about racial indiscrimination.. but wat we forget is, "Pak has a history of it openly admitted by Imran i his book, Afridi in a video on timesnow and the best would be remembering Waqar scrubbing the ball with an object during a match with INDIA on live telivision, not long ago." No one except the umpires and the match officials have seen the ball and i dont thnk, Hair was unaware that Pak would take his decision as he imposed it, with any concerete proof. There is something fishy in all this and let it all cleared by the officials themselves in a menner, where truth should be upheld(which is unlikely as and we all know why...). With all this, i wont give a free hand to Hair, but then neither would jump to conclusions like another messages out here.. to ban this or that. Another charge is racialism, so we r no good, plz remember Mr Bansal and few other indian umpires, when they gave 7 LBWs.. wat would u call that..? Forget all this man and get along, we all love the game and i can only wish, if no one - Inzy or Hair, but CRICKET wins....

Pakistan ball tampering accusation
by Viswanathan on Aug 25, 2006 04:13 PM

I am surprised that people can express so many opinions on the matter without knowing the facts.

On the one hand, there could well have been tampering involved -- definitely the Pakistanis are not beyond that. I once saw Imran Khan (and I am a great fan of his too) run through an Indian side at Chennai, and he was lifting the seam for each and every ball. It was clearly shown on TV and no one said a word about it. The old ball was swinging like crezy and the Indian team collapsed.

On the other hand, racial intrusions into umpiring are not unheard of either. Many whites still insist on believing that they are a superior race and are able to easily assume mal-intent on the part of non-whites and generally exhibit the kind of behavior that they cannot get themselves to do towards other whites.

So the only sensible way to settle this case is to hear it out. Jumping to conclusions one way or the other is simply foolish. As things stand, we do not know the facts. It is as simple as that.

Umpires are disgracing the game.
by Asif on Aug 25, 2006 04:05 PM

The pakis did a right thing in protesting although their management team's not the brightest!! having said that it was a bloody good move not to take field as the umpire's should be approachable and not act as if they are the game. ICC should start to fine umpires for bringing the game into disrepute as lately we have seen quite shocking reactions from them, remember Bucknor mimicking Dravid rubbing the ball?? That was pretty distasteful!!

by Ak on Aug 25, 2006 11:40 AM

Pakistan doing so for last 20 years , thanks to Hair
for the guts he showed. The people who dont know ABC of cricket supporting act of Pak.
Ball will never reverse swing without tampering, it is only Pak in international cricket which is doing so.
